How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWas a very positive experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which made check-in and throughout my stay very pleasant. The hotel offered good facilities, including clean and comfortable rooms that provided a cozy environment after a busy day. Additionally, its close proximity to the train station made it incredibly convenient for me to commute easily to other cities in Spain, saving time and hassle. Overall, I would rate my experience an 8 out of 10, and I would certainly consider staying here again for both business and leisure trips.
While my overall experience at Hotel Madrid Chamartín was quite positive, there are some areas that could benefit from an upgrade, especially given its affiliation with Meliá, which is known for high standards. The rooms could be modernized and refreshed to align with contemporary design and comfort expectations, enhancing the overall guest experience. Additionally, the breakfast facilities have room for improvement

Verified reviewFriendly staff. Good food. Good facilities. Excellent value for money
It’s a bit outdated in parts and the noise insulation is poor. I could hear the guests upstairs talking. Typical in Spanish buildings but in a hotel I’d expect it to be a bit less

Verified reviewThe location was very close to the train station, The breakfast was good The beds were very comfortable The room was very clean and a good size
The exterior of the Hotel was very shabby. The aircondioning was very noisy The pool didnt open till 12, so we couldnt have an early breakfast and a swim before checkout at 11, which would have been great ahead of a 22hour flight. The photos were very misleading and obviosly taken in its prime

Verified reviewBuffet breakfast that was included.
The bed was very uncomfortable, as I could feel the springs in the mattress, which made it difficult to sleep. The room was also poorly insulated, and I was disturbed by loud footsteps and banging noises from the guests above during the night. The bathroom needs improvement. The toilet seat was misaligned and shifted when sat on, which felt unsafe. The bathtub/shower was extremely slippery — I nearly slipped when stepping out and only avoided falling by holding onto the bar. This felt quite dangerous and could lead to injury. Overall, I think the hotel would benefit from upgrading the mattresses, improving sound insulation, and renovating the bathroom with safer, more secure fixtures.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was good.
Restricted pool opening hours, the attitude of one reception staff. The outside of the hotel looks dingy so first impressions are questionable. We had to carry our bags up the stairs as we missed the small elevator signage which could save us a bag haul.

Verified reviewThe closeness to the train station. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was fantastic!
The lack of restaurants and bars that were open nearby (We went on a Monday).
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. We are delighted that you appreciated our prime location just 200 meters from Chamartín train station. Your kind words about our friendly staff are greatly appreciated, and we are pleased that you enjoyed our extensive Mediterranean-style buffet breakfast with its variety of breads, cold cuts, fruits, and pastries. Regarding the limited dining options nearby on Mondays, while we understand this can be inconvenient, our Central Plaza Restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and à la carte snacks for dinner, and our bar is open daily from morning to night. We are particularly grateful for your perfect scores for our facilities, comfort, cleanliness, and service. The entire team really hope we can welcome you back on a future occasion. Verified reviewI liked the size of the room and the cleanliness of the room.
We chose this hotel because it had Parking. When we got there it didn't have parking. We had to pay for 1 day €29,- They said the parking was not of the hotel. In that case ANY hotel can put parking, because there is always parking somewhere!! The breakfast area was way too cold, which made us leave in a hurry. The breakfast was mediocre, because there was a lot of food but not the things we had was not nice. The scrambled eggs were nearly cold the roll was dry and old, coffee not really nice. Also the elevators are very small. Plus we didn't know there was so many roadwork. We drove by the hotel 5 times in circles as the hotel is invisible in a dead end street. If someone books the hotel, they should inform the guests about it and explain where they are.
Dear Mr. Jan, Thank you for taking the time to review your visit. We are pleased that you appreciated the spaciousness of our rooms, which range from 25 to 36 square meters, and our high cleanliness standards maintained through daily housekeeping. Regarding parking, we apologize for any misunderstanding - while we do have connected parking facilities as mentioned in our hotel information, we clearly state that it is not our own parking and carries an additional cost. About breakfast, we maintain a wide variety of fresh options in our Mediterranean-style buffet restaurant, and we will review the temperature settings. As for finding us, we are indeed located near Chamartín station, and we recommend using our exact address for GPS navigation. We appreciate that you gave high marks for the comfort of your room, which is one of our key priorities for all guests. We look forward to welcoming you again.
