Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomHad to leave key when you go out, not a bad system but do feel bad when returning late and it discouraged us from nipping back to the hotel as and when and instead opted to spend all day out. Only 1 modern plug in the room, there were others but these were an old style so couldn´t actually use them.
Nice location, little bit outside of the main town centre but only a 5 minute walk really. Owners are very lovely and have a friendly dog Clean, tidy and quiet room. Had great views from the terrace Shower worked great, but was tiny!

United KingdomIt's a little out of the town centre, an uphill walk of maybe half a mile. But this means it's quiet and you're already part of the way up the hill for the next day if you're walking the Camino!
The hosts here are so welcoming. Their dog is cute, too. Good breakfast, nice terrace. It's a grand building, very clean.

United KingdomA 3.30pm check-in is very late - especially if you have been walking the Camino and want to rest when you arrive in Pontedeume The shower was very small Having to wait until someone answered the bell and opened the gate at the bottom of the hill did not feel very welcoming The hostel is a bit of a walk outside of the main town
It was very clean The bed was comfortable It was very quiet and tranquil

Czech RepublicNice private hostel. Lovely host. Camino Ingles passes through Pontedeume, while the accommodation is not directly in the town, you can connect to the Camino a bit further, plus you already have part of the hill done 😊

United StatesNot being able to drop my backpack there earlier. I got to their place around 1:00p, asked through the intercom if I could just drop my backpack, but they were strict about not even opening their gate until 3:00p, and suggested I just walk back into town, have lunch. I explored the town with my pack on. Not a huge thing - the room was sparse - would have liked to have some hooks or hangars.
The owners were a delight--really fun! Loved chatting with them. Nice green setting off the road and enjoyed sitting on the bench out front to relax with a book and emails.

PhilippinesThe location was great and the owner/couple accomodated us for early check in as we arrived early. Since we arrived there on Easter Sunday they helped us for church information to attend the Easter Mass. And this hostel has a beautiful chapel where you can pray and be with God.

United KingdomBreakfast arrived later than advertised. The coffee quality (unusually for Galicia in my experience) was deeply disappointing and the fare, minimal. Wifi coverage is patchy & did not include my room at all
The edge of town location is a virtue. Its peaceful. The staff were welcoming & helpful. Water for showering was both hot and delivered at high pressure (good for me!)

SpainThere didn't seem to be WiFi in the room, which would have been useful. Also, some bedside lamps would be good, in addition to the main ceiling light. The midnight deadline for being back in the hostel could be difficult if you wanted to go to a concert or festival in the evening, as things start & finish late in Spain.. However, as it is a hostel aimed primarily at walkers, who will usually be making early starts, the curfew is understandable. .
Lovely, friendly staff. Good location for walking into town or to the beach. Basic room with comfortable beds, and very clean. Enjoyed sitting outside, in the late evenings, watching the sunset & having a drink while taking in the beautiful view. Didn't eat breakfast there, as were going out in the mornings, but it was impressive that they offered a vegetarian option. As the hostel is primarily aimed at Camino walkers, there is a midnight curfew, which meant that the hostel was nice & quiet at night. All in all, a lovely place to stay.

She made a homemade delicious meal for the two of us the evening we were there. Her husband served us. We paid 18 Euros each for the meal and drinks. It was truly worth it! Thank you to both of you.

As this is fully automated, you will not know that the hotel transferred me to Rio Eume due to a 'breakdown'. Rio Eume was lovely, at €18, yet I paid €40 to stay at Hostal San Cristobal. I have written to them, twice, and you to ask for a refund of €22 - ie the difference in cost - but have heard nothing thus far

NetherlandsThe hostel was fancy! It doesn't quite look like a hostel, rather more like a hotel in a mansion on top of a hill. The interior is beautiful as well as the vista of the city from the garden. However, it is a 15-20 minute walk uphill, along a highway with heavy vehicles which could seem a long one if you are coming here while walking the camino. It is also necessary to consider that one has to walk back to the city for dinner and grocery as well. The next morning, it is the same walk before starting the camino again because the hostel is out of the camino ingles route. That was the only minus point for me in this hostel. Otherwise, the service inside the hostel was amazing!

United KingdomUnfortunately, the value for money is not good. I came here as pilgrim (i.e., restricted weight) and the room did not have any shower soap. Also the room was very small for the price paid, with no WiFi and A/C.
The property is very clean and well maintained
