Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyDisliked · The mattress hurts my back a lot! It was super hot for me so I’m middle of the night I had to leave cause I was just sweating. I told the night manager , no reaction. Next day I told this the manager and she said there is actually aircon 🥶 When I arrived 5am in the morning I didn’t have any booking. So I still got charged by the property 500egp in cash for whole day, what made me feel unappreciated for a super short night. Nothing that can’t be fixed! I come back :)
It’s a nice hostel little place, exceptional clean for Egyptian standard! Mattress was too soft. Liked · I liked the staff especially the kind manager! Big rooms, big place to walk around, nice view, nice little hangout area, breakfast was nice. Cheap acco good value!

United KingdomIt is an old building so there were lots of bare wires / holes in walls etc. It was cheap so we can't complain as you get what you pay for. The lift on the way up scared our boys more than anything as it was very rickety 😬
The staff were really friendly.

Czech RepublicEverything was old/ worn off (passably clean but too worn off to feel clean) and the room felt like a room in a private larger apartment. I was texting the staff in advance asking for advice for booking tours to Giza pyramids but did not get a reply. I don’t mind much the noise but there was zero noice isolation and it is on a really busy interesection with beeping 24/7. One of the evenings there was a kid crying and running around for some time around midnight (not sure if it was another guest). The breakfast was just an omelette and bread.
The location is good and even if the place looks shady (including the building and the elevator ride) after exploring the city, i believe this neighbourhood is generally safe. There was 24-h staff that were generally ok.

GermanyThe Wi-Fi was a bit unstable at times, which can be frustrating. Also, finding the entrance was a little confusing - it’s tucked away and located on the 16th floor of the building, so we had to ask around to figure it out.
Just a heads-up: this is actually a hostel, not a hotel, which is important to know before booking. That said, our stay was pretty good overall! The location is great - right in the heart of downtown, so everything is easily accessible. The place was decently clean, and the staff were super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We also had a nice city view from the balcony, which was a bonus. With the weather hitting 36°C when we arrived, we were really grateful the AC worked perfectly!

TaiwanThe first day we wait breakfast about 20 minutes that was too long time , it seemed the lady served breakfast forgot it. They provided toilet paper which is a a small roll for two people in one room , we have to ask to have more everyday.
I stay 3 nights in a double beds room and one night in the dorm here. Feel very safe to stay here . The location is good , very close to the museum , just walk about 7 minutes. All the staff in the reception is very helpful , the girl Susu was always smiling , we asked her recommend some food around here that was good ! This hostel is in the 16 floor so you can see the Cario city view from window that is nice. Hostel provide water dispenser that is nice , you can also make hot tea in the small kitchen Here is clean , reception area is cozy.

PolandKeep in mind this is a hostel, so condtitions are lower than in hotels. However, our stay was pleasant. What was bother me it was lack of toilet paper beacuse nobody cleaned our room during our stay . Also, It's better to take your own soap...
The view from 16th floor was outstanding. The place is located in downtown close to city center on foot. Price of our room and breakfast was very good. The staff working there is very kind and helpful - I liked them all. Our room was specious and beds were comfortable. There is fresh, filtred water in a hall. All in all, I would stay there again. Best wishes!

United KingdomA good hotel with very friendly & helpful staff. Well worth the stay for the price. Good views from the reception window of the Nile. Have a fridge, kettle & microwave in the kitchen for everyone to use. They also have free drinking water in the reception area which was very good. Bottle water can also be purchased from the reception. They also had instant hot water, good WiFi & plenty of sockets in our room. The breakfast was good & had someone at the reception desk 24hrs. Had two lifts to the hotel which was good.

Romaniathe hostel is not having a sign outside of the huge building in which is located - coming at night can be a problem as we didn't find easily the building;
the fact that there was filtered water, the big windows and natural light, the large view over the city, proximity to main attractions, 24 hours reception, staff that was very friendly and supporting, comfortable beds, working internet, breakfast is nice (omelette, bread, gem)

DenmarkWhen we arrived, we were referred to another neighbouring hotel on our first night. That was a bit of hassle and the other hotel was not as nice and clean. We got to stay at Castle Hostel for the rest of our stay however.
Very nice location, wonderful view and friendly staff. Not luxury but good value for money.

FranceThe only thing we didn’t like was how thin the windows were since the streets of Cairo are quite noisy.
The staff (particularly Shimaa, Nada, and Faten) were very hospitable and helped us with any questions we had! We really enjoyed the free breakfast which included a freshly-made tea or coffee. The view of Cairo and proximity to The Egyptian Museum were great bonuses! Since the hostel is on the 15th floor, we also appreciated that there was an elevator. The building itself is a bit outdated, but the lobby and rooms were clean.
