Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainIt should be made very clear that there is no phone reception at all in the house we stayed in and we had to pay extra to change our booking to a room in the hotel itself
The location is amazing and the houses are beautifully traditional. We ended up staying in the hotel itself so we had a phone signal, the staff were amazingly understanding and very helpful.

United KingdomI was expecting more advice/help regarding getting to the castle and train/bus timetables out of the town...We left on Mayday not realising there was no public transport, so were left stranded!
Great set up...loved the coffee in the cafe in the castle :-) Beautiful place

Czech RepublicAs almost everywhere in Andalusia, moving toilet seat, 1 long pillow and short bed for tiny people (suitable for 160cm people). It would be nice to have directions where to check-in after you make a reservation.
Interesting option to stay at before or after visiting Gibraltar. Very quiet and comfy, good restaurant on site. Appreciated the extra heating in winter. Equipped kitchen.

GibraltarOne must consider they are very old houses but we had all we needed i think its good value for the price .
A very quirky house, we stayed one night only. Bed was comfy and there was central heating. Restaurant was just opposite the house, we had a good meal.

United StatesThere weren't a lot of options for eating if we stayed in the castle. There were, however, a couple of places down the road a short distance, although it wasn't clear if they were open regularly during the week. We had some miscommunication about breakfast options, which seemed quite limited. Also the cafeteria service was in a cozy, interior area, but with no windows, which felt a bit claustrophobic in the morning.
We loved staying inside the castle! We stayed in one of the casitas and enjoyed wandering around. The casita was simple and atmospheric, and had a convenient little kitchen and eating area. The sleeping/living area was very spacious. The staff made a nice effort to answer any questions and give us information. One person even called some friends in Jeréz to get some recommendations about sherry bodegas to visit. The view from the terrace of the hotel was breathtaking! There was no wifi or phone service in our casita, but the hotel had nice areas with comfortable sofas where we could go and have a good strong connection. The restaurant served excellent food! We were able to make easy day trips to other places we wanted to visit in the area.

Czech RepublicThe room is old with little to none appliances. I wasn’t expecting much but it could be done so much nicer - to not have chipped paint on the fridge, droppings of the ceiling on the sofa, have a kettle at least. The beds are very uncomfortable, stiff and with one long pillow for the double bed.
The location is beautiful - the walks you can take all over the place and the views are magnificent. The bathroom was thoroughly cleaned.

United KingdomTotally unique. Stunning location steeped in history. Really helpful staff.. Although it was very basic, which was part of the charm, we had to ask for a kettle and hairdryer which they kindly supplied on day two.

FranceThe breakfast offered was minimal at best.
The location was exceptional. The lodgings were rustic but had all the necessities. Lovely little passages to roam around. The restaurant was simple but the food and service very good. We love game and it was well prepared.

United StatesHousekeeping supplies in the kitchen were not adequate. Bring your own kitchen towels and matches for the stove. One may consider staying in the hotel if modern is your expectation. The "casa" are original old homes.
The location is unique on a hilltop fortification in a setting that harks back in time. The rates are great in the "casa" we rented and dinner was available. The chef provided excellent dinner options. Views, nature and history all in one. The drive up is an experience.

Latvia- apartment did not have a WiFi only at the hotel. That is an issue since there was not GSM coverage at all too. No bars at all. - apartment smelled damp and moldy - air-conditioning also blew damp air so we couldn't just heat the place up
- cozy apartment in a small house in the center of the Castillo - had everything we need - very quiet

GermanyBad organised parking and luggage handling - you have to carry everything up quite far. There is no internet and any signal (except satellite 😀). I almost broke my head hitting low ceiling and door openings with my 182 cm! It’s really dangerous. Houses look cute from outside, but are filthy and very badly functional inside - uncomfortable beds, dropping fridge, broken furniture. It’s generally quite poorly managed. It’s really not worth for the price.
It’s in the andient castle. The only what worked properly was AC.
