Food was great and the island had activities that you could join. Village was welcoming.

Tried to overcharge me when I got there. I also saw a dead rat or mouse one morning in the kitchen. Weren’t the best for helping with activities.

Jolame and Maria are a warm, generous, welcoming couple. They treated us like family and gave us an entré to their lovely village on Wayasewa (Little Waya) Island, the second island off the mainland in the Yasawa chain. No resort could have given us the rewarding experience of meeting Fijians where they live. We had plenty of opportunities to snorkel and sightsee, but it was our encounters with neighbors who would ask where we were staying. "Jolame Homestay" was all we needed to say to start a warm, and remarkably deep, conversation about life on the island. And Maria's cooking is exceptional. She was able to prepare gluten-free food at every meal for one of our party.

I would have enjoyed a hot shower. But, really, this island visit was not about conveniences. It was about getting out of the tourism bubble.

Jolame and Marie are very kind people, caring for everyone and very welcoming to their house. We had the best stay, luckily for us we had two nights without other visitors and had plenty of time to engage with Maria, talk about life on the island and enjoy quiet place. It's located at the end of the village, tucked away from the resort, yet it's a short walk to the main beach, and you can grab a drink at the Wayalailai resort. Jolame organised all activities for us, no problem. We recommend doing the hike with a guide, not just for safety (I am sure we could do the walk by ourselves if somebody pointed us the right direction) but also for a good talk about the village and the place. Apex was a great guide and very fun to spend time with. Sweet Marie did her best to accommodate my dietary requirements, and her food was magic, thank you!

There is nothing we'd say we didn't like. Just for everyone to know: the facilities - toilet and shower are basic, but clean and sufficient. Don't explect a running shower, there is a bucket, but all good for a quick clean. The big spider by the bathroom was our guard at night when going to the toilet :)

One of the most fantastic holidays of my life (and I've been to over 70 countries). A truly authentic experience on a gorgeous island. The people were unbelievable. Kind and welcoming. The food was 100% authentic and delicious. Jolane and Maria are truly beautiful people. I recommend this home stay at the highest level.

Mareia and Jolame are the loveliest hosts you can imagine. I was the only guest there but they still took so much time for a full day trip to do the reef shark snorkeling with me and a nice island for picnic. They food was always fresh and so delicious. They were welcoming me like a family member. Vinaka vaka levu!

Jolame and Maria were fantastic hosts. They really made me feel welcome. Jolame also helped me to build confidence with my snorkelling. The food was lovely, Maria is a great cook. Would recommend the stay for an authentic Fjian experience

It was quite humid and very hot at night. No fan.

Jolame is amazing! It was such a nice time we spend in his home. His house is located in a little village and we were so happy to become part of it for a few days. We did some nice activities like shark snorkelin, fishing, hiking and more. Food cooked by Donna was every time so nice. And always more than enough. It was Thank you for everything.
