How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewPigal is a great little place. I got a recommendation from a friend who stayed here and it was worth it. Xavier, his wife and the entire staff were stellar. The room was small but comfortable and the location was great, just a few mins walk from the train station and everything else in Terragona. I stayed in a single room with an external private bathroom that was clean which is very important to me. The common area is a great spot to connect with the other visitors. If you ever stop in Terragona, I would highly recommend Pigal.
There was no air conditioning in the room (which I was aware of) but the ceiling fan is a bit noisy. It didn’t bother me because I sleep through anything.

Verified reviewGreat location - a block from La Rambla Nova and walking distance to everything! The front desk staff was kind, helpful and professional. The owner is actively involved in all aspects of the hotel and it shows in the quality and cleanliness of the property. I would highly recommend Hotel Pigal for a stay in beautiful Tarragona.

Verified reviewThe staff were incredibly kind and couldn't do enough for us. Though unexpected, the communal aspect of the dining room was very nice.
There was no a/c in the room and it was way too hot. A room fan. other than the ceiling one, would have been greatly appreciated.

Verified reviewWe love Pigal with its pleasnt home atmosphere and very friendly staff. We stayed here second time and spent a great week of our holiday in Tarragona. The hotel is situated in the city center close to the nice Miracle beach and market, shops and restorants. Room is simple wth a convenient bed and a TV, wth a good shower in the bathroom. In the kitchen you can use a refrigerator to keep your food, a kettle to make a tea, to buy a tasty coffee from coffemachine; there're some dishes, and also a shelf with the books - everything what you need for your daily life. This is a good place to meet and communicate with other people. Thanks a lot, Pigal!

Verified reviewGood location from train station and beach/town
Really overpriced for what you get. Quite tired basic decor and no air con. It was unbearably hot to sleep and hotter inside the room than outside!

Verified reviewFriendly welcome and efficient service. The room was clean, comfortable and had all that I needed. The location is very convenient - a short walk from the bus station and right in the centre of town. The provision of mugs, plates, cutlery, fridge etc is a real bonus - it is so convenient to have a hot drink and to be able to bring your own food and eat it there.
Little packets of shower gel, no shampoo. A dispenser would be better.

Verified reviewExcellent quality for the price. Staff were very helpful and forthcoming, able to explain all the necessary questions and to give indications regarding visiting the city and the surroundings. The hotel is situated in the city center but on a very quiet street, within walking distance to the train and bus stations, and a ten-minute walk to the main beach of the city.

Verified reviewThe helpful staff on arrival
I was listening to the radio (not loud). I fell asleep and about 12-30 there was someone hammering on my door. I opened the door and four policemen were outside. The person in the room next door had actually called the police about the music coming from my room (not loud I hasten to add) I just find that completely beyond comprehension why someone would do that. Ok, you can’t control the sort of people you have in your hotel but what really pissed me off was the attitude of the management at the time who blamed me for playing music (again not loud). Apparently I was responsible for other guests being disturbed by the police when it was the person who phoned the police who was responsible. I just checked out and moved to another hotel
Dear guest, Thank you very much for your comment. We urge you to be honest. Every day you drank too much and fell asleep in your room with the music so loud it disturbed the surrounding rooms. Management asked you to please turn down the volume, but you ignored us. You disturbed us with the music every day and fell asleep every day with the volume too high. You yourself left the Hotel Pigal. Sincerely, Xavier (Manager of the Pigal)
