Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GreeceWe got a double room and we were placed in the building opposite the main one. We were alone in the whole building and it was kind of spooky, but not a big deal overall. Also the room had some loose tiles on the floor and the ceiling which had not been fixed.
It's a nice hostel and the staff are friendly. Breakfast was basic but tasty and the room was nothing crazy, though the bed was comfortable. Bonus that you can store your bag for 1$ a day while hiking Quilotoa. I would definitely recommend for a couple of days and it seems to be the most popular hostel in town.

ItalyThe staff will tell you that there is no bus to Sigchos before 8. Don't believe them, there are buses at 6 and 7 too, I had the impression they do it to get people pay for breakfast at the hostel. On my last day I had to catch an early bus, and I almost missed it because the girl at the reception left for 10 minutes looking for change to my 20 dollars. She could have let me pay by card instead.
The place is very nice, there is a kitchen guests can use and it is right in the center. Great value for price.

FranceThe hotel has a second building across the street but the rooms there are way less comfortable: much simpler and dark.
Perfect location. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. The rooftop offers a magnificent view of thé Cotopaxi volcano. The hostel is beautifully decorated. There is a big kitchen where you can cook your meals. Good vibes overall where you can meet plenty of fellow travelers. The hotel offers tours to the Cotopaxi at a good price.

United KingdomSlightly noisy in the morning if you're trying to sleep in. The room did not really have natural light, but there was a window in the bathroom.
Spacious room. Clean and comfy. Hot shower. Helpful staff, there's lots of info about the Quilotoa Loop and they booked a Cotopaxi tour for us. Nice communal space and relaxed vibe.

AustraliaBathroom of room number 10 stank horribly of sewage and the smell seeped into the bedroom. It also faces a back garden with a cockerel who started making his noise at 3 am.
Very helpful and friendly staff, good location, great info about the Quilotoa loop.

CanadaIt was noisy at night; to be fair-there was a big family group there obviously celebrating something so the noise was mainly lots of laughter! But it did go on after 10pm. The shower had hot water but there was nowhere to put things in the bathroom; small detail but a bit awkward. Breakfast wasn't great.
Staff were very kind and helpful. I was on a timeline and they ensured my laundry was done in time. They also were helpful in assisting me with travel planning re buses. Location is great and room was big. There was free coffee and tea.

United KingdomThe rooms were windowless and a bit musty. We stayed 2 separate nights and each time were put in a room right off reception. Just windowless and dark. Lights in the bathroom don't come on until 6pm and it's internal and, again, windowless so really dark in the day. It was fine but no more really
It was good value for money which is the main thing really. Though they do charge for bag storage whereas most other places will let you store it for free.

New ZealandI stayed in the room across the street so maybe in the main building experience would be different. First of all the building smells like mold, the lock of bathroom door doesn’t work, the toilet light doesn’t work, the walls between room are thin and you can hear everything. The room itself was clean and good enough. Staff was nice and informative and in the reception there is information about buses to quilotoa and the hikes there. There are also cheap tours to cotopaxi.

SlovakiaShower curtain was a little moldy and there was no hand soup in one of the bathrooms, but it was just a little thing that can be easily improved. There is a bar(?) nearby and the music was really loud, but only until midnight!
Really nice and cozy hostel with well equipped kitchen and area to have food (or just chill)! Staff was super nice, as I was assigned the room next to the reception and I'm a very light sleeper I've asked them for another room. They changed it with no problem. I was staying in another building, it was very calm as I was the only one there. Hot water was running perfectly!

CanadaThis is not the hostel's fault.... But there is a rooster close by in the neighborhood that likes to crow all throughout the night. I am an animal lover, but would have gladly roasted him for my supper. Bring earplugs; he made it very hard to sleep! (We actually only heard him on the second night, not on the first).
We chose this hostel because of the convenient luggage storage, but ended up really loving our stay here. We were in Latacunga over Christmas to hike the 3-day Quilotoa ''Loop'', and stayed here the nights before and after the hike. Our rooms were amazing; very comfortable beds and squeaky-clean private bathrooms. Hot showers, spacious private rooms, cute building with colourful, decorative touches. The kitchen area is big and brightly painted, which I loved. One staff member helped us order a pizza on Christmas Night when everything was closed, which we really appreciated. The hostel was a 15-minute walk from the bus station where we needed to catch a bus to/from our hike. If you're hiking the Quilotoa Loop, this is where you want to stay before and after.
