The Abu guest house was amazing,by far the best guest house I have been to. Everyone was so friendly and nice, the owner made sure everything was perfect and was lovely about everything. The breakfast was delicious, there was an option for an Egyptian breakfast giving us an invite to their traditions and culture. The view was beautiful and the boat trip was amazing, the owner having given us a personal trip on his boat around the river showing us all the islands and their history. Thank you for a memorable stay!!!!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Abu Guest House! Abu was an amazing host—friendly, polite, and very informative about the local culture and area. We felt very welcome throughout our stay. The property offered an authentic experience with beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere.

Nothing major—just note that the island location requires a short boat ride, so plan your transportation ahead for convenience, such as some walking on the Island, however this helps up really live like a local in Aswan.

Abu was an excellent host. He provided great recommendations and helped organize activities. The guest house is located on the quiet and picturesque elephantine island, a short and cheap ferry away from Aswan city, with great restaurants and people all around. Our room was very comfortable and clean, and breakfasts were delicious each day.

Abu Guest house is located in the quiet place of Elephantine island. With adequate greeneries around the guest house, the overlooking blue water of the Nile river and the distant deserted hills on the river banks make this place a picture place to relax, in the midst of nature. Our host Mr. Abu, who is also the owner of this property is such a humble, friendly and helpful man. The moment we stepped into the guest house we felt like a home, with the warm hospitality from Mr Abu and other staffs like Mohamed. He offered us a freshly made guava juice as the welcome drink, it was indeed very refreshing on a sunny day. He sent us a boat to the west bank from where Mohamed picked our luggage and we sailed to the island, all free of cost. Same during our check out as well. Mr Abu always made sure that right care is taken to his guests, he personally follows up for meal and any other local or outward tour arrangements, despite there were other guests present. We talked for quite a long on various subjects from the changing the landscape of this world, to our respective daily lifestyle in different parts of this planet. We never felt like we are in a hotel, its always been like yet another home. Mr Abu allowed guests to use the kitchen to make tea or any other dietary requirements. There was a common washing machine as well that we used to rejuvenate our laundries. Overall, this was a very calm and warm homely environment to spend when someone is in Aswan. The roof top dining area is infact the most happening place of the property. Roof cover with Henna tree shed gives you a perfect natural environment to experience the soothing breeze and mesmerizing landscape dominated by the beautiful river Nile. The meals available here are true Nubian delicacies, like the Tanjin(Tagine) dishes, which are made with homely care. Thanks to Mr Abu for making our trip a truly memorable one.

Everything is great, just a little bigger bathroom would have been convenient. But it was very well manageable.

Abu and his team were wonderful. They made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Our two days there were the most the best out of our nine days in egypt. The location is peaceful and you get a chance to traverse some of Elephantine village on the walk from the ferry. Food was also excellent.

We are just staying for the night and have an early flight to catch and Abu was very helpful to us since he even let us use his boat since the public boat is still closed at 3am. Thank you so much Abu we will definitely come back and have a longer stay for the Abu Simbel and taking in the nature of Aswan

We had a great stay at Abu's place. He and his sons are very welcoming and hospitable. We organised a great tour to Abu Simbel for a good price. Elephantine Island is beautiful and Abu can organise for his boat to take you out and about. Breakfast was great and the lovely ladies preparing food are kind. We also ate dinner a couple of nights a week here too and it was good. Definitely recommend as a good budget choice in Aswan!

All in one shower toilet takes a bit of getting used to, but roll with it!

We are infinitely grateful for the time we shared at Abu Guest House. Abu gave us such security, confidence, and peace of mind from the moment we arrived in Aswan. He and his family have a peaceful energy. I traveled with my young daughter, and they arranged our airport pickup on time at night, providing delicious home-cooked meals whenever we needed them. Car and boat transfers were always prompt and efficient. We are so grateful for all the support provided at Abu Guest House. We will definitely return.

We very liked Abu Guest House. Abu and the staff (Abu's family) is very friendly and always available and helpful (giving advices). We also recommend the excursions that they are proposing: visit of Botanic garden, tombs of nobles, Nubian village. The Elephantine island is a quiet place that we liked very much. Thanks to Abu for his hospitality. We felt like at home.

It’s easy to see why Abu Guesthouse has such high ratings—guests are kindly encouraged to leave a 10. While I truly appreciate the hospitality, I believe reviews should reflect honest experiences to help future travelers. The guesthouse itself is well-maintained, with clean, comfortable rooms and a welcoming staff. They go out of their way to assist, offering free sunset boat rides and always being available. However, there’s no real communal space to relax, and breakfast is quite basic compared to what you can find at nearby restaurants. Elephantine Island, while unique, is quite built-up and busy with day tourists. It was difficult to find peaceful spots to enjoy the surroundings, and unfortunately, there’s also a fair amount of plastic waste. As a solo traveler, I found the staff’s attentiveness a bit overwhelming. I was frequently asked about my plans and encouraged to take tours or have someone accompany me, even for simple trips into Aswan. Despite explaining my preference for independence, the suggestions continued, both in person and via WhatsApp. While I understand this was meant with the best intentions, it felt a bit limiting. This guesthouse is ideal for those who want everything arranged for them and enjoy a hands-on approach from the staff. But if you prefer more privacy and independence, or a quieter, more nature-focused stay, you might want to consider other options.

I can’t recommend ABU Guest House highly enough—if I could, I would give it a solid 11 out of 10! The experience was truly unparalleled, and much of that is thanks to the incredible host, Abu. He goes above and beyond in every possible way to ensure your stay is perfect, always looking for new ways to meet your needs and make your visit memorable. His hospitality is second to none—I've never encountered anything quite like it! Whether it's enjoying a delicious home-cooked meal (Abu is an outstanding chef), embarking on a sunset excursion, exploring the wonders of Aswan, taking a day trip to the Nubian City, or even just cruising around on a boat, Abu makes every moment special. One of the standout features of the guest house is the convenient transportation service—you’ll be picked up and dropped off at any destination you want, often at no additional cost! It’s this level of care and attention to detail that really sets ABU Guest House apart. I must also mention the wonderful team of staff members who make your stay even more enjoyable. Mohammed, in particular, is exceptionally helpful and always ready to assist with anything you might need. He’s a truly wonderful person and an asset to the guest house. The rest of Abu's team is equally attentive and kind, always going out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable. The breakfast, while simple, is delicious and the perfect way to start your day. I genuinely feel that staying at ABU Guest House is like staying with family—if you’re looking for an authentic, warm, and truly unforgettable experience, this is the place to be! I can't wait to return!

    Just excellent. Cannot be improved!
