Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe loved our time at Baba Dool on Elephantine Island. The place is super relaxed, with a really warm and friendly vibe that makes you feel at home straight away. The island itself is beautiful and peaceful, but it’s also easy to hop across to Aswan when you want to explore. Raghda is so lovely, always around for a chat or to help with whatever you need. Also extremely helpful helping us with day tours at great prices from lical people. It is easy to see why Lonely Planet picked this spot. We left feeling so happy and already planning to come back one day. Thank you for your hospitality 🙏😊

GermanyBaba Dool is a very fascinating and warm-hearted place and we feel in love immediately. Rawia is the owner of this beautiful place and she gives this place the feeling that you don't want to leave any more or want to come back as fast as possible. The dinner, which is made by Rawia herself is organic and super tasty! The food is local, fresh and beautiful served. You have a stunning view on the Nil and the wild life surrounded. The bed was super comfortable and beautiful decorated. We enjoyed having breakfast in the early morning at Baba Dool! Rawia is such an inspiring and loving host and she took care of all the little details. It felt like home! Thank you Rawia for these great memories! We will definitely come back!

United KingdomA beautiful location, very peaceful and an amazing sunset. I will definitely return and will stay here again. The rooms are clean, remain cool thanks to the very thick walls and the house is an idyllic style with an idyllic setting. Don't even doubt staying here. FranceThree French men travelling around Egypt stopped at Baba Dool place for a one night stay. Rawia welcomed us with a lot of hospitality and we enjoyed her dinner meal! The accomadation is clean, air conditioned and benefits from a wonderful view on the west Nile river side. We all three recommend this place ! One advice : when you arrive in Aswan, make sure to take the local ferry at good price (close to the KFC restaurant). A little walk will lead you to Baba Dool place and make you discover the Elephantine island atmosphere.

HungarySimple but exceptionally well run and friendly Family Guesthouse on Elephantin Island, far from the noise of Aswan, yet very close to all action. The best feature of the two Ladies who runs it, Rawya & Raghda, they are the most helpful operators we’ve ever met, you can rely on them totally. Thanks again!

AustraliaThe back streets can be a bit intimidating for the older tourists. Not really for those with large rolling suitcases.
Right on the Nile this place had an amazing view. Great spot for backpackers and the adventurous. The owner, Like every owner will try to sell you tour packeges but sometimes that is convenient. She is a darling. Don't bother with the Aswan dam, its really unimpressive but this place is a great welcoming place to relax and enjoy Nubian hospitality.

Cape VerdeVery nice place, on the other side of the island, maybe a bit complicated to reach if by foot, but it is completely worth it. Room was nice and cool (44 deg outside that day) and very colorful. I had dîner and breakfast there, it was very good, homemade traditional nubian food. To change from the very busy town, it is a place to go to definitely.

Czech RepublicWe were in Aswan for the first time, so we don't know anything about it. We arrived by boat to Elephantine Island and had to look for where to go, because it's such a maze (all those alleys) you can easily get lost there. And if you're dragging your suitcase along that road, it's not very pleasant to get lost and look for the way for more than 40 minutes, like us 😢😢 it would be great if the staff came to pick us up and escort us tired tourists to the hotel ... such behavior would definitely be welcomed by all tired tourists from a long journey. when we finally found the hotel, there was no one to accommodate us... so we had to wake up the hotel owner (at 2 pm) and wait for her to send someone to accommodate us... then we found out that the apartment we wanted (for $21 per night) was a black hole with one mini window... which is of course enough for you to sleep in - we wouldn't mind, but the room wasn't even ready for us... before there was probably a restaurant or cafe Ibiza, now unfortunately out of order 😢😢😢 so if you wanted to go for a coffee or a drink you had to go through a maze to the store to buy something. or to the Jamaica restaurant. I guess I'm picky because I travel a lot... but I've never experienced such behavior from the staff as here 😢🤔🤔🤔 We bought some trips from the owner of the accommodation (of course at much higher prices than others offer - of course we count on that, it's our first time here) but.... as I already wrote, I didn't like the behavior of the staff at all. For the trip at 3 in the morning, the gentleman was supposed to take us to the boat, but he walked so fast and didn't look back at us at all that we didn't have time to catch up with him 😢😢😢🤔 because I have sick lungs... when after 10 minutes of waiting in a deserted alley at the crossroads we didn't know which way to go... (because those alleys are a maze) then he sent someone to take us to the boat.
The hotel is nice with a beautiful view of the Nile 😍 if you pay extra for the room (we did, so the room with a balcony cost us $34 per night) + you can take a boat directly to the city from each hotel. Otherwise, you can take a public boat, which is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel... if you don't get lost in those streets, where there are not many signs where everything is... There is a restaurant called King Jamaica on Elephantine Island ❤️ I recommend it

SwitzerlandRoom very nice and super clean. The owner is very friendly, helpful and efficient: on top of organizing a smooth pickup by boat on the day of our arrival, she kindly offered to contact the staff from our cruise (in Arabic) to make sure that everything would be fine when we would leave (and it was). Nice and authentic food. Very nice location. Easy to contact and communicate with in English and very responsive.

Oasis of peace in the middle of Aswan with Rawja welcoming smile and great traditional Nubian breakfast. The location of the guest house is EASY to find.Any driver will tell you and guide you where Baba Dool is .They will drop you at a small terminal for a boat going to ELEPHANTINE island which costs only 10 EGP and in 5 minutes you are on the other side, then 7 minutes walk between little houses and you are there easily. No problem at all.Its safe it's quiet and comfortable place to rest.Highly recommended ! 5 *****

NetherlandsGreat stay by the Nile I had a really nice stay here. The room was super clean and tidy, which made it very comfortable. The host was welcoming and really on top of everything, making sure everything ran smoothly. The best part was definitely the terrace overlooking the Nile—such a peaceful spot with an amazing view of the hills. I also really enjoyed the tea and the homemade dinners, which were delicious and felt like real home cooking. Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing stay by the river!

I highly recommend to everyone to stay in the Elephantine island so you can experience peace and quiet, and life of the native Nubian people. Baba Dool is a great choice.

United KingdomA few more facilities in the room would be useful. Many of these were provided when requested - but a top sheet, soap, a kettle and a bottle of water in the room would be simple ways to make the stay more comfortable.
Fantastic views from the balcony rooms across the Nile to the botanical gardens. With this view and an evening felucca ride we no longer felt the need for a Nile cruise, probably saving us a fortune! Mattresses were comfortable too.

Perfect stay ! I advise everyone to get the balcony rooms. You will get the best view from Asswan, with the sunset in front of you. Food was local, massive, and so tasteful. Staff is incredibly kind to customers. The house is open since 25 years, the oldest guesthouse on Elephantine Island, and they perfectly know their jobs. Our nights were quiet (which is not that easy in Egypt). Definitely the best place to stay on Elephantine Island, and of all Asswan. Thanks again to everyone, we hope to come back as soon as possible

RomaniaI loved this beautiful Nubian guesthouse on the bank of the Nile! It's in a bit more isolated area of the island which is great, while also getting good access to every amenity (the central area is a 6-10 min walk). The host was amazing and really welcoming of me, they cooked me breakfast and dinner (with locally sourced ingredients) and gave me a lot of great recommendations and contacts. The room is quite big and the bathroom and common areas are all clean. The views are simply incredible. I highly recommend!
