Breakfast was great, very fresh with daily backed breads and local ingredients.

It would be better if there was a little fridge in the room.

Beautiful establishment, attentive staff, waste free, comfortable stay.

The walls are a bit thin so I was able to hear the neighbors while they speak in their bathroom.

Room #1, although plain, was spotlessly clean and the beds were truly excellent. Lighting was a bit over the top: our room needed artificial lighting at all times as it only had two small windows. The bathroom and shower were great with good hot water and shower pressure. Excellent towels. The medieval (?) bread oven in one of the walls was very cool. Breakfast is ok, but ridiculously over complicated by having to select your breakfast items and the time you want them the previous morning. Staff got very confused by two people trying to order different things on the same form, leading to random breakfasts. Guess what? They could sort things out anyway. I recommend the yogurt: best I’ve ever tasted, and the orange juice and scrambled eggs. There is an unstaffed dining room and living room from 2pm onwards, both comfortable but virtually unused while we were there. There’s free cake (good), but tea and coffee are extra (2-2.5€). Beer (3-5€), wine (15-25€, but decent) and crisps are also available through an honesty system. Bottled water in the room, with drinkable tap water for those who don’t like plastic bottles👏. There’s a pleasant enclosed courtyard. Pi is a pretty restored village, with no facilities and no traffic except for the odd tractor and garbage truck. Parking is opposite the hotel entrance. The village has the obligatory all night barking dog; close your windows properly and take ear plugs if you are in room 1! It’s only five minutes by car from a proper Catalan mountain town, Bellver de Cerdanya. BdC has plenty of bars, bakeries and restaurants, reasonably priced. You need this because Intrepid has no evening facilities. Try the Minimon creperie/bar and the bakery and gelateria round the corner. Easy free parking. Puigcerda is your nearest decent shopping, with a good Carrefour (easy parking), about 25 minutes from Pi.

Arrival was a nightmare for us, and for other guests. I had pre-warned the hotel of our arrival time, 1730-1800, and got the response that this was perfect. However the hotel is unstaffed from 1400 onwards, which is not mentioned in the description or anywhere else, like their response. I now know that on your arrival afternoon the Intrepid emails you details of how to get through the gates, find your key and find your room. As we had flown from London to Barcelona and driven for two hours through storms I had not checked my emails and found myself trying to get through a sold metal gate while getting very wet, with lightning crashing around me. Rocky Horror Show? After much swearing I tried to find a contact phone number and discovered the ‘checkin’ email in my junk folder. Whoopee! i didn’t exactly feel welcome, more like an AirBnB customer at a premium price. I’m not sure if I ever met the owners, as all contacts were with serving and cleaning staff. This review is the only way I can report my issues! The Intrepid says it is cyclist oriented. We were there from Saturday to Thursday in August. On the Sunday a bunch of guys from a bike tours agency turned up (outside our bedroom window), made a lot of noise, and then disappeared. There is definitely a bike rental service which looks quite decent, to be fair, but I think this business model may not survive. At the end of August the hotel had only six guests on our last three days, none of whom were there for cycling. Maybe the place transforms in the snow season. I’ll bet it looks amazing. This is a truly spectacular area for scenery!
