How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewLocation is great. It's literally in the center. Everything is walking distance. It's a small hostel. Pablo at the front desk is the best. Will give you all the tips for your stay. It has A/C and heater. Our room hat a small balcony. Although there are many restaurants and bars around, it was safe and not so noisy. If you want a place in the center for a good price, Lido is the best.
Veeeeery small bathroom. Our room was in front of reception and we could hear all the conversations. Not a problem for me, but just to say that lift is very small. Fits one person with a suitcase. Or 2 people alone. It's on the second floor so we always went up through the stairs.

Looked like it hadn’t been updated since the 1980’s. No pillow protectors and only a mattress pad (no mattress protector). Poor value for money. Owners need to keep up with modern traveller expectations. A one-star hotel at a three star price. Location is both a pro and con. Yes, it’s central, but do you really want to listen to noise from nearby bars until 4 am?
Hello Amanda! We think it's very childish of you to give us a bad rating just because we don't allow you to smoke in the room. It's against the law both in our country and in yours. We understand, as you told us, that you're used to staying in luxury hotels where they allowed you to smoke. We're just a small family business and we like to respect the rules. Our prices are in line with other accommodations in the area. In fact, we have a much higher rating for quality-price ratio than any nearby accommodation, including large hotels. This is very easy to verify. It's true that our accommodations aren't particularly luxurious, but there's no need to lie with the intention of causing harm. All pillows have protectors, as do the mattresses. In fact, you have to go through four layers until you reach the mattress. But not everything you've said is a lie. It's true that we're very friendly, which is what sets us apart from the big hotels. We wish you the best!

Although the staff is not available physically 24/7 they are still available on WhatsApp. The other comments suggested that there’s a lot of noise that can be heard in the rooms, but we didn’t hear anything
The water ran out one of the days - but it was an issue with the whole neighborhood and not just this hotel. The issue had been resolved by the time we got back in the evening.

Since it’s a family owned business, the personal touch shows in every detail - Marco (and his brother) were extremely kind and welcoming and went the extra mile for us. Massive thank you again! The room was exceptionally clean and we couldn’t have asked for anything else! The complimentary coffee in the morning was a great start of the day as well.

Verified reviewFamily owned 50 yr business now run by 2 Brothers. Location in center city old Town nearby tourist favorites & locally owned restaurants, bodegas, bars & entertainment. Pablo (1 brother) gave us extensive info on things to do, places to see & good places to eat. He has a fun sense of humor.

Verified reviewThe place was exceptionally clean, cleaned everyday. Most of all loved the location, just a 1 minute walk from the centre while still being very quiet in the room itself. A very comfortable and homey environment, felt safe while staying there. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating with everything, check in was easy and Pablo gave us the best food recommendations 😉The great hospitality really made our stay that much better.

Verified reviewIt is a true price-performance hostel located in a central location. It is very clean and meets all needs. There is free tea and coffee service with croissant in the mornings. But most importantly, Pablo is an amazing host. He helped us with everything. His recommendations were excellent, especially when my phone broke and he suggested a repair shop. :)
