How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location, good value for money, friendly staff
Wi-fi was not great. The shower room was impractical, as there was no separation between the toilet and shower.

Verified reviewAll the buildings from Alexandria are falling appart except the fancy 4-5 stars hotels. It's a very ghetto city, super dirty. Go to Aswan, Luxor and Giza. Unless you are a egyptology fanatic do NOT waste your time in Alexandria. The hotel was less then 2 minutes walk from the beach, that on a turistic city had NO traffic lights. It's so bad that Google maps function within society normal rules and when u try to navigate walking around the town everything takes over one hour walk because the city only has 2 officials cross walk. One at the beggining and one at the end. You literally MUST j walk among egyptian crazy drivers, they stop for no-one. The most valuable of this hotel: location. Forget about the others, the location of this hotel is perfect for the price.
The hotel was very old, the matress were old like the building: brown. But I guess it's suits the egyptian hotel reality.

Verified reviewThe location of Triomphe Hostel is absolutely unbeatable – right in the heart of the old town, within walking distance to key landmarks like: • Qaitbay Citadel • The old souks • Daniel Street • Bibliotheca Alexandrina If you’re looking for an authentic feel of Alexandria’s historic side, this is the right spot. The building itself is very old – I’m not sure from which year, but it definitely has character. Riding the old elevator is an experience in itself; you probably won’t see one like it anywhere else still in operation! The hostel offers both shared rooms (up to 3 people) with shared bathrooms, or you can opt for a private room with a private bathroom, which gives more comfort and privacy. What I appreciated most was the ambience – there’s something nostalgic and enduring about the place. It feels like a piece of Alexandria’s old soul that’s still standing, and I truly hope it continues for years to come.
In terms of cleanliness, I wouldn’t rate it a full 5/5. For me personally, it’s fine for a one-night stay, but I wouldn’t stay longer. That said, it’s still reasonably maintained, and you can feel the charm and history in the atmosphere.

Verified reviewThe location is excellent, very central and convenient.
The sheets and pillows were not clean, and the overall condition of the hotel is very outdated. There are very few amenities, and the place could really use some renovation and better maintenance. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again.

Verified reviewI found this accommodation option by accident, but it ended up being the best thing that happened to me in Alexandria. The location is pretty central, and you can easily reach all the most important sights, including the corniche, by foot. What is even more fascinating, the hotel is located in a vintage building dated back to the colonial times. This way, living here is like going back in time and experiencing how people of the previous centuries lived. Moreover, my room had a wonderful view of the city, and I enjoyed spending every night on the balcony and admiring the nightlife of Alexandria. The staff is also amazing, all of them are helpful, responsive and attentive to all your needs. They helped me on many different occasions. At the same time, this accommodation is so cheap while still being great and pretty well maintained. I just wish I spent more days here... I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for affordable hotels in Alexandria.

Verified reviewPrice/performence hotel. Great location.
No hot water at night. Moreover, no water at all. No toilet paper. Bad internet connection. Windows are really old that you hear and feel all the traffic noise of the street directly.

Verified reviewStaff was really sweet and supportive!
I was in a single room for a few nights…it literally felt like I was in a hospital. I do not recommend the single rooms at all, however, I moved to a double and it was better in terms of space and it has a mini-fridge and a balcony which was okay if you’re staying for a few nights. It costed me extra, but I would say it was honestly not worth it at all. The bathrooms are shared, so if you wanted privacy, this was not on the list. Another thing I didn’t like is that they made you leave your room key with them until you come back…I still don’t understand the reasoning behind that, but I still asked them politely to take it with me every time since I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the key with them, although they still have a spare for emergency.
