Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalNo services at the swimming pool, expensive choices for dinner in the hotel, every thing needs to be paid apart, like renting towels to the swimming pool...
Swimming pool was truly good to relax after the day into the camino.

United StatesThe wifi is terrible. My laptop warned me the connection wasn’t secure. That didn’t really matter because the connection continually dropped out so I mostly had to use my phone service anyway.
Right on the Camino. After nearly 2 weeks of guesthouses, shared apartments and hostels it was very nice to be in a real hotel. Even though the Hotel Scala is one of those old places with faded carpets and long hall ways with dozens of rooms all exactly the same it had good a/c which was wonderful after days without it in the Spanish heatwave and there was lovely crisp linen. My room was right down the end of a hallway and very quiet. Okay food in the cafeteria with extensive kitchen hours.

United StatesThe staff were rude. Not just one person but all involved behind the desk. I chose to ignore it, and smiled through the process. I was hot and tired but when we walked into the elevator, my husband, who usually says nothing, made a comment. He was spot on. In general, they seem to cater to tour buses and not the average person. We didn't require anything above or beyond our room so we only had to deal with the staff checking in and checking out. Checking in was ten minutes. If you can get past that, then I would recommend staying.
The hotel was beautiful. Some reviews said it was run down but I found it to be lovely. Historic. Clean. We were exhausted after a day of walking and it was wonderful to have an air conditioned room with a large shower right on the Camino. The cafe downstairs served sandwiches and burgers if you want to eat before the dinner hour. The food was very good. The room was large and clean.

United StatesOur triple room was a little cramped and so it wasn't possible to sit at the desk without moving the beds. It's a bit of a hike to the pool, but worth it once you get there. Wi-Fi can be hit or miss.
One thing that sets this property apart from others is the friendly and helpful staff. Whether at the front desk, in the restaurant/bar or breakfast room, they always went the extra mile to ensure that we had everything we needed. The rooms and facilities are clean and well-kept. It's great to have a pool to relax in after a long walk from Caldas de Reis. Having an affordable bar and restaurant means that you don't need to go back into Padrón for lunch, dinner or a snack.

United StatesFront desk staff was a little inhospitable, but there was a large group checking in. Morning staff much better.
Right on the Camino path. Comfortable rooms with air conditioning that worked almost too well. The restaurant downstairs was a little splurge the night before our end of the Camino. Honestly was one of the best grilled steaks I have ate anywhere! The server, while she was the only one staffed tables, was friendly, efficient, and wished us a buen Camino. I didn't get her name.

AustraliaNo kettle or cups in room. No freezer to make ice packs for all our sore spots (we were on camino, older walkers and had been using ice packs for recovery.) 5euro non refundable pool towel. If we trying our towel should have been refundable. Not enough dinner food choices. Being so far from padron we didn’t have much choice about good.
The swimming pool, breakfast buffet, hot shower, room we were given on 1st floor, staff very helpful.
