How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

1. Power Outage: The electricity was cut off for the entire two days of my stay, with no prior notice or communication from the hotel. 2. Untrained Staff: Nearly all of the staff seemed unqualified and lacked proper training in dealing with guests. 3. Unreasonable Water Policy: I was surprised to learn that requesting an extra bottle of water required purchasing it from the restaurant — something I have never encountered at any hotel anywhere in the world. 4. Poor Beach Conditions: The beach was dirty, filled with stones and rubble, making it completely unsuitable for swimming. 5. Misleading Star Rating: This hotel is far from being a five-star property. At best, it could be rated no higher than two stars. 6. Limited Capacity & Delays: With no more than 35 rooms in total and occupancy at less than 10% during my visit, it was unacceptable that it still took one and a half hours to prepare my room. 7. Lack of Cooperation: Despite my request for a baby bed on the first day and repeated assurances, it was not provided until the end of the second day. 8. Substandard Breakfast: The breakfast offered was below average, with no distinguishing features expected of a quality hotel. Even the juice served was artificial and of very poor quality.

Verified reviewNothing literally! You sold us the XU Hotel as a 5 stars hotel, but it was a 3 stars hotel! It has nothing to do with 5 stars hotels and even the hotel employees confessed that it was not a 5 stars hotel. We booked a 3 days getaway hotel and we got 3 days of hell. Hotel's pictures on your app have nothing to do with reality. We wanted to run away since the first 5 minutes but unfortunately, we paid in advance the whole stay. We paid for a 5 stars hotel and since it was not then you are requested to refund us.
The beach was soooooooo tiny, sooooooooo dirty, full of rocks and it was impossible to swim even for 5 minutes. There was only 1 restaurant, very small with no variety at all. XU Hotel is actually a kind of a small motel with a small dirty beach working mainly on Day Use. From 10 am to 7 pm, it was the daily crazy time! Suddenly Day Users pour in, and you better go back to your room as there is no free 10 cm in the swimming pool and if you try to swim, you will be touching other guests and Day Users the whole time. The hotel does not refuse any day User. Even though the swimming pool and the beach are crowded like hell, they keep accepting Day Users. There was no "Depth mark" around the swimming pool and when we asked, few said 160 cm, others said 165 cm and the remaining said they don't know. The kids swimming pool floor is slippery that there is a kid falling inside the pool every single minute! Felt sorry for the Lifeguard. Bed lamp was broken since check-in, complained about it on the spot but it was not fixed till check-out. No soundproof AT ALL, our last night was horrible. Our neighbor, an hour after they checked-in, started making inappropriate voices, sighs, groans...etc I was patient till 2 am then called the reception to call my neighbor to be more discreet and respectful since i had my boy with me. No action was taken from the receptionist till 3 am and i had to call him back and threaten him that I'm going to call the police and make a scandal if they are not going to be respectful. And let's not forget that the hotel still under construction as per attached pictures and it was not mentioned on Booking.com

Poor customer service at reception and restaurant. When I arrived at hotel while waiting at reception for my room I asked for water, they charged me for bottle of water. When I went for breakfast at restaurant, there were more hotel employees, servants, managers and waiters just standing around tables, you feels like they just watching customers , they weren’t friendly at all, they didn’t offer any service while setting at the table,, you have to ask someone to clean table or to bring silverware. On my second day at hotel I got food poisoning with salmonella after eating cheese omelet for breakfast. I was very sick with fever, chills, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea for the whole day. House keeping is terrible when I asked for water, I was told they ran out of bottled water many times. You only allowed one packet of Nescafé per day. Swimming pool is too small and closes at 6:30 pm while it is still daylight. Parking is extra and it is outside hotel

Electricty cut offs were something I see first time in my life in a hotel! The sound insulation between rooms was so bad, you would feel as if the neighboring room are sitting with you in your room. Paid parking location was very bad, uncovered and directly in front of the sea.
