How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe room is amazing, everything looks brand new, clean and comfortable. The shower is great, the bathtub size is also great. Staff amazing! Sooo helpful. I was a bit lost when I arrived and he helped me, carried my luggage and was always happy to answer any messages. Nothing to complain!!
The ONLY thing that wasn't 5 stars it's the location. It's quite hidden in the end of a road with many camels/horses and the drivers were getting lost in the way everytime I was going outside. But once you know where you are/where you are going to, it gets easier - but still not convinient.

Verified reviewKareem is the sweetest. We are very satisfied by our stay. The view from the room is amazing!!! And only 10min walk from the pyramids location.
The water in the bathtub was hot and then cold and then very cold. That was the only disadvantage.

Verified reviewYou just can't beat being that close to the pyramids for the price. The host, Karim, was exceptionally hospitable. Even helped show me how to tie a headscarf.
Pretty small and location was tricky, even for local taxis.

Verified reviewThe host is a nice man and helpful. He always asks if you need anything and if everything is ok. When I arrived from the airport and was tired, he welcomed me with a cold and refreshing drink. The price is very good for what you're getting, a clean room and a shared bathroom, tea and coffee replenished every day. The location is close to the entrance to the pyramids site but outside there are a lot of horses and camels and therefore it smells. You can get Uber and I had no problems getting Uber from this location.

Verified reviewI liked the room design, it was fairly modern. It was clean, the bed was comfortable. The heater worked. The mini fridge worked. The staff was kind and gentlemanly. The nice view.
Due to our plane being delayed, we missed our connecting flight to Cairo, we warned the hotel owner immediately that we would not be able to make it for the night and would come the next day as follows. We had been traveling the whole day, and our Uber to the hotel tried to scam us for 500 EGP when we already paid on the Uber app. Then all we wanted to do was wash off and go to sleep because by the time we got to the hotel, it was 1 AM. But no, instead we were met with a sketchy, run-down area where no women were near. It was unsafe, stinky, and dirty. It's where the horses and camels are housed for tourists to take them to the pyramids since they're right next door. Every day we had to dodge poop and dodgy individuals who stared at us, on the way to our room and back. Let's forget they abuse these poor creatures and have them malnourished, neglected, and whipped. We had to climb stairs that looked like they were about to fall apart. We were on the last floor of course and of course, no elevator. We finally settled in the room and were about to eat dinner after not eating since 2 PM. When he suddenly barged in and demanded we pay for the night we didn't sleep here. Even though we warned him that we wouldn't be able to come because of unfortunate circumstances. He wanted us to pay 70$ when my friend who stayed there paid 10$ a night... Yeah ok, buddy. We tried to reason with him but he barely spoke English and was very cavalier about our feelings. He wasn't being reasonable and we even tried to pay his half for what he wanted to settle this dispute. I have this feeling that he only treated us like this because we are women and according to the Quran therefore inferior and not as smart as men... yea ok.

Verified reviewWhile the location was a little hard to find, it's completely worth it once you see the view. Truly spectacular view of the pyramids.
For the price and location I can't complain. You're not staying at a 5 star hotel, however, Karim's hospitality makes up for it.

Verified reviewThis clean, modern guesthouse is on the top floor of a residential building. It is in a safe local area just 6 minutes walk from the Giza pyramid entrance. All the horses and camels that give rides to tourists live in the street overnight, so yes you will see animals and animal shit. But there is no animal noise or smell in the apartment 4 floors up. I would ask those previous reviewers that complained about this: Why did you come to Egypt? The owner, Karim, is quiet and thoughtful. He keeps himself to himself, but will help you out when you ask. There is a kettle/tea/coffee in the room, and a fridge and water cooler in the communal area. The water cooler was a really nice touch, and saves you carrying endless bottles of water up the stairs. A mix of touristy and local restaurants within easy walking distance. But best of all: THE VIEW OF THE PYRAMIDS FROM THE BALCONY, including the free viewing of the Sound and Light show Wednesday to Sunday (a little underwhelming - don't pay to see it). We actually stayed here 3 nights. It was cheaper and more peaceful to stay here than in central Cairo. Uber from here to central Cairo was only $2 each way, so you can do a day of city sightseeing and come back and sleep looking at the pyramids. Wow! We will definitely be back.
The place is tricky to find, but Karim will come out into the street to meet you. There is no breakfast, but you can buy simple breakfast items and keep them in the fridge.
