Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesMake sure you bring insect repellent! It is nature so mosquitos are no joke. The property is not far from the town but since it’s located in the deep of the forest, the roads can be a bit rough to drive on if you want to drive yourself. It wouldn’t be a problem at all if you would love to have the property arrange pickup/ drop off.
The property is located in the heart of cloud forest, run by a biologist couple. They dedicate their lives to create a sustainable ecosystem for local animals and plants with minimal chemicals and human interruptions (you definitely should check out the biopiscina). We do feel like we are elves living in the paradise. Our cabin (with all modern facilities) is surrounded by lake, woods, quite stone roads stretching deep into the forests and countless plants and birds. We really didn’t have to leave the property since we could simply hike and birdwatch inside the property. The crews also offered seamless top tier hospitality- they provided car services from Quito to the property, helped us recruit birdwatching tour guide and provided all the information should we need for the trip.

PortugalBe aware that there are lots of bugs around. Given that it's a wet forest, it is to be expected, but I was still surprised by the number of mosquito bites I received. It didn't help I took little precaution about it, so a lot of it i's my fault. Another point to be aware is access to town. Driving in is not always possible (only with 4x4 as you need to cross a few ankle high streams), and town is around 20min drive away. Personally this enhanced the holiday, as I wanted to get away from it, but you should be aware
The cabin is beautiful and very comfortable. The lodge is well-maintained, offering scenic views, peaceful sounds, and incredibly nice people. My partner and I stayed here for five days following a trekking holiday to relax and reconnect, and it was exactly what we needed. The staff was not only caring but also attentive, genuinely listening to our feedback and making small changes daily to enhance our experience. We had an amazing time.

United StatesSacha Urco Lodge is in a breathtakingly beautiful setting outside of Mindo - a private reserve where you can see toucans and hummingbirds just walking around the property. I had a large well-equipped house to myself. Comfortable and clean. Each cabin/unit is a beautifully designed architectural gem. I enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast, both of them prepared to order by the proprietors (additional charge). Sol and Juan, the lovely and friendly couple who have built Sacha Urco and made it their home, couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. They offered many suggestions of things to do in the area. Highly recommended!

HungaryTony and the staff were great, our bungalow was awesome, and the remote location was relaxing. We cooked some meals and also ate at their restaurant. If you enjoy lots of birds and other wildlife, you'll love it. Town with supplies is about 15 minutes away.

This is a very special place. My cabin was absolutely beautiful, and the land is magical. I saw toucans from my balcony and Tony was very helpful throughout my stay. The bed was very comfortable and the jacuzzi bath was a dream with views of the forest.

United KingdomEverything was great.
Sacha Urco Lodge is owned and run by Sol and her Biologist husband Juan. It is set in 150 hectares of beautiful primary forest with trails to walk within. We ate a delicious home cooked meal there on our first night and breakfast was equally good. We walked trails within the reserve and saw monkeys, toucans and lots of other lovely birds. Our accommodation was beautiful, made from locally sourced natural resources. The natural beauty of the lodge and surroundings, and the personal service by the owners makes it a wonderful place to stay.

United StatesIt was a little bit far from the town, but still well worth it! They really have a beautiful piece of land. We saw many birds just having breakfast and dinner here.
This has to be one of my favorite places we stayed in Ecuador. I believe they own about 150 hectares of land, so there was plenty of wildlife. We saw many beautiful birds on this property. We also saw an Ecuadorian capybara running through the yard. They do have trails you can walk in that make a loop. Breakfast was absolutely amazing! We even had dinner here as well. All around a great place to stay!

FranceAccomodation are exceptional. Well built chalets, large room, large terrace, large bathroom. Lots of natural light. Very clean. Lodge right near a large expanse of preserved forest, several hikes available departing from the lodge. Excellent food, many organic products grown in the kitchen garden. The owner is super helpful.

CanadaThe Owner Sol was very helpful and a great cook along with her assistant. The lodge was organised and very quiet and if you want to see Hummingbirds there are hundreds of them and very friendly. I would stay here again maybe next year on our way to the coast

United KingdomIt gets very damp in a cloud forest...! we had to dry out clothes that were hanging inside on the balcony when there was sun. there was no fan downstairs in the cabin to do this and we brought our own washing line and pegs. As above although the new manager was a very nice man he didnt know all we needed and his boss the owner who was sick didnt even avail herself at a distance to answer questions. We saw her finally the last morning of a 4N stay.
This is near the end of a valley away from Mindo- as such very peaceful and "away from it all" - however of you want a meal in Mindo you have to get a taxi and go 25 mins down a bumpy road. The cabana 2 was lovely and it really could sleep 5 if a family ie parents and 3 children- NB the steps to the loft beds are steep. The walks from there are lovely- but on this occasion the manager was new and found it difficult to direct us- he didnt know the paths. Also the tours one could get- he didnt know how to access them ( apart from the butterfly farm) and so we organised them ourselves out of Mindo. Breakfasts good.
