Since the town is very small, if you need a store you'll need to drive a bit.

Madremanya itself is a small, gorgeous medieval and early modern town, in a beautiful area of the Baix Emporda, made of rolling hills, valleys and forests, hiking parks, and other gem-like towns. Everything about the hotel is done with terrific aesthetic sensibility and care, from the landscaping to the pool to the layout of the rooms. The owner is personable and pleasantly ironic. The restaurant is fantastic, whether breakfast or dinner.

There is nothing that I didn't like.

The location in the medieval town of Madremanya was spectacular, and the hotel is integrated completely into the walls of the village. The restoration has been done very sympathetically yet with all modern conveniences such as air con etc. The pool and garden area is delightful and the restaurant is wonderful, especially if you're a foodie and interested in Catalonian cuisine. The staff were friendly, helpful and engaging. The owner, Joan, was the perfect host. I can't actually fault this place.

We love this hotel and all the staff and the owner are very nice and friendly! Food is amazing, we had same tasting menu twice, because compared most restaurants we tried in Spain, this hotel restaurant definitely best value and food quality! Breakfast is simple but quite high quality, would be better if more hot food ( there’s only scrambled eggs and bacons). The shower gel and body milk smell good, the room design is very lovely and cozy. There’s tiny kitchen which enough for me to cook for my 2 years old baby.

La Placa is a wonderful calm oasis off the beaten track in a tiny village that has not changed since the 15th century. There is an excellent restaurant in the hotel which offers great value. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. They were very accommodating on our last day when our flight was late in the evening out of Girona.

The staff were so friendly helpful and very helpful.The dinner at the restaurant was exceptional and the chefs went out of their way to accomodate my husband who is vegetarian and nothing was too much trouble.The waiting staff were very friendly too and rooms were very comfortable.We were here on our honeymoon and it was most definitely a trip to remember.thank you to the hotel for making our stay so wonderful.

The owner, Jaume, and all staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Jaume went an extra mile to connect with the guests and make sure you are having the most comfortable experience. There is a sense of homeliness, timelessness and genuineness to the place, surrounded by historical buildings and an authentic European atmosphere. The pool was very calm, tranquil and private. Our dining experience at the restaurant was sensational with a cozy vibe. Food was amazing, paired with a range of wine options. Having their fresh and locally-sourced/ home-grown breakfast outdoor including a variety of cheeses, fresh fruits, pastry/bread and ham/salami/sausages would make a good start of the day.
