Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdombunk right by the loos/showers. Why is it people cannot shut a door to the washrooms before using the loo, especially at night?!! It's a constant problem in shared accommodation, mostly men! They must think they're at home
Friendly and welcoming guy at check-in. Large sleeping area, so not cramped. Supplied with clean sheet and pillow case. A bit far out although right on Camino.

United KingdomLocation is a 30 minute walk from the centre. Around half of the people seemed to be staying there for a good while, which if you are a tourist or walking the camino alters the vibe of the hostel.
Probably the cheapest hostel in León but that is reflected in the location which is way from the centre of the city. Good sized lockers. Clean facilities.

United StatesStaff are pretty hands off. Showers and bathrooms not kept very well. Noisy at night until rather late.
The set up is dormitory style, but not run like an Albergue. It’s function seem to be more like just a flop house to stay at as you’re moving through town. Mostly young transient crowd come in at all hours.

New ZealandI was disappointed with the accommodation. There was no specific time for turning the lights on or off, which made it inconvenient. Also, during dinner time, a lot of food smells came into the room, and I didn’t like that. People were so noisy.
Staff was kind, good value for money.

LebanonAlthough the hostel is one big big room, so you share with everyone the same sleeping space but it is well planned, clean and comfortable, and the bathrooms and showers were always clean too. However, I made a mistake by not thoroughly checking the location—it’s a bit far from the city center, which can be inconvenient if you enjoy being in the heart of the action. That said, the owner is very accommodating and goes out of his way to help with any changes.

United StatesLocation -- 20 minute walk to downtown Could have used a couple more bathrooms. I didn't mind this, but be aware that it is one big room. Several longish-term residents, which changes the vibe.
The owner is very kind. Good kitchen! Clean bathrooms. Sink to do laundry and clotheslines available. Washer and dryer available for a fee. Sheets provided. Amazing value for what you pay!

SpainThere was smoke coming in from outside as a guy smoked right outside the door. If smoking was requested to be further from the door it would be great. Also, some of the bathrooms got a bit bad with some folks not cleaning up after themselves.
Great beds and kitchen facilities. Lovely space with bed specific curtains and charging stations near beds. The owner was super friendly and accommodating, and it was EXCEPTIoNAL value for money.

AustraliaWell thought out design, new, and clean. I've stayed in quite a few hostels on the Camino. The dormitory bathroom showers are spacious with room to leave your gear secure and dry. Doors soft close, so disturbances are minimised. Clothes were washed and dried for 6 euros. There was a space for bikes too. Supermarkets not too far away. Cupboard provided with key to secure belongings. Use one euro like a shopping trolley to get the key... You get your euro back each time you unlock.

United KingdomIt was on the outskirts of the central area, which was approximately 1km from the cathedral. The hosts always seemed too busy when approached for advice or directions. I got the feeling they were too caught up in running the place, that patrons / customers were treated as if they were an inconvenience. That attitude would need to improve immediately, before a higher rating could be attained.
It was clean, modern and secure. It allowed late access with a digital code input at the door.

FranceSuper easy to communicate with the staff and access late at night. REALLY comfy beds - the best I've found on my 2 month Camino so far. Everything seemed pretty clean from what I could see - especially the beds, which matter the most to me. Fresh sheets were provided which I could put on. Also bonus - late check out at 10am, compared to the other albergues I've been staying in, which ask you to leave by 8am.
