Loved my stay here. It's a peaceful spot with beautiful mountain views — not Cotopaxi itself, but plenty of stunning scenery all around. The guesthouse has a great vibe that matches the calm surroundings. Also a perfect base to explore many nice places nearby. Highly recommend if you want to slow down and take it all in.

The water was a bit chilly, but I learned a key tip- in Ecuador, you have to only rotate the faucet 1/4 of the way to get the hottest water!

This was such a unique and beautiful place to stay. There were stunning views throughout the property. The lodging was very comfy and I felt very safe as a solo traveler. The couple who ran it were very friendly and welcoming. Also, the dogs who live on the property are SO cuddly and sweet and they really helped with missing my pup from home!

Aracely welcomed us with open arms. She made us feel at home from the moment we met. We had a great time and wonderful memories. There are adorable dogs too. The room is comfy and had just what we needed considering the fact that we were in the countryside. Aracely offers breakfast and dinner. So no need to look for restaurants around. Beautiful views over the mountain from the guesthouse.

We loved everything about the property. It felt secluded but it was the perfect place to stay to access Cotopaxi. Aracely is an amazing host, she is so kind and helpful and makes you feel welcome from the minute you arrive. She helped us arrange a tour to the Cotopaxi refuge. Meals can be provided on site for a small fee and at your convenience. If you love dogs, this is the place for you!! There are four beautiful dogs at the property and we loved all of them.

The host was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The owners take obvious pride in what they are building. The common areas and kitchen are large, clean and welcoming. The personalized breakfast was excellent.

The only thing that was disappointing was not having much hot water and the breakfast was just ok.

One of our favourite places in Ecuador, felt just like home and Aracely is lovely! The perfect place to stay if you want to visit Cotopaxi, Lake Quilotoa and all of the other nearby volcanos. There are multiple options offered for each tour activity and the prices are extremely good for private tours. The area of El Chaupi was very peaceful, safe, and welcoming. Her family have very friendly dogs too!!

The host Arecely is the heart of Mateospaxi and treated us like family as soon as we arrived. We felt very comfortable and Mateospaxi had everything we needed as a base to explore Cotopaxi national park, including access to kitchen. Arecely helped us to organise a tour for Cotopaxi and was very attentive and responsive throughout. Would 100% recommend to anyone!

It was all okay.

The owner has a golden heart and a knowledge about everything in the neighbourhood. She helped is with the tours and her care was amazing. We got even upgrade of the rooms for free. Really lovely, silent and relaxed place.

We had a wonderful stay! The host and the apartment were excellent, with a private room and bathroom that were both clean and comfortable. The hosts were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to help us and gave us fantastic tips about the area. If you're into mountaineering in the Ecuadorian mountains, this is the perfect place to stay. We wish we could give more than 5 stars and will definitely be back for a longer stay in the future. -Laura & Lukas

We had a group of 4 people and all had a wonderful time staying at Mateopaxi. Host is awesome. She gave us tips for our Cotopaxi adventure the following day. The breakfast the following morning was yummy and set us up for a day of hiking. I certainly recommend staying here!

Mateospaxi is such a lovely place to stay, it is very peaceful and comfortable with great facilities and is so close to several volcanos to go hiking. Aracely is such a wonderful host, she really goes out of her way to make sure her guests feel at home.
