David provided a breakfast each morning which was really nice to have. He knew we were leaving crazy early for Abu Simbel and he was up waiting for us with breakfast. That was above and beyond in my opinion.

I understand that the price is really low for a night. However, everything was outdated - bed, door, shower, air con. It's hard to sleep because of the creepy cabinet in my room. The shower head is full of rust. The table David offered when eating was too dirty. Good for 1 night stay for me. I am so sorry, just being honest here. But I hope David and his family can renovate the entire place as it has good potential.

David was accommodating. He let me stay from a solo room to a bigger room on the 2nd floor without additional charges. David also helped me to arrange my transport from Aswan Train Station to Abu Simbel then to Luxor the next day.

This is a hostel run by David and his wife Mariana. They are a very helpful and accommodating couple. The best part is the tour packages organized by David. Very fairly priced and seamless experience. I did Luxor and Abu Simbal, I wish I knew he does the Cairo trips as well, would have saved me a lot of hassles in Cairo. Highly recommend all the packages. If you need a bed to crash after a day long Aswan exploring this place is perfect. Thank you David & Mariana

The location of the hostel which is quite a distance from the city center of Aswan, even though, if you are a bit adventurous it is relatively easy to get to the center using public transportation.

Best stay you'll find in Aswan price-quality wise (don't expect a 5-star hotel, but a clean and cosy backpacktype-hostel atmosphere). The host David is utmost helpful in organizing tours and has quite an extensive network of contacts to get you to Abu Simbel, Philae Temple, Aswan Dam etc.

It says there is a shuttle service, but due to limited capacity it is sometimes unavailable. After checking out, I left my luggages at the reception desk, but they said that no one had the key and it took a very long time to have them back. It delayed my departure, so I would like to see a bit of improvements in communication within staff.

The leaking pipes in the bathroom. When you run the faucet, the pipes burst.

Very unusual pillow on our bed.

David and his wife arranged a very pleasant 4-day tour experience for us. He picked us up at the Aswan Airport, and we did site-seeing all day after that. We were pretty exhausted by the time that we got to his hostel. Shower spray bath was good, and the bed was comfortable. Very unusual pillow, but we coped. We left very early in the morning to begin the remainder of our tour by riverboat ending in Luxor. David arranged everything.

The hostel needs more cleaning and the mattress are uncomfortable and noisy.

David was extremely helpful, he organise our tours and we had great time. The free londry was good, also the light breakfast and dinner was OK for us.

I liked that the hostel was on a quite street and felt safe. It was easy to get around as there are plenty of tuk tuks driving on that street as you start walking towards the main road. It was clean and you can't complain about the price. They do serve food if you want to order something other than whats included or there is a restaurant across the street serving fish. Plenty of convenient stores next door and I was able to book all the tours I wanted. It was easy to get to the places I wanted but nice to get out of the noise.

The most important part of this place is its people. David was kind enough to send me a taxi right away by half of the price that I was offered at the airport. It’s nice to be helped when you arrived. Staff in the place are really nice as well.

If you are for high expectations 'posh' hotel experience, I am afraid you are in wrong place.

Very helpful, informative and well connected manager. Family run hostel is good as a hub for different travellers activities. Ask David any questions or consult with him about your plans - he will give you advice and manage to organise your trips. No nonsense hostel which provides enough for his guests. Enjoy to mingle with locals and see their life? - Go ahead, David hostel is your place. Both him and his wife deserve admiration for tirelessly helping travellers achieve their dreams!

The bed was a bit hard, but overall the room had everything for a short stay.

- There are a lot of points mentioned in the reviews but for us the biggest issue was the dusty blankets and slightly depressing basement room - Internet connectivity is also not good - Location is not a big problem. You can reach anywhere with 50EGP taxi ride (Indrive or Careem) or take the 5EGP shared vans from a point 5mins walk away. I would say if you are someone who can’t compromise on certain things then best is to just contact David on instagram to book tour and stay somewhere else!

It is very difficult to rate David’s property because you need to base everything with the price you pay. I would say this property is only for experienced backpackers who know compromises of a budget accommodations. David and his wife are very nice people who helped us with everything. The biggest positive was that David gave us amazing prices for all tours and activities (probably the cheapest)! We had abusimbel tour in shared minivan for 20$ pp, Taxi to luxor for 50$ and the luxor hot Balloon for 25$ which was highlight of our trip. Also you can pay for everything with card and free laundry!
