Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe owner knocked at my door at 12 am waking me up just to ask me if I was alone and not to allow anyone in the room
The location next to Gibraltar was great and also a nice view of the rock and airport

United Kingdomthe property was in a state of repair/re-decoration so was a bit dishevelled. Although we were warned in advance of the presence of pets, there was an overwhelming smell of cat throughout the property which was unpleasant.
proximity to Gibraltar border was excellent, as advertised. Check-in was fairly straight-forward though it did rely on someone answering WhatsApp messages on arrival. Thankfully they responded immediately so no issues whatsoever.

IrelandIt was only mentioned after booking and paying that no bicycles were allowed in the building and that there were no garage facilities/private area to lock it available. This should have been mentioned in the prebooking information as I would not have booked had I known. The agent was not very open about this, not good
Family living there seemed very nice, great location

IrelandRoom was clean-ish but didn't feel very clean, like the rest of the place. Shared bathroom felt humid. The corridor to the room looked like going through some renovations except that no works were carried on, just piles of things sitting there all over the place. Two WiFi to choose from, none of them work. A rather cold and reserved welcome by a young lady who showed me to the room and that was it (perhaps she was just shy, though).
Fantastic view from the window facing Gibraltar. Extremely close to the border. Room was small but had shelving units and a desk, which was very handy. Very well explained directions in the message (if not the video attached in the message it would be difficult to find it). Good price, adequate to its value, though.

United States1. Excellent location, close to bus station and borders ....about 5 minutes walk. 2. The instructions were sent by the owner are great helpful. 3. For 1-2 nights short stay is ok, allow to use bathroom and own room only. 4. Facility is clean and quiet at night. Owners' cats and dog are around but quiet. I just closed the room door all the time. 5. Constantly hot water.

United KingdomNo issues, other than some ventilation of the room before arrival would have been nice - was very warm because curtains hadn't been drawn across.. Basic accommodation at good price!
Great location for those, like me, who want to be close to Gibralter whilst staying on the 'Spanish side' of the border. Close to the bus station for onward journey. Great view of the Rock from 6th floor window!

United Kingdom- The bed, was quite springy. My back was pretty achy after three nights. - There were about 14 plug sockets, looked to be spurs from either one or two plugs. My immediate thought when walking in the room was fire safety. The plug sockets were also quite loose. - i’m not really sure why the blinds were in such a bad condition, and had not been replaced. I assume it’s the cat. - No ambient light, like a bedside lamp that’s warm white. Dimmable switch. - The door to block 10 is really tricky with the key, I practised a little bit to get the knack of it. - The floor to the shower can get wet, it made the floor very very slippery. So be cautious around the shed bathroom.
- The location was very convenient, it was also very good to see the view of Gibraltar. - I liked the TV had a fire stick. - The communication on WhatsApp (only) was excellent. - Lovely dog. He sat by the door a few times. - relatively clean, including the shared bathroom - The reviews are relatively accurate. From what I’ve experienced. - thanks for the towels

United KingdomThe excellent and warm communication with the guy through WhatsApp was completely the opposite welcome that I received when I arrived at the flat with his instructions. The woman who opened the door was extremely cold, didn't even smile and say hello or bye, just gave me an evil look and said this way and pointed to the bathroom and said nothing else. I speak Spanish but even speaking with her in Spanish I felt unwelcome and uneasy. Also the situation is rather strange, as you're effectively staying in a room upstairs in someone's flat. It would be less strange if the people living in the flat would be abit more welcoming and accommodating to strangers like me entering for a couple of nights. The neighbour was super loud slamming the bedroom door next to my room as the walls are paper thin but that's not the biggest issue although I felt abit uneasy at times and wasn't able to relax during the night when I should have been. The tenants in the flat would allow their small dog and cat to roam freely around upstairs right by the room...it's alright for me who loves pets and is not allergic or has any phobia or anything but not ideal for someone who might be! With that in mind the bed sheets also contained cat and dog hair on them so didn't look clean at all, the overall room itself was adequate.
Great view of Gibraltar rock from the room, good communication with the guy through whatsapp in locating the property. The room was tiny but for a cheap bedsit style place to rest your head it was fine. Adequate shelf storage in the room.

NorwayThe key wouldn’t open the main door downstairs so I had to ring the bell several times to get one of the guys living there to open. And, there was a cat. I don’t mind animals, but I am highly allergic to cats and the cat was everywhere. There was no note about the cat.
