How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThere is nothing that you can’t love about this place! It takes customer service to another level!
An elevator would be ideal if you’re staying on the 4th floor!

Verified reviewThis accommodation is run by the friendliest of staff. No request was too much and everything was clean and comfortable. There are many standout things to love about this place, but the warmth of host / manager, was simply out of this world!
The lack of an elevator. We had the top floor room which had stunning sunset views and views of Aga Khan Island, but an elevator would make this hotel complete!

Verified reviewGreat air conditioning and good views. Backy was a good host and organised excursions for us. There was travel arranged to and from the island via a private boat. Good water pressure.
The wifi was slow at times and the property could be improved with a coffee machine in the morning.

Verified reviewKing Mina Guest House is my new favorite place to be. I will definitely come back. I had tears on my eyes when we left the place by motorboat. The nature, the view from the terrace, the hosts, the inhabitants of the Elephantine isle… wow the time does not exist there. It is paradise, really. Beds very comfy. All super clean, the shower is very nice. Included in the service is pick up upon your arrival to the ferry near Feryal garden, and when leaving the place. Someone will come and help you out with the luggage. So nice! We stayed late April/beginning of May. It is very hot, so get ready: sun protection ; take a special pair of shoes as it is dusty everywhere in the island. But then, just relax, and enjoy this incredible site. The nature, the mango trees, the palms, the animals (friendly lizards and bats 🦇 ). The village. We also tried the restaurant recommended by Baky, King of Jamaica, was great. The team is very nice. They can help you booking activities or not, it is up to you. Thank you 🙏
Sometimes a bit noisy (there are works near the house and some music late at night in the village but maybe it was for a marriage). Take your ear plugs just in case, otherwise it definitely worth it!!!

Verified reviewBeautiful rooftop where to enjoy the river view, ok rooms, location close to the river where to take the boat. But the best thing was the people working there, who helped us with everything during our trip, from transportation to Aswan to laundry and day-trips to the Nubian Village, and made us love the island. There is a sense of community on the island and especially in the guest house that we will always remember.
The room doesn't have much space

Verified reviewOur stay at king Mena was perfect in all respects. This new and scrupulously clean property provides roomy bedrooms, excellent beds as well as an efficient AC system. We were well taken care of by Baky who regularly checked in with us for any needs. Breakfast on the roof was a moment to relax and enjoy the view. The breakfast staff were really kind and helpful as well. The recommended restaurant, at the nearby Basmatic, was excellent and we were soon greeted there as old friends.

Verified reviewWe had a very pleasant stay at King Mina Nubian House in Aswan. Our group of six booked two triple rooms, which were clean, had enough space, and comfortable beds. The bathrooms were also clean, with good hot water pressure. Baki, the host, was friendly and helpful. He recommended nearby places to eat, arranged a motorboat tour around Elephantine Island and to the Nubian village, and took care of all our other transfers. The staff helped carry our luggage to and from the boats, up the slope to the property, and up the stairs to our rooms. They also prepared a breakfast box for us when we had an early trip to Abu Simbel. One evening, we used the kitchen on the top floor to make a simple meal. There’s a covered seating area up there too, which was a nice place to relax. It was a peaceful, friendly place to stay—highly recommended.

Verified reviewIf you're coming to Aswan, especially after Cairo, you might be looking for something a little more laid back and quiet. If that's your case, definitely check out Elephantine island. You'll get to experience the Nubian side of Egypt, which is completely different culturally. On the island there are no cars, and King Mina is a the end of a road. There, you'll be taken care of by Baki and Mohamed (and all their friends and colleagues) who will make you feel right at home. The property is brand new, the pictures are accurate and everything is clean. Your hosts can also arrange some activities for you, just ask. We asked for a feluccas sunrise rise cruise and they delivered, same for arranging pickup at the ferry dock. They were spot on. If I came back to Aswan, I would definitely give them a call first to see if they're available. Don't be put off by the date of the listing, they actually just started and are completely legit!

Verified reviewThe property is in a very quiet place of the Elephantine island, which i recommend, because in the side of the port you can hear the noise from Aswan. The room lookes as in photos, clean, dormats very good, you can sleep well,A/C new .The highlight was mr Baky, who was very atentive,he came late at night at the small port and help us with luggage, transportation from the east bank is included at the hotel price.More over he made for us arrangements for Abu Simbel, and everything we needed, was very explicit to our questions and general a trustworthy man.I highly reccomend
I didnt like the breakfast which could be improved

Verified reviewThe airport pickup service took us to the Nile where we boarded a private boat to the hotel as it was on Elephantine Island. I was in communication with them via WhatsApp before we arrived and they answered all my questions. Mohamed and Baki carried our 4 suitcases from the boat a short walk to the hotel and after we went to our room greeted us on the rooftop patio with hibiscus drinks. They were very friendly. The island was an unexpected surprise and although the dirt walking paths seemed odd we realized that we were in a real Nubian village. They have their own language and the island has a maze of walking paths. We used google maps to find the Aswan Museum which was a very large archeological site with great views of the Aga Khan Tomb across the Nile. We passed old woman dressed in black knitting traditional hats and had small children follow us around. After the museum we stopped at a shop and were invited into a family sitting area as we drank 3 soft drinks we ordered. Mohammed the store owner was so friendly. If you want a real Nubian Experience that really adds to your trips enjoyment I recommend King Mena. We only stayed one night as we came a day early for our Aswan to Luxor cruise and their boat even took us right to our cruise ship and helped us find it among the 20 odd ships docked 4 deep on the shore of the Nile. I recommend King Mena for the experience. The room was a triple as needed 3 beds and the bathroom was large and the water hot and Mohammed the chef proudly made a great breakfast.
Probably improvements to the walkway from the shore to the hotel but it seems workers were doing that work. Maybe. map to the Aswan hotel for those not using google maps. A desk in the room with a chair would be helpful as well.
