Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaTook a full 24 hours to understand how everything 'happened' as the initial communication wasn't great. However it got better and by the end we felt like family. The tea and pillows were terrible.
Location. Proximity to surf breaks. Ease of getting to resort from airport. Size of resort. Relaxed vibe. After a shakey start they catered for my gluten free needs very well.

AustraliaFriendly staff, very relaxed one to disconnect from technology and life.
Perfect for people who want to do daily surf tours. If you don't surf probably not enough to do unless you take boats out daily to visit other islands

PortugalThe only way to get to the hotel is using their transfer and we were not told about that after the booking. Also, it should be included since you have no other option.
Awesine staff, the permise was clean and pleasant. Beautiful place, located in the middle of nature and it was well maintained.

AustraliaThings took a long time. One day we were taken out to cloud break and the boat ran out of fuel. We had to wait 2 hours to have fuel brought to us No protein apart from eggs some days for breakfast so for a vegetarian the meals were limited although good just not enough to fuel the surfing It would be super helpful to have staff who are knowledgeable about surfing Would be a good idea how them to sell wax and other things for surfing
Just stayed for 10 days in a cloud break room up the hill with aircon which was much appreciated as it’s so hot. The bura on the beach don’t have aircon and are hot Food is included. I’m vegetarian and there was zero protein apart from the eggs at breakfast. If you have dietary requirements I’d suggest buying food to bring over with you to accomodate. We also took snacks It’s laid back and running on Fiji time. Things don’t work like they do at home but that is Fiji Lots of mozzies so take a lot of repellent We went to surf for 10 days. Take everything with you if that is what you’re planning. Take your own board as it’s very hard to get one there. Take your own wax. Take everything you need for surfing You are remote and stuck in the resort without accesss to anything to buy The staff aren’t surfers so they don’t know about the conditions. They don’t provide anything for you surf wise while you’re there apart from the boat going out It’s a budget option near the surf that’s easy to get to. Don’t expect high end. The staff were nice

AustraliaMy partner and I stayed at Funky Fish primarily so I could surf and she could relax and snorkel. The value for money and location is excellent for a chill, rustic, reasonably priced place to stay with all meals included on a nice semi-isolated beach. The staff are excellent, very friendly and accomodating and even hosted us and other guests for an impromptu Kava ceremony with a bunch of locals too. For surfing its ideal and has boats that will take you 20mins to the reef breaks such as Cloudbreak, Restaurants, Nomotu lefts, swimming pools etc. The snorkelling / reef life nearby is amazing too. I would highly recommend for people wanting more budget, friendly and convenient place to stay as opposed to a fancy resort.

HungaryInteresting experience. :) We kinda knew what we signed up for based on the reviews. We had last minute booking so we didn't have many options. It is a very simple place, so arrive with low expectations. Communication is zero before booking amd in person as well. I personally think it is not a good value for money. The food is edible, but you have no option what you get. I recommend you not to store any food in your room as a little animal might come and chew trhough your bag to get into your biscuits. :)) Put everything in the fridge.
Ocean view from the bungalow, hammocks on the beach, pool and sun beds, positiv vibe from the staff. Wifi at the pool area. I actually liked there were no interenet and phone sign in other areas as it was a good option not to be in the phone all the time. Food was okish, you even get a dessert. There are options to take organised trips by boats.

AustraliaAll meals were provided, which sounded nice at first - but there was no choice and all the meals were very similar. There is no were else to go and eat nearby this resort.
Interesting little resort in a remote location. More suited for surfers I think. Loveely little rooms with thatched roofs and seperate from the other rooms. Very laid back style.

AustraliaThe two bures I booked through booking.com werent the ones we got. It wasnt a problem for us, we were ok with it. I chatted privately to the manager and he was unaware, so I showed him our booking and he said the bookings are done via a management team (not him) who relay the information back to him. He was apologetic and said he’d speak to the booking team about this.
Its relaxed, quiet, not crowded. Activities not expensive. Food really good. Staff friendly and helpful. Listening to the water lap against the shore in the morning. Loved the bushwalk (quite challenging in the heat).

ChinaVery nice place but not as scenic as some of the other beaches on Malolo, or the surrounding islands. The beach was ok, but not great.
Located right on the beach so it was nice to go to sleep and wake up to the sounds of crashing waves. The price included breakfast, lunch and dinner, but drinks were extra.

New ZealandI'm a surfer so can put up with almost anything. The facilities are getting dated and the room was located at the top of a hill. You had to walk 300m from the main reception along a narrow path and vertical stairs. There is only one 9-seater boat so you are literally stuck on Malolo at the mercy of management and the boat driver. If they have staff errands to run or other guests on activities, you are stuck. Every little boat ride costs you between $60-$100FJD. It is easily 1 hour back to Denarau or Anchorage. No protection on the boat if its stormy and lots of chop. Booking counter #14 does not exist at Denarau Maria. Go to the Beachcomber counter (their partner opposite Cloud 9 counter) instead. I lost 30 mins trying to find it and almost missed the once-a-day transfer to Malolo. They Maloto Cat goes 4 times a day to Musket Cove for the same price. Then it's just a quick 10 minute boat to Funky Fish. This means you don't lose a day on the mainland to meet flight schedules.
I'm glad I booked a room with aircon and a hot shower. The food provided was very good, although on a 3-day revolving, fixed menu. It rained hard at night and the kitchen staff wrapped and delivered my dinner to my room saving me from getting drenched. The pool was small but clean and refreshing.

IrelandThe location is very isolated so you're very dependent on water taxi availability
The resort is great for a solo or budget traveller who's looking for a low key break in Malolo. The food was delicious, the staff extremely friendly and the accommodation very basic and quaint.

CanadaBreakfast was bad, very quiet and boring. Not a lot of the activities on the website were there and there was not much to do. Not a lot of opportunity for guests to interact.
Bures were nice, rooms were big enough with a large shower. Beach and pool were nice with free water sports. Lunch and dinner were good but breakfast was sad.

Amazing location just 30min boat ride to the surf. The food was very good and the staff was lovely. Tumeli, the manager, is super helpful and tried to accommodate all the guests needs. The price is very good compared to the surrounding options.

New ZealandBugs, slow reception but efficient, generator noise in first room (5), tidal water no snorkeling, water $8 FJD/LT is robbery as it is $3 FJD max on mainland.
Amazing location, friendly staff (Thank you Mari!) and good food. Bures are very basic but right on the beach, which is very tidal and not for snorkeling but you can paddleboard or kayak free. Location is short boat ride from Musket Cove accessible from mainland with ferry. Pool and relaxing area is good, bar is full service. Everyone sharing meals in dining area it's easy to get to know other travellers. Great atmosphere! Wifi in reception only. Very, very buggy (mosquitoes and sandflies) but rooms have screens-just bring lots of repellent. No aircon but not needed as fans and windows were perfect. I would not stay in new building at the top. Generator went out for the day-but they got it sorted by dinner This is an island! Lots of day trips (recommend Cloud9) for surf too.
