Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe rooms were very basic. There was a strong smell of blocked drains that did not go away. The breakfast was basic and could have been better. No water in room

United KingdomThe dinner in turf restaurant had some issues very rushed. Main meal was brought as we finished our starters with no starter plates removed. A couple of meals just weren’t very good but they replaced with a different meal when we complained. Lovely place though.
The position. Stunning views

IrelandSuper helpful and knowledgeable reception staff. A special mention to the receptionist (her name Tina? Perhaps?) Lots of excellent advice re our hike on El Caminito del Rey and she checked after we returned to find out how things went for us. La vida es una aventura. We took the train into Malaga for the afternoon.....the station is directly opposite the hotel.

AustraliaWe liked our stay and would stay again if we were doing the CDR trail again (other than the hotel is very pricey, but that is because of its location in relation to being so well positioned if you are doing the CDR trail. It is the only main accoms option in this area really. There is not much around the hotel, other than rail line, shuttle stop and the rail cafe. You need to walk downhill to get to the 'town' (inverted commas as it is really more of some things that open and close to coincide with open days of the trail. If you have mobility issues and want to stay here, ask them for a room without the narrow spiral staircase but if you have no issues then it is a cute and fun room style to be in! If you arrive on a Monday to do the walk on a Tuesday it would be a good idea to bring some snacks and water, etc, with you as there is not much to buy anywhere in the vicinity.
Stayed here late May l1 night in room 204. It was a 2 storey room with ground floor being the the tea/coffee making area, a couch with small chair, a flat screen TV and a coffee table with a chair.. A very small space with a mini fridge, a kettle and a small pod coffee maker, 2 cups, 2 spoons provided. No water or sink so have to go up the spiral stair case each time to get water or wash cups out, etc. Air con and heating were available in the bedroom which and worked great. Upstairs has a small bedroom with opening windows where you can see the view from the bed. View is over the dam and hydro station (and also our room looked down over the lovely onsite pool too). Attached is a lovely ensuite with a shower over a bath and a sink. You have to climb up 2 steps to get into/out of the bath. If you have no mobility issues this is easy but beware slipping as tiles (like all tiles) do get slippery when wet. Whilst we loved our room,(#204), and we have not mobility issues, we do feel it worth mentioning for others that may have problems with stairs or narrow spaces that the spiral staircase is extremely steep and narrow. We actually left our bags downstairs in the sitting area. The hotel has a lovely pool and lovely reception staff when we were there. They can store luggage in a luggage room before and after checkout whilst doing the Caminito Del Ray walk. They have a good offsite parking area that also has a few undercover spots as well. They let us store our motorbike & bags until after check out after we returned from Caminito Del Ray walk in the afternoon which was extremely appreciated. There is a covered, outdoor cafe area with a lovely view as well as an indoor restaurant. Food was good. There is also the 'railway cafe' just 50m or so from the hotel where the train platform is. The pick up and drop off of the CDR shuttle bus is literally outside/across the road from the hotel's entrance.

Hotel itself is a very authentic old building, very nice. Rooms are great, pool is very very nice! Dinner on the terras was good, again with the amazing views. Amazing hotel and restaurant in an amazing location. A 50 minute train ride from Málaga, virtually to the front door. Greeted with a warm welcome at reception, and throughout our stay. The food was amazing, we only sampled the breakfast and dinner menus, which had great choices.

United KingdomThe tiny spiral staircase in the room was not easy to navigate, and the breakfast had limited options. No breakfast tea, which would have been nice.
The hotel was superb. The view was spectacular from the restaurant balcony. The rooms were rustic but facilities were modern. The onsite restaurant food was excellent. The swimming pool is beautiful and the water blissfully cool with ample sun beds. The shower in the bathroom was just the best. Air- conditioning was great, and the room has plenty of storage. If you are going to caminito del ray this is the perfect hotel as its located at the end of the trail.

AustraliaVery friendly staff, very helpful and spoke English too. Tight and steep stairway in the room but manageable if you take care. Also difficult access to the shower but I guess if you are worried you could get a ground floor room. Food in the restaurant was good, nice choice of places to sit. Some noise from the room next door, but not loud enough to keep me awake. Good for a short stay before the Caminito del Rey.
