How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLovely staff and a great location on the beach. Rooms were great and clean. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious. The cocktails were good.
We only managed to get hot water one evening. We stayed for 3 nights and had cold showers every morning and two of the three evenings. Breakfast was disappointing and not included in the room rate. We found that buying breakfast elsewhere was a better option. Wifi connection was often poor.

Verified reviewThe location is fantastic! Hotel is right on the beach--just steps away from white sand and being able to put your toes in the water. Additionally, it's an easy walk to either the main drag of the town where there are lots of restaurants, or to the main port, it's centrally located right between the two--easy walk.
MANY geckos/little lizards in my room. At any given point in time I could look up on the walls and ceiling and see several geckos in my room (i.e. seeing at least 6-7 at a time wasn't uncommon.) They would be chirping constantly, especially in evenings, and as a light sleeper even kept me up at night. There were many little holes in the ceiling/walls/windows so these critters (including other bugs) could easily crawl in--it's not like they just came in through an open door. Yes, I understand that I'm in the Galapagos, but ideally I would not have lots and lots of critters in my room. (I like to look at that outside, not in my room.) It prevented me from getting comfortable in the room, and my sleep suffered. Additionally, note that this was in their "best room" with the ocean view. As such, I didn't find the room worth the expense. The room opened up to the main deck area for the hotel (on the same ground level), so in the early morning/late evening I didn't even want to open the curtains to look out at the beach because I didn't want people to look in at me in my pajamas. And then during the day I wasn't in the room. So, it was an expensive "upgrade" that I didn't even really use. Additionally, I didn't like the fact that on the day I checked in they didn't even tell me that there was no water at the property that day. I had to figure that out on my own when the toilet wouldn't flush. As best that I could tell it was not the hotel's fault that they ran out of water, but I still would have expected some notice, etc. The water was turned back on later that day thankfully.

Verified reviewThe location of the hotel is nice. The TV is good so you can relax during the night. There is a beach in front of you in case if you want to take a sun bath or swimming. The room size is actually good, I did like the design of the room. The staff was kind and helpful.
The interior ( furniture ) is old and dated back from the 1960'ies. This is very unappealing and unattractive. The WiFi is the worst, it is not even working from my room, even that my room is just next to the reception, so when I go to the reception, then the WiFi works. The price for this room is extremely overrated, this is not value for the money. I wish that hotel was a bit more service minded. The breakfast was terrible, it is too basic and didn't taste good at all. After I checked out from the hotel ( 5 hours later ), they contacted me and asked me if I accidentally took the key with me, this alone indicate that the hotel is disorganized and messy. I personally would not recommend this hotel, they can do it better and to make it more comfortable to respect their guest. It is clear that the room has not been upgraded. They have a fancy table lamp that is annoying to use, it has a QI charger that doesn't even work. Most hotels has USB charging station, which this hotel does not have.
Dear Benji, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m truly sorry to hear about your experience, and I sincerely regret that we didn’t meet your expectations. While we strive to ensure our guests have a wonderful stay, we understand that it’s not always possible to please everyone. Regarding your concerns, we have not received similar comments about our breakfast or furniture before, but we will carefully review these areas to ensure we maintain the highest standards. As we are located in the Galápagos Islands, providing reliable Wi-Fi across all areas can be challenging due to infrastructure limitations. However, we are actively working on upgrades to improve connectivity and overall comfort for our guests. We genuinely appreciate your feedback, as it helps us grow and improve. I hope you’ll give us another opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future. Warm regards, Juan Serrano manager

Verified reviewBeautiful property, very clean. It is close to the deck where boats arrive/depart. Stuff was super friendly and welcoming, we had a very early boat in the morning so we couldn’t attend breakfast so stuff provided us with some snacks and drinks the night before, which was very kind and attentive.

Verified reviewWe had the best time at Isamar Hotel. It is only a ten minute walk from the ferry. Situated on a public but quiet beach, with large rooms. Each room bungaglow-style, with huge comfy beds, enough space and windows (at least from our room) allowing you to look directly at the sea. The staff were extraordinary, super helpful, booking trips and ferries for you, giving great recommendations for trips and to dos on the island. We can highly recommend staying at Isamar. It is hands down one of - if not the one - most beautiful hotel on Isabella.
The A/Cs of the other rooms are positioned directly on front of the room situated behind it, which is pretty loud at night. Even the sea can't compete.

Verified reviewRight on a Phenomenal Beach. I could hear the waves from my room. This is one of the best beaches in the world; I have been on Grace Beach in Turks, all over Hawaii, etc. It is beautiful and completely undeveloped. So peaceful and safe. Breakfast was generous, staff was phenomenal. The room was very comfortable, and the bathroom was great.

Verified reviewLocation close to the peer and on the beach. Great staff, especially manager (lady, do not know her name) was very helpful. Food in the restaurant was very nice and for reasonable money, recommended also by locals. Rooms were nice and comfortable.
I think that price is a bit higher than it should be. Pictures on Booking do not fit with reality. I was negatively surprised after my arrival by the outside looking, expected it nicer. But it was ok in the end and I was satisfied and would recommend this hotel.

Verified reviewTruly a hidden gem, the location on the beach is fabulous. Juan and staff offer unparalleled service. We had a room facing the ocean and I was concerned about noise from other guests and those dining from other part of Isabela sitting outside our room but by 9pm we had it once again all to ourselves, so that was not a problem at all. I enjoyed the bar area and seating areas outside our room all the while we were there. It was hard to leave and explore other parts of town for dining because it was so beautiful so we enjoyed the restaurant both nights. It was a wonderful way to end an 11 day Galapagos trip of a lifetime.
Nothing I can think of.

Verified reviewI loved my stay at this hotel! I didn’t expect this level of service and comfort on Isabella island at all! Stuff was very nice and friendly , super attentive and almost everyone called me by my name during my stay! I had sea view room (which was very spacious) and luxury to sleep every night with sound of ocean! Location of hotel is perfect for travelers like me who is looking for peace and quiet, but still couple minutes walk from all restaurants and bars. And it’s right at the beach so you can walk barefoot from your room for sunrise / sunset Hotel was so great that one day I decided to stay in the property and do nothing enjoying the atmosphere instead of going to a tour! Loved it!!! Highly recommend!

Verified reviewThe location near the center, and near the beach.
No beach chairs. Only at the property, but not on the beach. Area/tour info given by the manager was not up to date. (Roads were closed. I hot correct info from a hostel guest though) They offer happy hour, but hard to find the bartender to get your 2nd drink. The owner was pushing to much to eat in the hotel. (“Be careful with eating food, not good for your stomach, very risky”) - So decided to not eat in the hotel at all. They charged me 20$ for the port pickup (700m). They said the reason was they had to wait for the boat. - Well I had a similar pickup in San Cristobal. And the hotel was at 2-3 km. But I only paid 2$. Breakfast was very basic
Dear guest Due to the regulations of the Galapagos we are not allowed to place Chairs on the beach but we have plenty of them on the deck in front of the ocean; in terms off food we were trying to avoid you to get sick because very often that people gets sick due to the water which is being used to cook sorry to worried about your health. About directions we even provide maps so if you have problems you can find yourself. A normal taxi cost you $5.00 but to have a driver that was waiting for you with a sign twenty-five minutes before you get to the taxi of course is more expensive. About the transfer out that you request for you didn't pay because you lie to the driver that the hotel will pay. We always promote the best service to our guest. We are so sorry that you didn't enjoy your experience.

Verified reviewLocation, ambirnce, restaurant, staff. We spent 4 nights and had eaten only at their place with the deck and ocean view. Very efficient AC, flexible attitude as we were allowed to check in at 9AM. Will return.
Laimdry service is drastically overpriced. We paid $27 for a small bag. Similar ammount costs $3 in Santa Cruz (not at hotel though but pro laundry). Minor detail anyway.
