Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe remoteness is a mixed blessing. On the one hand, the ferry is just a short walk away, and at 10 LE per ride is a great bargain in addition to offering chances to interact with local people and occasional other tourists. On the other hand, it starts running at 6:00am while most Abu Simbel tours leave from the city earlier than that. The guesthouse arranged a private boat for me (300LE), but this was a bit stressful. Similarly, taxis to and from the airport or train station are an added complexity (and reasonable expense) if you, like I, are not able to maneuver full luggage on and off the ferry. On the other hand, I did not find it terribly inconvenient to pop over to the other side to buy train tickets or make other purchases. The village does have a few little shops selling basics, but Ramadan has made it difficult to tell just how much would normally be available. Local villagers are generally quite welcoming and not manipulative, but of course there are bits of “I am doing this just for friendship but oh dear my feelings will be very hurt if you don’t tip me.”
This is an excellent choice for anyone who likes to stay apart from the hustle and bustle of the city itself. The village is calm and friendly, although of course rather dilapidated and trash-strewn outside the walls of the guest house (which is neat and well-maintained). Meals are served, including a boxed breakfast when I had to be gone very early for a tour, and transport arrangements are made on your behalf when requested. The family is calm, respectful, and attentive to any needs, and even the dogs are friendly despite their thick coats and lethargy in the heat.

EgyptMy sister and I stayed at this hostel in Aswan, bahar was friendly, Nubian aunt cooked local food was delicious, there was a music bar nearby, small shop, big dog jaxi and her son haha. Compared to Aswan across the street, it's quiet and comfortable, and the dining bar on the second floor looks out over the Nile.

United KingdomTranquil, beautiful, family run accommodation. Habibi and his nephews did everything to make the most relaxing, comfortable, wonderful stay. Authentic, fresh cooked, meals and daily cleaning service. Airport pick up was there waiting with sign to find easily, thank you Sammy! Habibi also organised a sun' set sail on the Nile and took me for a motor boat trip another day. Boat to East Bank 5-10 minute walk and only 10 EGP, runs regularly. Definitely picked the right side of the Nile to stay on, extremely relaxing, staying there was a great addition to my trip!

United KingdomTransport from the airport. If you don’t want to have to negotiate for ages and be driven all over, instead of directly to your hotel, better to arrange with the hotel for E£400 beforehand. If you download ’indrive’ app you can order the taxi for E£160-200 but you will need WiFi. You can buy a Sim from Vodafone in Aswan for 20GB data for E£485. They charge E£300 for dinner. It’s a nice meal but prepared in their own time, so you might be pretty hungry by the time it arrives. Hint - ensure what you communicate is understood. Dinners in restaurants outside can range from E£50-300 without alcohol.
Perfect place to stay in Aswan. Beautiful views across the Nile to Aswan. You can see the chaos but not be part of it. Although it’s a quick & cheap ferry ride (E£10) to get there. Everything is very clean and tidy. The room was lovely with a beautiful dome ceiling (room 7). Showers were good. They had aircon if needed. WiFi is a bit patchy but works. Breakfast is included and very filling. The Tomb of Mekhu and Sabni is just a 7mins walk. They charge tourists E£75 students, E£150 for Adults. From there you walk up to the Dome of Abu Al-Hawa, which has great views.

I was so happy with the idea to stay in that place on the west bank of Nile. It was perfect choise, accomodation is very authentic, owners are really nice, we had dinner from Nubian mom, which I can fully recomend. Accomodation is basic, but clean and suficient. When I was cold during the night hosts gave me another blanket. It's very easy to reach the east bank with local ferry. I can fully recommend.

BelgiumThe place in reality is much better than how it is presented in the pictures. There are also two sunbeds in the common area. There is also a tv, but without English channels. Rooms are quite (no noise from the street) and have been recently renovated. Of course you hear the boats in the Nile and the nearby mosque. Furniture is simple but nice. Normally it is difficult to find in Egypt such a charming place presented in a simple way. Taking the ferry to Aswan is very simple and super cheap. In the village when you walk everybody says hello and welcome. You feel super safe. In this Aswan is very different... It is also safe but turists are harrassed. Frankly we liked very much this place.

The family that manages the place is lovely. They're very helpful. Breakfast is included and dinner was a very reasonable 200 EGP (prices are subject to change so don't quote me!). You do have to let them know in advance if you want dinner. The rooftop is a nice place to hangout. The rooms are pretty much what you'd expect. The only thing to mention is that the showers are country-style. There's just a shower in the bathroom without any barriers. After you're done you have a squeegee to clean the water up. It's a little different if you're not used to it but it's very common in that neck of the woods. I chose this place because it was not in Aswan proper; it's in West Aswan (Gharb Aswan). It's not for people who expect luxury in a western-style environment. Go to Aswan proper and pay 10-times as much if that's what you want. This is a exquisitely beautiful place in a traditional (read dirt roads village) town. For touristy stuff you'll want to take the ferry. To get to Aswan proper you have to take a ferry, which is 5 minutes up the road from where you're staying. It costs 10EGP. Just hand them that. It didn't happen to me there, but it's happened to me in other places in Egypt where the ferry guy will not give you change or correct change. On my first night I got up before dawn and went to the top of the nearby (right next to the ferry) Tomb of the Nobles and Dome of Al Hawa. There is someone at the bottom, before you go up the stairs, that will ask you for 150EGP. That's the actual legit price. I told the guy I preferred to go alone and didn't want a guide or minder. I went up top and experienced a beautiful sunrise. Amongst my favorite memories. Enjoy!

The communal area such as lounge and dining area are very comfortable. The roof top dining area has great view of the Nile. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful especially Bahir. Breakfast and dinners were delicious. There is a nice garden outside. We were also allowed to use their large washing machine and helped us with our wash.

EgyptI really enjoyed the secluded location and the view of the tombs nearby, which are lit up beautifully at night. However, if you're looking for somewhere more in central Aswan and little more bustling, I would recommend going on the other side of the Nile. For me, this side was a quiet, peaceful retreat after a long day exploring :)
The place itself is gorgeous, very clean, and complete with scenic views of the Nile. I woke up to a breakfast on a shaded balcony beholding green Nile farmland and delicate feleucas cruising the waterways. Our room itself was spacious, decorated with a cedar wardrobe and chest, and possessed AC. The bathroom was huge and contained a bathtub with jets. Moreover, every person on staff was exceedingly friendly and polite, going above and beyond to make us feel at home. We found them to be trustworthy and genuinely kind. This is my husband's second time staying here, since he liked it so much; we hope to come again in the future!

This hotel was excellent. Habibi, Gigi, and Baher made sure we were comfortable during our stay. The food Gigi prepares is delicious! She was able to cook a vegan meal for us on short notice, and it was great! The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are large and comfortable for you, and you need to get on a faluka boat to reach it. Although it sounds like a hassle, it is only a 10-minute ride at maximum. I recommend this hotel.
