I explicitly searched for a hotel with a swimming just to arrive and find out it was closed for several months for maintenance (in fairness, they mention it on the website but not on the booking.com). The rooms could use a little bit of upgrade / renovation- it’s clear that the hotel has been there quite a while. The room access cards were very sensitive. Every time I went out of the hotel they stopped working (possibly due to the security frame?) and I had to go back down to the reception to reactivate them (slightly annoying if you are in the 12th floor).

The staff was amazing and incredibly kind and helpful at all times. The garden with the restaurant is very nice to eat, but also work and hang out. The location is great, safe and quiet - close to the Friendship park, which is great for running or walking.

The service at the Hilton, Addis Ababa was outstanding as always: we were really made to feel at home, and very well looked after. Breakfast was excellent and the gym, pool and spa were all good. The room service menu is rather limited and some of the physical infrastructure is a bit tired but it remains a great place to stay!

The rooms are spacious, but exceedingly dark - after sundown, the only lighting is from two bedside and one desk lamp. The bathrooms do not appear to have been refurbished for decades. The water temperature in the shower can change suddenly, and is dangerously hot.

Great breakfast. Friendly staff. The wifi is strong - I had to download some very large data files, and had little difficulty. The gym is well-equipped. The rooms are quiet.

The hotel can get very busy at times and it was sometimes difficult to find a table to eat dinner by the pool. Service was quite slow, but the hotel was very busy during our visit so staff may have been over run.

Staff could not have been friendlier. The hotel is well located and perfect for a short stay. Rooms are very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The pool area is lovely.

Sometimes - weekends and holidays the restaurants were very busy although the staff did their very best not to keep you waiting. Pool too crowded a lot of the time which put me off swimming.

Breakfast was great. Staff were super helpful especially the concierges who sorted out a driver to take me to meetings. Tewodros (Teddy) was brilliant. Loved the gym. Great equipment.

One staffer gave me a bit of an attitude when I wanted to print something. Breakfast could be better quality. Tiramisu was also not tiramisu - please see Gennaro Contaldo’s YouTube video for an easy and authentic tiramisu.

Swimming pool area was gorgeous. Most staff treated me so well, including the porter and several room service staff who offered to get me a nurse the day I was sick. I tipped all the room service staff because they were so lovely. I also liked all the little shops in the hotel.

It is difficult to believe that you stay at Hilton, building and room furniture is at least 30 years old! Except for the bed and few more items, the rooms are definitely need to be changed. Breakfast area,no ventilation and limited choices considering Hilton brand. It is felt that staff either do not listen or do not understand English. They tried charging 130 usd more during check out,comparing to booking rate and when it is asked they say “it might be because of taxes and service charges”without checking twice;even though the rate was wrong indeed. Water bottles were suspicious as seemed like being filled in the hotel since none of the caps were able to be torn out.

Staff attitude was not entirely friendly. Sometimes can see visible frustrations for even asking about regular housekeeping stuffs.

I had higher hopes for the breakfast - crowded, not very appealing menu. I was also a bit surprised by how hot the pool was.

The amount of space on the property is fantastic, and the staff were all incredibly hospitable and kind.

At pool area a better discipline and hygiene should be promoted. People often spit and don't take shower before going to swim.

I liked the traditional coffee ceremony corner. The guys in charge of luggage were really very helpful.
