How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe Location was amazing, we could see the Pyramids very clearly from our balcony, it was a joy sitting and just staring at them. Kareama was an amazing cleaner, the rooms were spotless and she was always available on the third floor to help with anything. As other guests have said the breakfast was great loads of choice, everything was fresh, the Hotel clearly take pride in this. The pool area was also spotless and the swim up bar staff were so smiley. We had such a great time, spent 4 nights in Cairo and the location meant it was easy for us to go to Giza and the New Museum. we booked hotel drivers 4 times and they were prompt and very friendly. we took a hotel driver to the Bazaar who stuck to us like glue, my daughters are early 20's, we really appreciated his help as he had to intervene and tell someone off more than once. and we would have got very lost without him. he went above and beyond. We were also given a late check-out without any problem. I highly recommend.
The gym was being renovated, so not available. but honestly the hotel was great so it's not much of a niggle, we were out nearly all day in any case.

Verified reviewThe hotel is very close to the pyramids and the grand museum however all locations are only accessible by car/ taxi.
The reception lady at check in (26/08/25) was far from being polite. I have planned our entire trip, organised it and paid for it, yet it was my husband who was spoken to at all times. I used my own name for reservation but I was referred to as Mrs. Husband’s name. The place was dirty. Our rooms (we had two interconnected rooms), had so much dust on the carpet around bed area! The taxi service recommended by the receptionist was excessively priced and we were being set up to fall for all tourist traps during our day trip. We paid for taxi for the day upfront and the price kept changing through the day. The food at pool bar was very basic and poor quality.

Verified reviewUnfortunately, the checkout experience completely overshadows the positive impression. At this price point, I also expect good service upon departure. I'm not used to that from the Steigenberger.
Checking the minibar at checkout slows things down: No trust in the guest's honesty. Room service bill from another room is added to my bill. I'm held up for 20 minutes looking for a bill that can't exist. Here, too, my statements are ignored. The staff ruin the entire impression of a very expensive stay for a $10 bill. I repeatedly make it clear that this can only be a mistake. Afterward, I'm asked to provide a written statement before I'm finally allowed to leave. Again, it's $10, and I'm treated like a thief. Unfortunately, very unprofessional. I would recommend you reconsider this approach in the future! You should read the Steigenberger philosophy!

Verified review1/10 – Worst hotel experience ever The room was awful — constant water leaking from the AC soaking the carpet, which smelled of mold, with a strong damp odor throughout. Staff refused to change our room, sent an “engineer” with dirty shoes who made it worse, and overall were unhelpful and only seemed interested in tips. The location is misleading — you can see the famous museum, but there’s zero pedestrian access. Our safe died with our passports inside; it took hours to fix because they replaced only one battery, so the same problem happened again. Restaurant service was incredibly slow (1–2 hours for a simple pizza or even an apple) and overpriced. Chaotic, unhygienic, and completely unacceptable. Avoid at all costs.

Verified reviewThe restaurants and bars offered a delightful atmosphere with beautifully curated interior design that added to the overall charm of the stay. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive, with special thanks to our housekeeper Karima who kept our room clean and comfortable, as well as the dedicated teams at the bars and restaurants who made us feel truly cared for. The hotel’s taxi services were efficient and reliable—Hossam, in particular, was incredibly helpful. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and offered a breathtaking view of the pyramids. The swimming pool was a pleasant and relaxing escape. If we’re ever going back to Cairo, we will happily stay there again.
An umbrella on the 3rd-floor balcony would be a great addition, as there was very little shade during the day. Cushions on the balcony furniture would also make the seating much more comfortable and inviting.
