Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe walk up the hill was a bit of a hassle, rendering trips down to non touristy bars and shops in Sarria a bit strenuous. However, on the other hand, the touristy hill is probably the best part of Sarria. The food on the touristy hill might not be as good and cheap as in Sarria itself, but it's the most attractive and social part of Sarria. Sarria itself, isn't a very attractive town. Better to just stay on the hill, if you can.
Fascinating building. Historic and atmospheric.

United KingdomWas noisy before 7am with people leaving. Doesn't feel like a monastery.
It's virtually on the Camino path, 1 minute walk and you are heading down the hill to start walking from Sarria. Room was adequate, in no way luxury. Lots of toilets and showers

United StatesCheck in took an hour because the one and only person working had to check us in in addition to selling pilgrim passports to first time pilgrims. There were only three couples in line in front of me. It was not the fault of the employee but was a result of an inefficient process. Also the property was a 10 minute walk up a desolate road from the town’s restaurants.
Great water pressure and temperature in the shower. There was a coffee machine in the kitchen that saved time in the morning. Pretty standard albergue.

AustraliaLaundry facilities could have been better maintained and available.
The location on the top of the hill gave plenty of opportunity to walk down into town go to the local farmers market, visit the local art center and many cafes. # nights well spent before continuing my walk. Whilst in a dorm, the bed was located in a quiet area.

New ZealandI found it disappointing that in the middle of the night we had an influx of about 40 people arrive, I had been given a bed right at the door and each time someone went in or out of the door I had this bright light shinning in my face. It was most disruptive. In the morning when i wend downstairs someone had borrowed by walking sticks, which meant I had to walk to Hilmorton without the aid of my sticks. regrettably i twisted an ankle, which plagued me for the rest of my Camino. My suggestion for the future is to tell Pilgrims to place their sticks under their bed for safekeeping. I was not the only pilgrim who lost their sticks, there was an elderly gentleman also looking for his sticks. PS I too am elderly as I am 74 years old. The beds creaked and groaned everytime the person above me rolled over, he too was awake most of the night with people coming and going out of the door so we all left fairly early as we were awake anyway.
I loved the big kitchen it had everything you needed to prepare a meal for a lot of people. The staff were good and the fact that the monastory was near the end of town was great as we just walked out on got on to the track failrly easily.
