How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. The room is relatively small
Dear customer: Thank you for sharing your opinion. We regret that you found the room small... although it was a double room, prepared for two people, and there were three of you staying there. We understand that the space may seem more limited when the occupancy is multiplied, as you did not want to pay the supplement for a triple room. Even so, we assigned you a room with a 1.80 m bed, a full bathroom with a bathtub and bidet, and the usual space we offer for a comfortable stay for two people. But of course, when you expect triple accommodation at the price of a double, it is difficult for everything to fit together as if by magic. We have taken note of your comment and encourage you, in future, to consider a room that corresponds to the actual number of guests. The bed linings and the towel were dirty.
Thank you for highlighting the beauty of the place and our excellent location. However, we find it difficult to understand your final assessment, especially when you give us a 10 in almost every area. You also didn't comment on anything upon arrival or departure, which would have allowed us to act immediately. We have an off-site laundry facility that complies with all regulations, and experience tells us it was likely a stain that wasn't completely removed or some hair that the dryer couldn't remove and the cleaner missed. We sincerely regret this; it couldn't have been otherwise when other reviews praise the cleanliness so highly. Even so, we believe that a small, one-off glitch, coupled with not being able to offer you a double bed, doesn't justify such a low rating. We work hard every day, and such harsh assessments for minor details deeply discourage us. The next time something similar happens to you, we encourage you to discuss it in person so we can find a solution immediately and not "punish" you as you did. I assure you that you will get better results and, above all, you will feel much better 😉.

However, we were surprised by your comment that "everything was rubbish" or that it wasn't renovated, since you stayed in the room featured on the Booking.com cover, which was recently renovated with great care and attention to detail. Verified reviewBasic but clean. Friendly and helpful reception staff. They offer a discount for nearby car parking. Bed comfy, shower good, aircon works well. There's a free kettle with tea and coffee in the lobby. Very good central city location. I would come here again.

Verified reviewGood value in Centro, close to main shopping/nighttime promenade street. Staff was very nice and most spoke English very well. My single room with bath was tiny but cool, clean, and comfortable.
There was a shared refrigerator that is on the smallish side, but worked well and not too full to be of use. It would have been nice to have a little kitchen area, at least a small sink with water and utensils. There was instant coffee available.

Verified reviewI usually don't leave negative reviews, but I feel it's necessary in this case. The cleanliness in the room was unacceptable. The pillow had a strong, unpleasant odor, and worst of all – I woke up in the morning to find a cockroach walking across the room. This is simply not okay, especially for a hotel in such a beautiful and historic city. I attached a photo for reference. Definitely not coming back, and I hope the management takes hygiene more seriously in the future.
We complain that a visit to such a good city is more about asking for an "economic compensation" than enjoying Granada. We appreciate the hours of insistence (WhatsApp included), although we prefer to dedicate them to those who come to enjoy, no to negotiate free nights, I don't want to lose a second day with us, keeping an 8.6 of miles of comments is our best defense.
