How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe sweetest and most engaging host we had during our entire trip! Offered to pick us up in the airport at half the price of a taxi and gave several advice for activities for our day as there is not too much to do in that area (conveniently close to airport)

Verified reviewconvenient departure hotel for flight the following morning to Galapagos. Owner was very pleasant.
Disappointed the breakfast was not served until after 7:30 AM, and we need to be at the airport by 7:30 AM

Verified reviewFelipe is an amazing host -- friendly and super attentive, and very willing to go the extra mile to make sure all is going well during your stay. El Chapelet is in an excellent location, near the airport, yet in a small town setting surrounded by corn fields and fruit trees. I feel very safe there, even when traveling alone.

Verified reviewLocation is 12min from the airport. Room was comfortable, with good hot shower. Staff was kind and helpful (but did not speak English). Overall highly recommended for a near-aiport accomodation.
Bad is a bit small (as costumed in Ecuador)

Verified reviewIt was really nice to have the owner paciently wait for us very late 1:a.m! As our flight was very delay from Bogota. We rang the door bell and he came out right away
As we got there very late we could not see then our surroundings. The owner showed us a a really nice large porch upstairs to use and proceded to show us where we were staying. There was a very nice very large and cozy living room area. Our bedroom was cozy with comfy covers/ blankets and the place was very clean and cozy. The bed was very comfortable :-) He also offers taxi service ( wish i knew this beforehand) The next day when we were ready to leave and to our surprice he said are you ready for your breakfast! That breakfast is included! I was so0o0ovpleased! A ham and cheese toasted sandwich was prepared right on the lovely dinner area and a bowl of fresh fruits picked from he's garden was deliverd a cup of coffee with milk, and, seriously the best Mora juice I've had ever! This touches along with he's cute little now but very large dog to be who's eye speaks more than a thousand words was the extra level of sweetness! In this place you feel the love and care all around you. The owner was so sweet and acomodating. You do feel like you are staying in your home away from home. This is in a very large property and they do have many different rooms that would be perfect for you! Also they accept pets! Now that we know this place and the info we will be returning there with our fur baby. We are glad to have found this place from now on when we leave Cotacachi to go to Quito we will definitely spend the night here in Chapalet Hostal. Already planning for an outing with some of our friends to visit when they have music there (the owner plays guitar and they have a 5-6 ppl band, would enjoy nice romantic music and a lovely place to stay! And cooking could be arrange as well ( no need to leave the place!)

Verified reviewProperty has beautiful fruit trees, many species of birds, and is secure. Rooms were spacious, mattresses comfortable and we were able to watch major convention in English on YouTube.
A little traffic noise.

Verified reviewReally lovely place, they even made fresh vegetarian dishes and super good juice from the garden. Big garden and nice balcony. You have some small shops and bakery in walking distance. The owner was superfriendly and helped us with everything (even brought us to the airport in the middle of the night for a reasonable price). One of the best places we stayed so far.
A chair in the room would be nice

Verified reviewVery nice guesthouse with common areas, green spaces and super friendly staff. They offer food at the place for a good value (3-5$ the plate) and the quality is good. Also taxi ride to the airport for $5. Manolo and her daughter are super friendly, allowing you to store your backpacks or extra luggage for free if you go to Galapagos for example. The room and facilities are super clean. Good place to rest.
There is not much to do around, a 5-10 min walk to get to a shop is needed but did not bother us. It would be great if they offer water gallons to refill your bottle.

Verified reviewFirst, I want to apologize for confusing this location with another location. I stayed here for my last night in Ecuador. I wanted to be close to the airport and not have to stress about getting there on time. I'm pretty sure I was the only one there, and will definitely stay here again. The young woman who checked me in was very kind and efficient. Surprisingly, they had a menu and had meals available (in addition to breakfast). I ordered a hamburger and was told it would be about half an hour. The facility is what appears to be a very spacious private home. The internet connection was good, the location was peaceful. My room was right across from a shared bathroom and spacious. All I needed was a clean room and a good night's sleep and accommodation worked perfectly. A taxi was arranged for me the night before and was right on time the next morning. The breakfast was filling. The town, from what I could tell, is very small with limited amenities. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable overnight stay for your flight out of Quito, I highly recommend Chapalet Hostal. :)
Nothing. It was perfect for what I needed.
