Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI stayed fir 2 nights. The room is very large and very clean. There is a loud music outside at least until 11 pm or later. I paid for breakfast, but did not get a chance room try any. No box snacks available for early departure. And, of course, the area around is under construction. There is no sign for hotel outside the building, etc.

United KingdomIt's not quiet because there is a school (daytime) and a night club (night time). They won't accept credit card payment, so you have to prepare Paypal account etc.

United StatesThe only problem here is the internet. It didn't really work for us. But honestly, this is something you will have to get used to in Addis so not really the fault of the property.
Betsi is one of my favorite places to stay in Addis because of the super helpful host and the convenient location. You get free breakfast and are a short walk away from the best eats in town. Highly recommend this place for couples and budget travelers.

Very good value for money accommodation in a very central location - it's possible to walk to many of the main attractions, churches, museums etc. Easy to communicate with the host. They arranged a free transfer from the airport because I stayed several nights.

United KingdomThere is a bar behind that can be a bit noisy in the night. We had earplugs and it was not on every night, and not all rooms would be affected.
Betsi B&B was an excellent choice for us during our stay in Addis. It is close to the University area so really convenient for anyone visiting there. It is also close to some really good local restaurants. The rooms are basic but well equipped and even have a small kitchen area which is handy. The whole place is really clean. The breakfasts were simple but perfectly adequate, toast, butter, jam, scrambled egg, tea - all fresh. The staff there were wonderful. From the sweet, humble cleaning lady to Biruk the manager. Biruk went out of his way to help us... He is a very genuine individual, good company and cannot do enough for you. He took us out on a day trip around Addis and also came with us on various outings to help us find things to buy and get fair prices. I would definitely go back if I visited again.

United StatesThe location is right next to a poorer 'shanty town', which are unfortunately very common in Addis. That's absolutely not a knock against the establishment, but may make some people uncomfortable.
This is a wonderful B&B; it is very local and very convenient to the National Museum (across the street), and in an area filled with little shops, , grocery stores, ATMs, restaurants and only about 4 km north of Meskal Square. Biruk and Betsi are wonderful hosts and work very hard to ensure all their guests are well taken care of, and clearly enjoy what they do. It is their place and they show it!! They are a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for their city. Rooms are very spacious and equipped with all the basics. The building is secure and one floor of a 5 story building with offices in the other space. Food was very satisfying and will get you off to a good start for your day. Note that this is a good solid B&B; it is not a fully equipped business or family-style hotel but it's wonderful place that will serve you well for a stay in Addis! It is PERFECT for a DIY tourist.

Democratic Republic of CongoThe external view from the room. The breakfast was a bit poor but compare to the room price, I can understand. Simply, they need to improve as the name of the Hotel is BBB ( Betsi Bed and Breakfast) so they have to take care of the triple B.
The location is nice, just in front of the National Museum. Betsey picked me from the airport to the hotel, and they charged me only 10$. Staff knowing the country history and explaining to the guest. Particularly, the availability of Biruk to assist me during my 2 days stay was exceptional. He took me to the mountain, the city tour, foods and parks.... I really appreciate his company.

NetherlandsThe place was a bit noisy - there was some noise from the hallway, and from the part of town where the B&B is located. It was also difficult to keep the room dark during daytime.
Betsi, the host, was the best thing about this B&B. She gave me a warm welcome in her perfect English. When she noticed I was struggling to find a place to eat, she personally drove me to a nice and not too expensive restaurant. Betsi was always ready to help me out with anything.
