The major issue was that the room didn't lock securely, and the window could be pushed open from the outside. There were a lot of bugs inside (which was somewhat expected due to location). Pillows didn't smell clean.

Henrry and his wife were wonderful. So friendly and inviting.

The bed collapsed on one end, but it was still comfortable. There's no hot water, but honestly, you don't really need it. Providing a fan for those nights where the humidity is high but no breeze would be nice. Also, adding some hummingbird feeders would be great too

The location was amazing! It was right in the center of town and walking distance to everything. The staff was slay really friendly and nice. There are two comfortable hammocks and a grill. If needed, they will organize all trips for you.

The room was never cleaned while I was there so it was three nights (4 days) and the garbage in the bathroom was never emptied.

The room was nice and the location was good. Nobody spoke English so that was a bit of a challenge for me, but in fairness, the problem is that I don't speak Spanish.

The relaxed atmosphere here was nice. This is a family business and Henrry is decent. For example, I arrived with a cold and he made a special effort to check in on me and give me tea.

We had a great stay at Henrrys! With the little terrasse that each room has it feels a little bit like your own small house. The kitchen is well equiped, there’s even a bbq close to the hamomocks and the family and staff is super friendly. thank you!

Great bed and in general spacious and nice room. Also it comes with your own small veranda. The hosts are very friendly and want you to enjoy your stay as best as possible. They even provide drinking water for free! Also you can use their kitchen which is not equipped with a lot of things but enough to fix yourself a dinner! It's small but clean.

Henry and his staff are so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very big and clean, the hot shower is great, and the tours on offer are amazing. Great location nearby a few excellent vegetarian restaurants and quiet at night. Excellent spot in mindo, will stay again! Gracias for everything! Henrry went out of his way to help me plan my bus trip to the coast after mindo so that I would not need to return to quito. Thank you!

The kitchen was disgusting - cat licking itself on the table and climbing all over the work surfaces. Dirty bowls left out from staff for days. Barely any equipment. Smelly. The lad who checked us in (in his pants) was disinterested and had no customer relation skills. We had to get him up out of bed at 5pm to check us in. Terrible electrics - light switch hanging off next to the sink in the bathroom, potentially very dangerous. Window went straight outside from the shower, no privacy. Toilet dripped for our whole stay.

Staff sometimes hard to find - shower wiring set on fire whilst I was showering, very dangerous system - I alerted a staff member but he said this wasn’t a problem and that is happens - needs fixing!!

The shower was hot enough for a quick wash and then went cold but this wasn't a problem as you had just enough time to wash.

Big comfortable rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Location is perfect. Nice space to hang out and meet other travellers. Kitchen available to cook.

The moral of the story above is that if you apply western standards to Henrry's hostel you'll be disappointed. Take it as it is with no expectations and open yourself up for the experience and you might just spend a comfortable enough night.

I cook my meal in the kitchen and the guy who works there sits there at the table with his phone at full volume. (What better thing to do while at work?) I thought the boy had hearing impairment but I speak to him at low volume at he can hear me. So apparently he finds joy in the distorted sound of a blaring cheap phone. I want to share the joy or at least find out if there's anything for me in it, so I take my cheap phone at fire it at full blast. Now we share an intimate moment of cultural exchange.
