We had a great stay. The owner is very friendly and helpful. She even called knowledgeable friends when we had a question about the security of a certain bus tour. If you stay there you have to try her Empanadas! The rooms were clean and tidy, although aside from a bed and a small table there was not much in it. The common area and kitchen are cozy and well equipped. We also liked that the Hostel was located outside the town so you had a big garden with hammocks to relax in.

If you are sensitive regarding sounds at night you should bring earplugs. At night we sometimes heard noises because cats were running on the metal roof, because of the road or animals around. But for us this wasn't really a problem at all. Apparently there was an error with the price on booking so we had to pay a little bit (not the whole difference) on top, but the price was still fine.

Likes Quaint hostel with old style building with 'tired' but spacious rooms. There's a site cleaner. Owner and staff friendly, and coffee often offered! 10/15 minutes walk from bus station and town centre with plentiful bars & shops etc. Large garden to enjoy, weather permitting! Wifi/internet/network is excellent throughout, apart from the last night, when it was very poor, probably because of the weather. Kitchen basic but functional (although cramped if 2 or more guests trying to use at same time), with 2 lots of separate hobs (4 each), mini-oven, fridge/freezer, and microwave. Plenty of large pots, plates, bowls, etc. There was limited recycling of plastic bottles. Our room was at the front, close to the main road, but despite that, it was generally quite quiet at night. Ample hooks in bathroom and bedroom. The shower was hot and powerful as long as the water pressure remained high. Rooms were warm with plenty of blankets. Dislikes Access was through a double gated entrance that never seemed to be locked, and it's onto a road with many people passing, so a potential security risk. There was a strange chemical smell that kept appearing, not sure if it was from drain cleaning or the moth balls that were under the beds. The light in the bedroom and bathroom could have been better. It would have been nice to have a bedside lamp and bin. Bedroom storage was limited to a small bedside cabinet and a small shelving unit. There was a clothes rack, but only 4 coat hangers. The kitchen could have done with more smaller pots, not everyone wants to cook a large meal! Couldn't find anywhere to wash or hang clothes to dry. We were charged the tax, which we don't think is right, and only cash accepted. Apart from plastic bottles, there was no evidence of other recycling.

Hello friends, this is Fabricio, the owner, according to the lady administrator, she offered you our best room with a view to the mountains and very large bed (king size) with all the other requirements that you complain about in this review FOR THE SAME PRICE! The gate has a surveillance camera with motion sensor that obviously works 24/7 and I'm the one in charge of that in my cell phone... about the clothes racks you should've ask for more we are not mentalist same thing with the small pots wich there are plenty, hope you had a nice trip back to your beautiful country, God bless you!

If you’re looking for a place that screams motor club with a splash of hippie energy, look no further. This spot has just the right balance of rugged and chill, like if a leather-clad biker and a free-spirited yogi decided to open a guesthouse together. The room? Solid. The kitchen? Fantastic. But the real star? The garden, complete with hammocks that made us question whether we ever needed to leave. Toss in some super nice staff, and you’ve got the perfect place to relax, whether that means swapping road trip stories or just swinging in a hammock contemplating life. Would 100% stay again. Maybe I’ll even get a motorcycle next time.

The owner Fabricio was so helpful and friendly. Well equipped clean kitchen and spacious eating and chill out areas. Added bonus of BBQ grill + open fire and huge grassed area. Excellent value for money. We had a queen size bed and private bathroom in a room away from the road noise which made our stay very comfortable. The hostel is on the edge of town, with a 5 minute walk to great fruit market 3 times a week and all shops you would need. Much better than staying in the town which is noisy and quite busy. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Fabricio was easily the kindest, most hospitable host I have ever encountered. He immediately made me feel welcome, gave me rides in his car and always played great music in the common area! Also he held onto my luggage while I went up a mountain for a night. The hostel is everything I look for - nice, well equipped kitchen, plenty of space, great value and very comfortable beds. I slept for 11 hours both nights I stayed there! It was the cheapest place available on booking.com and I can't imagine I'd have found anything better in town, or in Ecuador in general. My private room was actually cheaper than a dorm room in another hostel! Thoroughly recommend it!

There's a loud rooster nearby, maybe some people should bring earplugs. Didn't bother me at all though.

    Property response:

Thanks so much Angus, hope to see you again!

As soon as I arrived, Fabricio (the owner) greeted me calling me by my name..because he knew I was arriving. Few minutes after he offered me a better room, for no change of rate. In the following days he helped me with several things, also for unexpected issues I had. The accommodation itself is in a beautiful location, rooms are very nice and rates extremely competitive. I couldn't ask for more

The owner was us educated, very kind. Well equipped kitchen, stunning view. Large common space. Can't beat the price. It's also a common choice for cyclists and bikers.

Internet can be a bit slow at times. The street noise might be a bit much for sensitive travellers.

A bit loud with the main street as well as rain on the metal roof.

I liked the personnel in the location: their correspondence helped ensure I got to the location the fastest and safest. They also have people who can communicate in English. There is a kitchen area and they even offer avocados and a community pantry for everyone (when available). I felt my belongings were 100% safe in the hostel and entry at night was prompt. They also offer towels for rent too. And finally, the accommodation is phenomenal.

While the showers are working, it was difficult to produce hot water at times. The water did warm up, but I got the warmer water at lower power. As for the location: the location is far enough from the town to have silence at night; but, you may feel a bit of a walk. The distance is good enough not to be a burden but far enough to be mindful.
