How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Breakfast was thoughtfully arranged, with a well-balanced selection of nutritious options to start the day. I’ll definitely recommend this place to all my friends visiting Cotopaxi!

Verified reviewThis was an unbelievable experience! It is a perfect getaway in Andes, very authentic place surrounded by endless mountains. Restaurant serves delicious Andean food, staff members are very friendly and helpful! It is a perfect stay for hikers and climbers who are willing to spend several days in Cotopaxi valley. The sky at night…. Unbelievable! They have a very good wifi, rooms are big and clean, hot water. Stove works perfectly well - I left it on for a couple of hours, and warmed my room for the whole night. Several blankets. All cabins have a wonderful view of the mountains. I highly recommend!!
It’s not related to the property, but something that you have to be aware of - roads are pretty challenging in Cotopaxi park even for experienced drivers. Make sure that you have an SUV or pickup truck to get there without having driving anxiety 😀luckily, rental company warned me in advance and they gave me suv. With a small car you can still get to the lodge (it’s just 2km away from the north entrance and road is more or less okay), but driving in Cotopaxi park is a challenge! Stay safe!

Verified reviewIncredible location with incredible views from the bed. Sit and have a meal or relax with a beer and watch the hummingbirds at the window. Food was great as was the service. The room was perfect and the log burning stove lit in the early evening. I can’t fault it at all. Highly recommended. A good base for climbing volcanoes or just relaxing.

Verified reviewThe location is the best, Cotopaxi is right there for us to enjoy and the surroundings to explore. The food was great, even though the kitchen has to get their timing right because our dishes did not came at time to the table at lunch or dinner.
I think the staff could use a little training regarding costumer service. Nevertheless they were friendly and helpful, just not the service you expect for the price tag.

Verified reviewWonderful location with full view of Cotopaxi if weather permits and we were lucky. Comfortable lodge with wood fire and great beds/comforter. Great hot showers. We enjoyed the trout in the restaurant. The roads to the lodge or anywhere in the national park are full of pot holes. We took transport from locals through the hotel, amazing drivers.

There are no signs on how to get to reception for check-in. We arrived on a rainy day and found it difficult to figure out where to go first

There is no regular heat - just a wood stove. You have to request to have them come light the stove and it doesn’t last that long. They didn’t answer my call or text (Wi-Fi isn’t always working) so to make the requests I had to walk all the way up to the restaurant to ask someone - and then wait. They do not speak English so I had to use my Google Translator and show it to them so they would even understand what I was asking.

Verified reviewThe person on reception was not very helpful and didn't seem interested in us at all. The rest of the staff were great. The information given when booking is not very truthful as we didnt have a patio etc.
More information supplied about the area. The room was so tiny and noisy from the lady above so the rooms not sound proofed as we could hear the person on the phone to her.
