Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainThe Mango Guest House and Elephantine Island were a really remarkable experience during our trip to Egypt. The hosts were incredibly hospitable, and we felt very comfortable in the house. It was incredibly clean and very charming, with a nice rooftop and a lovely garden. The people from the island were very nice and welcoming to us, giving our visit a charming and pleasant vibe as we walked around the streets. The hosts cooked a very nice breakfast for us. I truly recommend this authentic experience.

United StatesNot that I didn't like. However, Room 1 where I stayed is on the ground floor by reception and the kitchen. For light sleepers this may be a problem, I was ok with it.
What a gem of a hotel. I was looking for a location away from the city and something unique and The Mango Guest House delivered. Great location a short ferry ride from the corniche. Excellent restaurant options on the island and a breakfast box for my journey to Abu Simbel. Google maps shows the ferry farther down the corniche when in reality it is at KFC and connects to the dock by King Jamaica so the walk is 5 minutes and more direct than shown plus the hotel has signs pointing the way. If you have luggage the staff will meet you at the dock and assist. Lovely garden and kitchen amenities such as tea, coffee and hibiscus as well as a fridge with sodas and juice for a nominal fee.

IndiaEverything was good
They provide transportation from the flight to the hotel, and help you with carrying the bags from the ferry. The room is clean, one of a kind compared to the other hotels on the island. We felt very safe and connected with the locals, as you can see the Nubians doing their daily chores in a short walk around the area. There are good restaurants within a 5 minute walk.

CanadaThe mango guest house is really a little oasis on Elephantine Island. Mohammed was amazing to us and he allowed us to meet Ahmed who took us on his feluka. That was the highlight of this travel to Egypt. The hotel itself is calm, super clean, with a comfortable room. You have to take a boat to join the hotel but it passes often and only costs 10EGP per person.

AustraliaWe really loved our stay at Mango. Aswan was the last stop in our trip in Egypt and was the perfect calm ending we needed after Cairo and Luxor. All the staff at Mango were exceptionally kind and helpful to us, and made us a delicious breakfast each morning (extra $$ but worth it). Our room was comfortable and clean. The location on Elephantine Island was perfect. And the aircon worked well!!!! We would love to return to Mango when we visit Egypt again one day.

SpainI don't know if they were just careless or like all the people involved in tourism in Egypt, they were trying to charge us again for things we had already paid for.
The hotel was beautiful, with great facilities and a lovely room located on a peaceful island. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. We also arranged with them visits to Philae Temple, Abu Simbel, and our airport transfer. Everything went smoothly and according to plan. We felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

United StatesExcept for breakfast there is no food or snacks and the rooftop is begging for some alcoholic drinks. Pillows could stand improvement as they are rock hard but these are minor observations. Also it must be noted that streets, safe and accessible, are strewn with litter. Apparently garbage pickup is not a thing which distracts from the charm.
Well run Guesthouse with excellent accommodations at a reasonable price. Lovely garden and good breakfast. Being on the island can prove cumbersome although the 10 EP ferry is easy enough. Overall a charming place.

United StatesUnderstand that you are staying among the locals, so there is only a dirt road leading to the guest house. Staff will meet at the dock to help guide to the house. Don't worry about having to take a ferry to the island. It runs frequently and is cheap (10 EGP). Make sure to catch the one at the dock near the "KFC" Restaurant.
We enjoyed our stay at the Mango Guest House. Our room is comfortable and modern. Staff communication is excellent, from Ihab prior to arrival in planing our itinerary to the attentive service provided by Ali and Mohamed on the ground in making our rides and tour arrangements. Kudos to the team for making our visit to Aswan a pleasant one!

MexicoThere was a dog barking on the street early one day, and you could hear it from the room. However, this is something you could've heard anywhere you were in the island.
It is a nice property located in the center of the island, to get there with your luggage it is a bit tricky, but the hotel staff helped us. The rooms are spacious and breakfast is good and variated.
