How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewReally enjoyed this hotel. In a great location in the old town. I was worried it might be noisy, but turned out to be fine. We didn't notice any noise at all. Clean and comfortable.
Wifi wasn't great in the room, but fine out in the common area.

Verified review- The room is very nice, very nice bathroom, clean - It is located in the old town, very close to nice restaurants, Carrefour, ecological shop, pintox bars. - The receptionist is very kind and helpful and I was allowed to store my suitcase during my day trip. I am very thankful for that. He also helped me with locating the airports bus stop close to the Carlton hotel, which saved me time and hassle. Thank you! He is natural, he loves his job and talking to people. :)
- With such a central location you have to count with a bit of night noise late into night as well as early noise from the cars supplying the shops and restaurants & dust bin collectors. I recommend earplugs for the noise-sensitive ones. - The room is located in a nice old building. You can also smell it on the staircase as well as in the room a bit (like dump air). I suggest - keep the balcony open so that you have fresh air for the night. - The breakfast costs 9€ and you get a good value for money (bread, ham, fruits, drinks, yoghurt). For those with gluten and lactose intolerance you better buy something in Carrefour and make your own breakfast. I was offered to use the dinning hall and kitchen counter, which was very kind (incl.toaster, tea).

Verified reviewGreat location in the casco viejo, multiple options of bars and restaurants downstairs. The room really comfy and hotel is cozy and nice decorated. The room with balcony to the street is perfect with a small table and chair. The window is great noise cancelling and AC works perfect so we had a very pleasant stay.
Mini bar fridge doesn’t work at all, it would be nice to have it during our stay

Verified reviewThe location, the cleanliness and the staff. The room was beautiful and cosy but small.
The room wasn't very bright because the window looked out on a closed patio.

Verified reviewExcellent location in the Old Town in the centre of everything, close to great neighbourhood bars/restaurants, and yet it was so quiet (even though we had a room with a balcony that faced on to the street)! Staff were super-friendly and helpful with information about the city, and the room was large, clean and comfortable. Quirky old building, but has an elevator for anyone with concerns about mobility/access. Communication with directions, access etc was all clear.

Verified reviewI stayed just one night but wished I could have stayed longer. The place is full of charm, spotless, and right in the center of everything. The host was warm and welcoming, offering great tips for restaurants and local sights. Perfect for a short stay with lots of character!

Verified reviewWell appointed room, with two chairs to sit in. Right in the middle of old town, so easy to explore on foot. Although we were located right above a loud street, the room was very quiet, no disturbance at all. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Really grateful to the host for calling a cab to pick us up at 6 am on a Sunday morning to get to the airport. Bilbao is a beautiful city, we enjoyed it greatly.
The shower was a bit leaky.

Verified reviewThe location is excellent, and both the room and common areas were stylishly furnished and well-maintained.
This accommodation is not suitable for those looking for a good night's sleep. The window in the room couldn’t be opened as it faced a courtyard with a restaurant kitchen, which constantly emitted heat and unpleasant smells. Due to poor sound insulation, the room was noisy at night, and we were disturbed by noise from the surrounding rooms.

Verified reviewGood location in Old Town. Quirky, character. Cozy atmosphere.
Bed was ok, not the most comfortable. Room quite dark looking into inner courtyard. Looked at what was on offer for breakfast - mainly processed foods didn’t appeal.

Verified reviewEnjoyed staying within the Old Town. A friendly, interesting atmosphere at this B & B. Our room was very comfortable. Enjoyed the personal touch at breakfast - E9.50 each. Easy walk from the train station. Close to the tram for travel to the bus station. Liked Bilbao, hope to return soon.

Verified reviewIt has a lot of character, unlike so many hotels these days. The Casco Viejo location is fun, and though we were worried about noise from the street, our room was in the back and perfectly quiet.
No toiletries (one soap dispenser in shower for everything), mini fridge wasn’t cold, not the most comfortable bed.
Dear guest: thank you for your kind review. We would like to point out: . 1- We refuse to fill the bathroom with plastic objects and packaging that hardly anyone uses (toothbrushes, combs, hats, bars of soap, etc.) and which only serve to increase the waste problem. We do offer hands soap gel and a good quality shampoo-shower gel combination with minimal impact on the environment. . 2- The fridge of the room has a control to easily regulate its temperature. . Best regards.

Verified reviewOur room was very nice with two beds as requested and it was very quiet. But a large window opened onto an interior area that was rather unpleasant. Solution was just to keep window closed. Staff was amazing!
Well, my friend in another room battled three unpleasant mosquito bites and I killed one in our bathroom. Also the internet did NOT work at all in our room necessitating us to sit in the public area to use it. That was inconvenient.
