Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalEven tho I only spent 1 night here, they made sure that I had the best time possible and really, really helped me a lot! :) For a start, 1 day before they communicated through WhatsApp for a more direct contact, I had a late flight and it was important to know and what exact time I would arrive so they would have someone waiting for me to take the quick ferry trip to Elephant Insland where the Guest House is located, my flight ended up having a 4h delay, but they stayed always available awaiting for an update from me. Once I arrived, the young Youssef was waiting for me at the pier, from there we took the ferry and he drove what was a quick trip to the Guest House through the Nile River, a very nice ride actually since it was night time and we could see all the lights on from Aswan. Once we arrived at the guest house I was even greeted with a welcome drink (juice), and checked-in in a very spacious, clean and nice room. :) I had also booked the Abu Simbel tour with them, so I was instructed to be at the lobby by 3.45am so the staff could take me back by ferry to the pier, where a van would be waiting at 4am to start the tour, and everything went perfectly smooth and on time, they even had a breakfast box waiting for me before we departed. The tour is a 3h ride to Abu Simbel, then we spent 2h exploring the temples, coming back to the guest house afterwards. Since I was staying only 1 night and was later catching a bus to Luxor, they let me keep my bag in the Guest House during the tour, and when we came back they even arranged for the bag to be delivered to me at the pier by their staff once I arrived back, so I would not have to cross the river on purpose again! Their service and kindness was really amazing and made my trip very comfortable and stress free. :)

EgyptOur stay at the hotel on Elephantine Island in Aswan was absolutely wonderful! The staff was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed delicious meals throughout our stay and felt completely safe at all times. One of the highlights was the unique experience of reaching the hotel by boat, crossing the Nile – such a special touch that added to the charm of our trip. A big thank you to the entire team for their hospitality and for making our stay so memorable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Aswan!

Very friendly and hospitable staff! Made it feel like home very quickly. The breakfast was big, enough to keep me full for the day. They even gave me a packed lunch when I went on my morning tour. WiFi was really strong and available everywhere. Room was really clean and had everything I needed, like shampoo soap, hairdryer, towels, water, kettle, coffee etc.

EgyptVery friendly and helpful staff. Rich Nubian breakfast. The evening meal was also very tasty. Various dishes to choose from on the menu. The guesthouse has only been there for a few months and offers a free check-in and check-out shuttle by boat to the mainland. There is a beautiful roof terrace with a view of the Nile. The rooms have a hairdryer, kettle, tea, coffee, air conditioning and fan as well as a refrigerator. Tours can also be booked. It invites you to relax - wonderfully quiet!!! The ferry dock is a 5-minute walk away. There are a few restaurants on the island. The Nubian village is 15 minutes away by boat. If you arrive by train, it is about an 8-minute walk to the Docs.

GermanyThe surroundings are very rural and might be a bit difficult to manage for elderly. Still, that may be expected given the authentic location in the village.
The staff was very friendly, warm, and accommodating. The place was very clean and the finishing of the place is excellent. The breakfast was good and very filling. The molasses with feteer was tasty. You are situated right in the village on Elephantine island.

New ZealandI haven't been able to find any fault.
Words cannot express how much I enjoyed my stay at Samara guest house! Elephantine Island has been the best place to stay in the whole of Egypt. Samara guest house is newly built and squeaky clean. I was fetched by private boat from the train. My suitcase was carried for me to where the guest house is situated between small working plots, with only the sound of sheep, goats and the occasional cat. There are beautiful views from the rooftop terrace. Breakfast is delicious and huge. They have a menu with more huge, absolutely delicious meals. It's a 3 minute walk across to the public ferry which costs only 10 EGP. The staff are totally amazing and as a woman travelling on my own I was treated like a fragile ball of cotton. I booked 4 nights and stayed 6 and have since become part of the family.

PortugalNothing to mention.
It was a great experience, they took me from Aswan City to the guesthouse by their private boat, and the breakfast was something great to start your day with, besides Mr. Gasser helped me to know more about the Elephantine Island where the guesthouse is located, and he provides some city tours if you want like I went to Abu Simbel temple.
