How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewOur stay at Aroha Taveuni was a special experience. Catherine and Rod were excellent hosts, always willing to answer questions and give us advice about what to do and where to go. The staff were wonderful -- friendly and welcoming -- and the meals were superb, cooked by the very talented chef Chris. The bures too were very well designed, comfortable and spacious with easy access to the beach and an incredible view over the Somosomo Strait -- the sunsets! We did a number of excursions from Aroha -- birdwatching, a visit to Bobbi's farm, the Lavena coastal walk, and snorkelling on the Rainbow reef -- which were all exceptional. Taveuni is truly the garden island of Fiji.

We had requested to go scuba diving but nothing was communicated or arranged prior to our stay. So when we got there everything was booked

For future visits, we recommend confirming any activity requests directly with us closer to arrival so we can ensure everything is organised. Verified reviewAroha is a gorgeous property, there are only 5 bures and the landscaping is impeccably kept, the pool super clean, it's quiet and relaxing. Our stay already started off amazing by the resort's owner Rod picking you up from the tiny airport after an amazing flight with the best vistas below. We had our 25 year old daughter with us and were assigned a double-guestroom that was clean, quite large and exceeded our expectations. There was even a small kitchen area with a fridge and some basic essentials, like a water cooker, glasses, etc. The outdoor shower was our favorite, the beds spacious and comfy. We looked forward every single day to our breakfast outside in the beautiful restaurant on the resort. The lunch menu is extensive and the dinner menu rotates daily with delicious choices. The owners Rod and Kathryn really take great care of their guests and made plenty of arrangements for sightseeing, taxis and massages. Aroha Resort is simply wonderful, and we could not have been more pleased with this amazing find.

Verified reviewThe bures are beautifully situated with breathtaking views of the nearby islands. The garden is beautifully landscaped with exotic plants and flowers. The staff is very friendly and will always address you by your name, and the owners also do everything they can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The food is delicious, and all of this offers excellent value for money.

Verified reviewThe rooms were very spacious, the outdoor shower was great, and the little kitchenette is good. Fantastic view of Vanua Levy and the passage, with great sunsets. The dining room and outdoor seating is a nice setting.
The breakfast is rather basic for the price paid. Not much imagination or offering. The lunch and dinner menu is too extensive offering lots of western stuff. The daily special menu is nice but limited.

Verified reviewAbsolutely everything! Katherine and Rod take Pride in there new ownership of this resort. Beginning with the airport pick-up and continuing through each meal planned and prepared by the in-house restaurant, everything was perfect. Katherine was fantastic at helping us plan and reserve all of our local Taveuni activities from snorkeling and scuba diving the rainbow reef to waterfall hikes, birdwatching, waterslides, and so much more. If you prefer chilling at the pool and a casual kayak or paddle boarding, Aroha has you covered there also. A super comfortable and relaxing stay!

Verified reviewWe just finished our honeymoon at Aroha Taveuni and honestly, it was one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. The bures are super comfortable, the beds are great, the outdoor showers are awesome, and the view from the front porch amazing. It was so quiet and peaceful, we could’ve easily stayed for weeks. Kathy and Rod and all of their staff were incredible hosts, super friendly and helpful with anything we needed. It really felt like nothing was too much trouble. The food at Kai Time, the restaurant next door, was also spot on. Great variety, fresh ingredients, and the service was excellent. If you’re looking for a chill, beautiful spot to relax in Taveuni, this is it.

Verified reviewWe booked two nights at Aroha and on the day we arrived we extended our stay because this place IS paradise. The bungalows are clean and I mean clean clean. Also the pool is probably one of the cleanest I have ever swum in. The beds are so comfy, the outdoor shower was great as you can see the stars when showering. The owners payed attention to so many details and you can just feel they put their heart into making Aroha a special place. They have a little restaurant and we went there every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner and every single meal was delicious (Krish the chef did an amazing job). The staff is kind and they really try to make the best out of your stay. We felt so welcomed. Aroha has new owners since the beginning of the year and they made some changes to the furniture so the bungalows were even nicer than on the pictures. Another thing is their new coffee machine, the coffee was excellent! The garden and the property are well maintained, the beach is only five steps away from the bungalows and you can see a beautiful sunset every night.

Verified reviewWant to get off the grid? This is your place. (They have starlink if you want to stay connected) It's remote, quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. Rod and Catherine the owners could not have been better hosts. It's a small resort only 5 rooms . There is plenty to do on the island or you can just chill in the pool. The diving and snorkeling is world class.
Restaurant/food could use some improvement. But they are aware and working on it. They just purchased the resort recently.

Verified reviewThe landscape and gardens were beautiful and I do landscaping for a living. The food is very good at the restaurant on site. The rooms were awesome with the outdoor shower and kitchen but the highlight was the oversized king bed, sheets and 6 pillows!

Verified reviewLovely bures on the beach with fantastic dinners (seafood menu of the day, changes daily), good aircon, good wifi. Massages are excellent, a very good dive centre (Taveuni Ocean Sports) is a 15 min drive away.
Note the beach is not really swimmable outside high tide. 4% credit card surcharge applied on booking.com booking that stated “all fees included”, most unusual
