The staff went well above and beyond to ensure I had a good stay was comfortable and looked after. They spent time helping me organise transport and options for hikes. They always had big smiles and were so kind and happy to help. The food was amazing and they always offered more. Also banana bread was sooo good! Couldn't recommend more. Also they have a cute as puppy!

Very cozy and warm. A perfect place to relax after a long day of hiking. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was perfect. Which is essential! The owners were amazing as well. Great food with many options! Unlimited banana bread cookies are spectacular!

Cute and cozy. The staff were very kind and friendly. I enjoyed talking with several of the people working there. They also have a very friendly cat (Teresa) that will curl up with you while you drink some tea next to the indoor wood stove they have. I also enjoyed the food and didn't have any issues with hot water in the shower. I'm really glad I stayed here and would definitely stay again.

This was the perfect place to stay in Chugchilán. Stefy, Doña Clarita’s daughter, was a wonderful host, so friendly and helpful. I stayed in one of the private rooms, which was super clean and had a comfy bed and a hot shower. The meals were excellent, and though I unfortunately didn’t have room in my pack for the boxed lunch, the homemade banana bread and cookies were the perfect trail snack. Plus, the common area is very cozy and features a kitty who loves cuddles!

Without a doubt the nicest place we've stayed in 5 months in south America. Stefy was a wonderful host, so warm and welcoming. We felt so at home there. The food was delicious, the setting beautiful, the rooms cost. Could've have asked for more. Wish we'd stayed longer!

Warm and affectionate family Hostal. Nice home made meals. Clean beds and good hot water shower in a rustic room. We slept warm under 3)4 layers of blankets. We were transferred from Quito, to Tochi canyon hiking trail and the next day to Quilotao lake.

Quiet area. Nice staff Commune area with sofas to chill Free homemade cookies and hot beverages was a huge bonus on a rainy day :):) and so yummy! Clean rooms, new facilities. Hot water in shower. Delicious food.

Nothing, it was perfect.

We spent two nights here while we were hiking the Quilatoa Loop. This is an amazing place to stay in Chugchilan. You will feel so welcomed by the family who owns the hostel - they are so kind and gracious and make you feel so comfortable and at home. The vegetarian meals were huge and delicious and there was banana bread available all day as well as coffee and tea. I cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was here. The cat Theresa is so friendly and the sweetest little boy lives here!!

We liked everything! The people there are super cute and helpful, the rooms are super comfortable and well thought through and the food is just incredible! For all the vegetarian hikers, I wouldn’t even think one second and book this place again - it was the best vegetarian food I have eaten in south america :)

It had a fire for us to dry our clothes and warm up after being rained on. Our room even had a tiny space heater. Really nice shower. They also had local tea and banana bread and cookies and coffee all included.

The only thing was that the bedding was synthetics and my skin does not like that, but for one night it was fine.

It’s a very cozy space and the family/owners are so sweet and caring and I felt that the food was cooked with a lot of love. They also have a lovely cat in the common area that is up for cuddles! 😍 I felt very comfortable and would definitely recommend staying there!

Great value. We had a two-level, two-bed room with dinner and breakfast for about $38. It was very clean and spacious. Nice common area with a stove to dry clothes and tea and banana bread and cookies. Good food. They were really helpful when we realized one of the dogs hanging around was actually owned by the owner of the hostel we stayed at in Sigchos. They took care of him until his owner showed up.

Sigh a lovely hostel, owners were so lovely and accommodating. We were the only people staying there which surprised us because the location was awesome and we great value for money. Dinner was delicious and all vegetarian and we played for 2 lunch packs which came with no plastic for a change.

Nothing we didn't like

The most welcoming and friendly family Hostal in a beautiful setting overlooking mountains and canyons. Beautiful breakfast and home made dinner included. Outdoor seating on the hillside behind the hostel for even better views. We had a double room for a couple. Highly recommended!

We loved our one night stay at Hostel Doña Clarita! The hosts were so welcoming on arrival, and the complimentary tea/coffee and vegan cookies were incredible. They catered brilliantly to our vegan diet, we enjoyed our dinner and breakfast and the portions were great to fuel us for our final day hiking. The room we had was spacious, hot water in the shower, and the bed was really comfortable. They had washing lines outside so we were able to wash our clothes and dry them in time for the next days hike. Special shoutout to Carolina the dog, and the very nosey cow near the outside seating area. Highly recommend this accommodation!

Absolutely nothing!

The family that owns the place is so nice and welcoming!! Really good and genuine people. The food was super delicious and complete as a vegetarian. There was also free awesome oat cookies and fresh banana bread ❤️
