The staff didn’t really facilitate activities and activities had a minimum number of people for the activity to run, which meant if other people weren’t interested, you missed out.

Loved the location and cave trip. Meals were communal which was nice as a solo traveller. The room was spacious and clean.

Very beautiful and idyllic, lots of hammocks to lie around. The bures are pretty simple and old but it’s comfortable. Meal plan is FJD 60pp for breakfast lunch and dinner - pretty yummy. We did a cave tour through them which was FJD 130pp which includes a nice half an hour boat ride each way. Cave had a big area for swimming and an underwater tunnel to a smaller dark cave, led there by the guides. At the beach near the limestone caves were local ladies selling touristy trinkets- needed cash Very friendly staff! There is also a beautiful sunset spot just a 10min walk up a little hill

Nice little bungalow in peaceful setting

The weather was really bad during my 2 night stay unfortunately - nobody's fault - and I felt there could have been somewhere a bit more comfy to hang out indoors. The patio was completely rainwashed (and it was cold in the wind and rain!) and the chairs/tables in the dining room not really conducive to lounging around. Also it's clear that guests are expected to vacate the dining area straight after meals, especially dinner, with lights going out etc. It's fine, but a little comfy corner for socialising could make the difference.

This is a lovely little place, quiet and beautifully-situated. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is good - I had the best brinjal curry ever. I'd have eaten that 3 times a day but when I said that's what I wanted, I don't think they took me seriously ;) There are comfy hammocks for lazing and kayaks free to use; there's snorkelling just a stroll along the beach and a good hiking trail up to a viewpoint or right over to the Blue lagoon, then back along the beach. At mealtimes the tables are arranged to encourage mixing with other guests, which works well as it attracts a nice bunch of people. I loved my little bungalow with covered balcony and was very comfortable in there. I took the cave trip which was enjoyable. The boatman was very experienced and safe despite the crazy waves and rain.

Great place to come and unwind

One aspect that could be improved is the dining experience - staff tend to clear everything, including the tablecloth, while guests are still seated and chatting, which can feel a bit rushed. Some of the snorkelling equipment, particularly the face masks and snorkels, could use replacing. Wi-Fi reception is also quite limited and could be more reliable and available 24 hours. I would strongly recommend making it a requirement for the snorkelling boat to carry proper steps. In deep water, it's quite difficult to balance on the outboard motor and pull yourself back into the boat safely. The nearby village bakery has a charming vibe, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be fully operational. On both of our visits, there was very little food available.

We really appreciated that this property was much more affordable than others in the Yasawa Islands. While the accommodation is basic, it’s well-suited for families and provides everything you need. The food was excellent for the Yasawa - huge credit to the kitchen team! They even went above and beyond by making us a birthday cake, which was such a thoughtful touch. The property runs on solar power, which adds to its charm and sustainability. Highlights of our stay included the fantastic snorkelling trip and a fun walk to the nearby village, where we enjoyed watching the local rugby team train.

A humble break from resorts on a beautiful island, fun kayaking & fishing!
    • Leisure trip

    • Stayed 2 nights

The bathrooms need some work, cleanliness was poor particularly with the shower and toilet. We got hot in the rooms even with the fan going, making it hard to sleep. And both got quite sick during the stay, assumably from the water, so would recommend a filtered water bottle or water tablets.

Our stay at Nabua Lodge felt like a more authentic fiji island experience compared to the resorts. The people were kind and provided a more intimate experience with other travellers by having us eat together buffet style. We enjoyed getting to know everyone and exploring Nacula island. Easy walk or kayak to visit Blue lagoon resort, can even stay for lunch with a day pass. Nabua lodge lended us a fishing handline, we had lots of fun fishing using hermit crabs and shrimp as bait!

No hot water for the shower, no air conditioning in the room and it was really, really hot. A floor-standing fan is all I would need to keep the still air moving. Mosquitoes were also a problem.

The location was wonderful, the food was really delicious! I liked the very large bathrooms and our bure was attractive and well-maintained. The boat trip to the nearby caves was very, very nice.

It'd be nice to have a bit more variety for breakfast and more flexible times for meals. The rooms only have fan.

Bures are big, specially if you're traveling as a couple. The food was very nice. We could book a tour to the caves through them and everything went good (120 fjd per person). Staff is friendly and accommodating. In terms of meal plan, you only pay the number of meals that you actually have. Vinaka 🌺

Electricity would come on and turn off sometimes throughout the day and night but wasn't a big deal. Also the bure got a bit stuffy even with windows open but it’s understandable with climate. So worth the stay regardless!!!

Incredible place surrounded by greenery and incredible beach front views and palm trees. Private beach with multiple hammocks to relax all day in. Lovely staff and organised meals which were delicious. Staff were organised and kept to themselves a bit but were also there if you needed assistance.

I just want to precise it's off grid and comfort is basic. It is not a resort. It was a little bit hot in our Bure despite the fan. There is no air con and not plenty of (hot) water. It was not an issue for us, though, but it could be for people who are expecting more modern comfort. Mattresses were good.

Fantastic welcome in this small family own lodge. The lunches provided were all excellent. The location is amazing with a beautiful beach, coral reef for snorkelling, you can walk on the island, visit the village, and kayaking. So many thinks to do on site. Trips to the blue lagoon and cave are available and not far. We highly recommend this lodge suitable for everyone who is looking for a reel Fijien experience.

Better reach with the wifi would ideal. Not enough Shampoo provided & no conditioner in the shower. The beds were small, hard & lumpy & the springs were squeaky. The pillows were small & lumpy & the beds just had one thin sheet; no blanket. I woke up with a sore back both mornings. The beds should be replaced. No AC. (Although, we never found it to be a problem). It’s really windy at night & the wind keeps the rooms cool. In fact, I was quite chilly both nights. There are ton of tiny bugs in the room. If you bring food to the room, make sure you seal it tight. It would be great if they provide plastic bins to lock food away. The patios had uncomfortable plastic chairs & no drink table. No electricity between sunset & sunrise. The food was pricy for the quality

The grounds were beautiful & well kept & located waterfront on the most stunning blue and Green ocean. There were several hammocks available for use as well as kayaks, life jackets, flippers & snorkelling gear that you can borrow. The Bures were very basic but they were spacious. There were two chairs, a coffee table, a wardrobe & a fridge. The Bures had large fantastic front decks with 2 chairs. The bathroom was fairly large and had a toilet, shower & sink. The water pressure pretty good and I never had a cold shower (warm to hot depending on timing). They provided hand soap, single use shampoo & 3 towels. Wifi was pretty good. It only worked by the office though. The staff were (for the most part) friendly. Meals were served 3X’s a day (breakfast is buffet but lunch & dinner are plated). It’s assumed that you will be eating. If you will not be, you need to let the office know so they do not prepare you a meal. They bang on the drum to indicate that the meal is ready. They are $20 FJD. You can also eat at The Tea House for $20 FJD a meal (you need to order 3 hours a head of time). I’ve also heard that you can buy food & drink at The Blue lagoon if you prefer to eat there. There is filtered rainwater available to drink free of charge. They also sell bottled water if you prefer. They sell beer $7 FJD Lots of hiking! We hiked everyday that we were there. There was a ridge trail that you can take over to Blue Lagoon/Oarsmen-It took us an hour. Three lovely birds flew above us most of the hike watching over us. Walking back along the shoreline is abit shorter. Watch the tides! We also did a small ‘hike’ to the village, where we attended church (great experience). Woman need dresses past their knees, men need long shorts & collar shirts (preferably). Sandals are allowed. Hats are not allowed to be worn in the village. They collect monetary offerings so remember to bring cash.

The staff were friendly and readily answered any questions we had. They arranged boat trips readily to the caves and the Blue Lagon beach and for snorkeling. Our room was spacious and had all the amenities we needed. The grounds of the lodge were peaceful. The food was good quality wholesome cooking - thank you for the experience of eating octopus - it was so tender. Thank you all for a wonderful Fijian experience.

Some minor things such as: - intermittent hot water (not a big problem though and seems to be the case throughout Fiji so not a big complaint) - the fan in our room was very weak so sometimes was hard to sleep in the hot rooms - it was quite windy (though this was nice on hot days to keep cool) - the bathroom and toilet drains smelled quite badly at times - again though, there’s limited plumbing and facilities on the island so wasn’t really a problem

We had an absolutely fabulous time at Nabua Lodge! Wishing we stayed longer. The island is absolutely gorgeous and the accommodation grounds are beautiful and well-maintained; stepping off the boat into the crystal clear blue water and then into the gorgeous grounds was like entering heaven for us. The food was consistently delicious; it was a mix of western food with Fijian - sometimes we had pasta with crab or bolognese, other times things like traditional Fijian fish with coconut sauce and rice. The free kayaks and snorkel hire was a big bonus; we really enjoyed kayaking out over the 100m or so of sea grass into the aqua blue waters to swim. You can walk along the coast (ideally at low tide) or over the island ridge (up a steep path) for about an hour to get to Blue Lagoon / Oarsmann resorts over on the other side of the island; it’s a fabulous walk and a nice swim and cocktail on the other side, we loved doing it. Nabua Lodge was so relaxing and quiet; we only had between 5-10 other guests while we were there and the beach was almost always empty. The bures are spacious and quite simple. Lots of hammocks and comfortable spots to rest. A heavenly holiday!

The sun hide at the beach at 4pm what make it a little bit annoying. Rooms where really big, but really old, ours has a linking on the roof, with the heavy rain it wasn’t nice. Our shower was broken and we told them twice but no one came to check so we had to take the showers on the other Bure that we rent.

Staff really nice, and nice food. Nice snorkeling around, great to have kayaks to borrow.

Not the most comfy mattresses. I’d recommend bringing a spare pillow. If they made the bathrooms outdoor rooms, it would transform the experience.

If you’re looking for blissful tropical tranquility, this is your spot. The gardens are beautiful with multiple hammocks to choose from. The beach is pristine with a short swim to the azure waters and a bit further for the varied coral gardens. We loved the kayaks and ventured around the coast in the easy flat waters finding more coral and cool caves. The headland walk has breathtaking views of the blue lagoon at sunset. The nearby cave diving activity is a must. I balked at the communal dining at first but soon found the conversations and connections with the handful of fellow guests to be a highlight of my stay.

Not easy swimming, especially at low tide. No table on bure verandah - just rather flimsy plastic chairs. A small lamp near bed would be a nice bonus.

Compared to several similarly-priced lodges on other islands, Nabua stood out for its 24-hr electricity, good water pressure (hot water!), small self-serve bar with soft drinks, beer and wine. The grounds are very well-maintained and food is good. Friendly, family-run vibe, with attentive hosts and team. My bure had a ceiling fan which helped on hot nights, plus a small refrigerator (a luxury!) Beach is very tidal like most islands, so swimming means wading out past reef, but beyond the rocky causeway to the tiny island (on the right looking out to sea), you can find deeper water and good corals at low tide. Accommodation can be paid by card, meals and extras cash only. Recommended – would stay again for longer.

The seaview and large area of garden landscape of Nabua Lodge are excellent. The colour external appearance and interior decoration of wooden hut are attractive to eye ball.
