How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Breakfast was too simple for the price they charge. Lunch quality not good. Noise protection in a room quite poor. Price of accomodation simply too high.

One of the beds was really hard. You can hear people from the room next to us.
It is close to the beach. Has a balcony. Has a restaurant. Staff were friendly.

We had the set menu in the evening and ordered turbot. It was not very pleasant at all as it had a lot of 'jelly' in it.
Great location for the Camino del Norte. We had a big balcony with a lovely view of the sea and the neighbourhood Quiet time of year, so the bar man in the afternoon spent a lot of time watching movies in between serving us. Lovely reception staff and very helpful. Bed was comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. Breakfast had a good variety to choose from.

Ground floor with the cafeteria and restaurant a bit old style and would need some refreshing renovation
Room with balcony and West oriented so we had beautiful sun and light into the room for the evening Bed sheets were so soft, clean and warm

Checking-in was great, bar tender was a little off. Room was spacious, nice view. Breakfast was ok, maybe in-season they have more fresh baked items. Coffee machine made nice espresso drinks.

Noise from other guests and the dog across the street constantly barking (not the hotel’s fault). Wifi didn’t work. 8:30pm restaurant times. I went elsewhere.
Reception lady was polite and lovely.

The window of the balcony doesn't lock and as we were on the first floor it made us feel unsafe. I would prefer a locking balcony door and an additional lock to the door to the room (it's only got one key which I assume they have more than one copy of, no chain or anything on the inside).
Lovely staff, old school kind of vibe, big windows, nice & hot shower. Didn't try the bar or restaurant but looked lively.

Quite a distance from the town centre and definitely overpriced compared to other properties.
Nice balcony with large sliding glass doors. Comfortable beds, quiet . Lift. The town had a medieval festival (Carlos V) at the time which was partially spoiled by heavy rain.

Hotel Cosmopol provided a really good 1st stop on our trip through the region. It is easy to reach from Santander with convenient on street parking. Check in was pleasant, and straightforward and we were very pleased with our room on 2nd floor which had a balcony and panoramic view of the bay and coastline. We enjoyed a couple of drinks at the bar before having the set menu dinner in the restaurant. We were very impressed with the choice and quality of the set menu at 28 Euros each for 3 courses and a bottle (not 2 glasses as I had expected !) of a really nice rioja wine. Very good breakfast choice including fresh fruit, cold meats, cheese, croissants etc. After exploring the old town the following morning, we went back to the Cosmopol bar for "Bocadillos" and soft drinks....again very good value in our opinion. We would stay here again if we are back in the area. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately the walls are very thin. Our neighbors watched tv to midnight and I felt like I was watching tv with them The hotel is a little tired
What a view!! Best view in town. Restaurant was also quite good and very affordable

Good option if you are doing the Canino Del Norte. Close to the old town to do some sight seeing. Food was good and large portions.

Fabulous spot, lovely views, nice staff, a bit old fashioned but for the price that didnt matter and the shower was hot, the bed was comfy and it was all very clean and parking easy right outside. Breakfast not great, especially if you are British, but overall it was great value for money.

F&B needs to be creative.
Must have been a grand hotel when it was their time. Great view. May have gotten one of their renovated rooms. Clean and comfortable.

Looks old…I don’t think it’s a 3 star hotel. Fancy back in the day but not anymore.
I can tell it was beautiful…in the 1950’s. Needs an upgrade.
