How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe loved our stay here. We only stayed a night while doing the Quilotoa loop but wished we'd stayed longer! It felt quiet and peaceful, beautiful setting, comfy lodgings. There was plenty of space, lots of games and puzzles for entertainment. The free yoga was great. Food was good. Our advice is arrive early and leave late to make the most of it!
Nothing!

Verified reviewIt is clean, in a nice location, the place is just as it is shown in the pictures. very good place to spend the night after a little hike as the first stop in the Quilotoa Loop. Nice breakfast and dinner included. It might seem a bit expensive for a hostel, but it was totally worth it. Gio and the rest team were very attentive and made everything to make me feel good. Jacuzzi and sauna are amazing for preparing yourself for the upcoming hiking days.

Verified reviewBeautiful well-appointed ecolodge with attentive and courteous staff. The room was incredibly clean and comfortable and the in-room fireplace was wonderful for the cool evenings. It was the perfect stay after a long day of hiking. Highly recommend and would love to return one day.

Verified reviewThis was among the best places we’ve ever stayed! It was like a wee oasis after a long day hiking. Dinner and breakfast was tasty, the bed was comfy, hot water in the shower and a fireplace in the bedroom!
Cliche, but we didn’t like having to leave after only one night! We would definitely plan our walk better and enjoy a rest-day here if we ever pass through again!

Verified reviewThis is an amazingly beautiful hostel, you won’t be disappointed if it’s within your price range. The staff, food, facilities and cleanliness are all outstanding. Recommend .
Spa is nice but the sauna and steam room should be hotter, barely passable with the temperature during my stay

Verified reviewEveryone working there is so helpful. They are able to create a very enjoyable atmosphere for the guests. I'm not so much of a social person but I actually enjoyed having dinner at the same table as other guests. They also enquire about special dietary restrictions and take this into account for the food they serve. They offer a wide variety of activities, either tours but they also have a binder with many self-guided hikes around Isinvili ranging from one hour to all day. I also enjoyed that they try to involve the local community in their activities/offering so tourism benefits locals. As for the rooms, very comfortable, with all amenities.
Considering they actively take all sorts of good measures to limit water use, I find it a bit counterproductive to have to let the water run for a few minutes in the shower for it to become hot. I couldn't helped being bothered by it, even if they mention shower water is collected and reuse to water the garden. In Asia, people often have a big bucket in their shower to collect clean water before it gets warm. They then use it for other things. Maybe something similar could be tested during dry season.

Verified reviewProbably one of the best places I have stayed during my trip in Ecuador and in South America in general. The professional yet personal service of the staff was top notch (and they spoke good English, which is not to take for granted in Latin America), the common areas were so nice and cozy and warm with a fireplace, I felt like I could stay longer if I had more time. They also run activities to see a cheese factory, an indigenous market, horseback riding and more. At some point I felt sick due to the altitude and they really took care of me which is rare.
I needed a bit of time to get used to the type of sustainable toilet :) but that’s all good!

Verified reviewThis lodge is easily the best hostel we have ever stayed in. The main house, cabins, yoga rooms and spa (!) are all gorgeous and wonderfully well equipped. We loved the family-style meals at dinner and breakfast, the yoga class and the jacuzzi in the spa. The team went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable at any given moment :) We had an absolutely amazing time here and would strongly recommend that you stay at least two nights!

Verified reviewIncredible hostel to stay at in a beautiful part of Ecuador. A must stay if you’re doing the quilatoa trek (which you should do) and honestly I would 100% also plan a trip just to go to this hostel! The staff were so kind and helpful. The property itself is gorgeous, and food and family dinner was delicious!

Verified reviewIt was a wonderful hiking lodge, mostly of backpackers. We were a family who drove in. The staff was helpful. The breakfasts and dinners were great and they cater to different needs. It was enjoyable eating our meals all together. The view from our patio was amazing. The free yoga classes were great (7am and 4pm).
As I mentioned, we drove there. The final half hour was a one-lane, dirt road. Given all the rain Ecuador has had, there were tiny mud slides all around. It was a little nerve wracking. Luckily I wasn't doing the driving.
