How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLocation. Proximity to surf breaks. Ease of getting to resort from airport. Size of resort. Relaxed vibe. After a shakey start they catered for my gluten free needs very well.
Took a full 24 hours to understand how everything 'happened' as the initial communication wasn't great. However it got better and by the end we felt like family. The tea and pillows were terrible.

Verified reviewSuper friendly staff and great community atmosphere. Yummy plainish food. Local style. Nice walk up the hill and around the rocks.
Not too much to do i(except lie by the pool) you’re not going out on a boat to surf or snorkel. There was a strong southerly for a couple of days that was noisy.

Verified reviewPerfect for people who want to do daily surf tours. If you don't surf probably not enough to do unless you take boats out daily to visit other islands
Friendly staff, very relaxed one to disconnect from technology and life.

Verified reviewThe location was beautiful and the gardens were neat
You don’t get any option of the menu. The manager was very rude. The coconut trees are not trimmed and you can hear them drop on the footpath to your room. The manager would ignore you when you would wait for a drink at the bar. All the boats would be taken in the mornings for the surfers so no boats left for guests that want to do day trips. The music was way too loud in the main section and the same songs would play on repeat. This is very much a surf resort for surfers. There is nothing to do in the day for non surfers. We ended up checking out early stayed 2 nights out of 5.

Verified reviewRustic and lovely location for a surfing getaway. Staff were great and arranged daily surfing excursions. Hike was also brilliant. Cabins were basic but clean and very comfortable.
I enjoyed the food but there was limited selection so a picky eater might struggle.

Verified review2 nights in a beachfront bure! • Check-in process: As the boat came in, they welcomed us with a song! Was smooth, our room wasnt ready on arrival, but checked in us in early and gave us an alternate room until our room was ready! • Decent breaky, lunch and dinner. Music entertainment during dinner and very happy staff! They can accommodate dietary needs - e.g. vegetarian/vegan etc. if you prior request/ask. • Communication: Very friendly and helpful staff.. although you need to be quite direct with any questions/queries you have and clearly ask for the solution, and follow up if needed.. as it's very chill Island life ;) • Cleanliness: clean and well-kept rooms and general areas • Amenities: Wi-Fi only worked in common areas, not in rooms. Great pool, chillout seating, sunbeds and dining areas, bar on site (doesn't open too late though!) • Location: Beautiful location on Malolo Island, didnt explore surrounding areas as was a short stay • Comfort: Comfy bed, good shower, nice pleasant and private bure with little beachfront seating area out front • Good value for money Would defo stay again.
• Communication: Very friendly and helpful staff, always available to help.. although very passive communication.. so you need to be quite direct with any questions/queries you have and clearly ask for the solution, and follow up if needed.. as it's very chill Island life ;) • Amenities: Wi-Fi doesnt work in rooms, the bar says it stays open till last person leaves.. which was untrue, it didnt open too late any nights and was no notifications when it closed! Would defo stay again.

Verified reviewAwesine staff, the permise was clean and pleasant. Beautiful place, located in the middle of nature and it was well maintained.
The only way to get to the hotel is using their transfer and we were not told about that after the booking. Also, it should be included since you have no other option.
Bula Vitor, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled you enjoyed your stay with us, liked the location and the resort as a whole and appreciate your kind words. Regarding transfers, you will have to emailed the resort team directly after your booking so they can provide all the options accordingly. We hope to see you again soon! Verified reviewJust stayed for 10 days in a cloud break room up the hill with aircon which was much appreciated as it’s so hot. The bura on the beach don’t have aircon and are hot Food is included. I’m vegetarian and there was zero protein apart from the eggs at breakfast. If you have dietary requirements I’d suggest buying food to bring over with you to accomodate. We also took snacks It’s laid back and running on Fiji time. Things don’t work like they do at home but that is Fiji Lots of mozzies so take a lot of repellent We went to surf for 10 days. Take everything with you if that is what you’re planning. Take your own board as it’s very hard to get one there. Take your own wax. Take everything you need for surfing You are remote and stuck in the resort without accesss to anything to buy The staff aren’t surfers so they don’t know about the conditions. They don’t provide anything for you surf wise while you’re there apart from the boat going out It’s a budget option near the surf that’s easy to get to. Don’t expect high end. The staff were nice
Things took a long time. One day we were taken out to cloud break and the boat ran out of fuel. We had to wait 2 hours to have fuel brought to us No protein apart from eggs some days for breakfast so for a vegetarian the meals were limited although good just not enough to fuel the surfing It would be super helpful to have staff who are knowledgeable about surfing Would be a good idea how them to sell wax and other things for surfing

Verified reviewSome of the staff were exceptionally friendly and the spa treatments were good I loved our ocean front room and listening to the sound of the waves and the mosquito netting around the cabana was very well done and so the room was well protected showers were hot with high water pressure the views of the ocean were lovely
Some of the staff were not friendly in the traditional way that Fijian people are- the place where as fairly Durga sized and there was no shade anywhere to relax by the ocean or pool The price value was not great for the lack of infrastructure and the food was bountiful but we really wanted local food like fresh fish and cassava not imported food which I know they thought was more special

Verified reviewthere are a few things one should know, before booking this resort: - the management is really bad, I had to catch the ferry and waited half an hour for the receptionist to show up for the check out - whenever you booked a boat for the surftrip it was late - oftentimes up to an hour late, and it wouldn’t improve during our stay, people ended up organising their own boat transfers - if you‘re not surfing, there is not much to do on the island if you’re still considering to book, definetly go for the 7- day surf package even if you’re staying shorter, I booked 5 days as i was leaving earlier and ended up paying more than my friends with the 7 days package deal (because they charge you for every single boat transfer).

Verified reviewMy partner and I stayed at Funky Fish primarily so I could surf and she could relax and snorkel. The value for money and location is excellent for a chill, rustic, reasonably priced place to stay with all meals included on a nice semi-isolated beach. The staff are excellent, very friendly and accomodating and even hosted us and other guests for an impromptu Kava ceremony with a bunch of locals too. For surfing its ideal and has boats that will take you 20mins to the reef breaks such as Cloudbreak, Restaurants, Nomotu lefts, swimming pools etc. The snorkelling / reef life nearby is amazing too. I would highly recommend for people wanting more budget, friendly and convenient place to stay as opposed to a fancy resort.

Verified reviewOcean view from the bungalow, hammocks on the beach, pool and sun beds, positiv vibe from the staff. Wifi at the pool area. I actually liked there were no interenet and phone sign in other areas as it was a good option not to be in the phone all the time. Food was okish, you even get a dessert. There are options to take organised trips by boats.
Interesting experience. :) We kinda knew what we signed up for based on the reviews. We had last minute booking so we didn't have many options. It is a very simple place, so arrive with low expectations. Communication is zero before booking amd in person as well. I personally think it is not a good value for money. The food is edible, but you have no option what you get. I recommend you not to store any food in your room as a little animal might come and chew trhough your bag to get into your biscuits. :)) Put everything in the fridge.

Verified reviewInteresting little resort in a remote location. More suited for surfers I think. Loveely little rooms with thatched roofs and seperate from the other rooms. Very laid back style.
All meals were provided, which sounded nice at first - but there was no choice and all the meals were very similar. There is no were else to go and eat nearby this resort.

It was very run down. From the second we arrived there was rubbish everywhere and old fridges washed up on the beach in front of the resort. The staff did not seem welcoming and no smiles. I have stayed at many budget places before but none this bad. The room was dirty and no drinking water in the rooms. The steps up to our room were all broken that it is a huge health and safety hazard that someone will hurt themselves soon on this. So after an hour at the resort we booked somewhere else and moved there. We would definitely not recommend this place.
