Beautiful hosts who made you feel part of the family. Our stay was only short, but we had a lovely time with our hosts and some local children on the island ☺️

We liked every single day we spent in Nabukeru village. Misi, our host, was super nice and the whole village was great with us. Food was good and plenty (every meal was cooked by a different family). You will mainly eat cassava rice noodles and fish which for us was great. Do bring bottle water (unfortunately rain water gave us bellyaches) and some snacks as there are no shops in the village: it is going to be you and the ocean and nothing else. The homestay house is on the beach, very simple but absolutely gorgeous. Our kids played with the village kids, we visited cassava fields, we went to visit the school, spent time with people, snorkels a lot (great coral rift very close by by plus amazing blue lagoon caves you can visit). We went to mess on Sunday with the community. We took lots of boat trips, went fishing, it was really a great experience. My son cried when he said goodbye to Misi! We will bring Nabukeru in our hearts!

A perfect place to start our Fijian Adventure. Naisisili village was beautiful and all the villagers welcomed us to their homes. We loved that we had meals with lots of different families during the stay. No Wifi menat a peacful and relaxing couple of days. Magical.

Cold showers only but that was expected. The lighting was minimal at night (two solar lamps) so we used our hiking headlights. I would recommend bringing your own light source.

We liked experiencing village life and meeting the friendly children! We already miss the enthusiastic “Bula!”s. The hosts were nice and warmed up to us the longer we were there. We stayed 3 nights, I think 5 would be ideal. We also got to attend Ps Elias Sunday church service (in Fijian). We love Pipo Junior and miss him 🥹

Beach is not the best for snorkeling.

It was a family homestay, and kind people were looking after us. Thank you! Accommodation is a simple little cottage, right in front of the beach. Close to the village or a 1.5-hour hike to the Blue Lagoon resort. A cave trip was great! Don't expect anything luxurious, it's a homestay and you will have all you need and thank you for accommodating my dietary requirements.

Nice experience at TAVEN homestay in a beautiful village, in the middle of nature, different from the resort experience. You get to visit the village, the church, interact with the locals. Salone will tell you stories and cook nice food, give you fruits from her garden. The garden is full of flowers and right on sea side. I did a wonderful hike up the hills and to another part of the island, and then vame back on the beach during low tide.

Taven Homestay on Nacula Island is an unforgettable gem that offers a truly authentic Fijian experience. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family. The warmth and generosity of the hosts made our stay incredibly special—they went out of their way to share their home, culture, and daily life with us. The location is stunning; crystal-clear turquoise waters, soft sandy beaches, and some of the best snorkeling we've ever experienced, just steps from the shore. The rooms are clean, simple, and comfortable, with everything you need to feel at ease. Waking up to the sound of the ocean and birdsong was pure bliss. Meals at Taven Homestay were a highlight. Every dish was homemade using local ingredients—delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. Sharing meals with the family and other guests created a beautiful sense of connection. What makes this place truly stand out is the cultural richness—opportunities to join in traditional activities, learn about village life, and experience genuine Fijian hospitality in its purest form.

To pay for the meals in advance is in my opinion inflexible. If you skip a meal there will be no refund. One the other side I saw that the money helps the family. So it was ok for me. To bring a cava root for the head of the village was stessful for me in advance. At the end it was not needed because I never met him. So I left the root at the family. Waste of time for me to organise the cava root.

I was at Evidan homestay in Naisisili village. The family was so lovely and helpful. They take care of me and helped where they can. The food was amazing and you never left hungry. The family took me to the Yasawa Rugby Championships which was a great experience. Also we had a church celebration together I really liked too.

There wasn't a fan in the room which made sleeping a little less fun. It appears that the locals relationship to rubbish is different to what you see at the resorts. It wasn't great to look at but it's more the safety aspect as there was broken glass on the beaches. The facilities were good and clean but very... very basic. I am used to camping in remote locations etc but the toilets were a little yucky but I could definitely look past it considering how unique and beautiful the experience was. The booking message do seem long and sometimes confusing but I DO recommend reading through them as they have a lot of info that you will want.

The family in Malevu were beautiful and did so much to help us feel welcome. The food they prepared was simple, local and some of the best we have had on our whole trip in the Yasawas. The relaxed island vibes, insight into village life and the home cooking all stand out.

The agency (yasawa homestays) is assigning you to the village they want and they send a very “too long” and unclear automated message which just create confusion. Less is more

Homestay means living in a village exactly the way they live. It’s an experience of deep connection with people, nature and yourself. No comfort like air conditioning, WiFi and everything else you may expect from hotel, apartment and B&B.

We didn’t like having to leave! Expect a rustic, authentic village experience, switching off from modern life, being part of village and allowing this beautiful community to host you - you’ll have a great time!

We stayed at the Red Bure in Naisisili Village on the beachfront. It’s an authentic experience with the most generous and hospitable people we’ve ever met. We loved being on the beachfront, the beautiful community here, family friendly vibes and exploring the surrounding environment of Sawa I lau and blue lagoon.

Beautiful authentic Fiji island Homestay experience. The bure where I slept was pretty much on the beach, surrounded by different types of tropical (fruit) trees and plants. Great meals, often with freshly caught fish from the evening before. Lovely family that made me feel very welcome. Highly recommended to visit the Sava-I-Lau caves early in the day so they are not yet too crowded.

We loved our stay in Nabukeru homestay! It was a really unique experience to take part in the life of a Fijian village. All the people in Nabukeru village and especially our host Misi warmly welcomed us and made us feel at home during our entire stay. Every meal was prepared by a different family and brought to our bure so we got to chat with different people from the village each day. The meals were super delicious and mainly consisted of freshly caught seafood as well as different fruits and plants that are grown in the village, cooked with coconut milk (e. g. breadfruit, cassava, bananas, mangos). And of course we loved our beachfront bure with paradisiacal beaches surrounding us! We also got to visit the school in the village, play with the children, see the caves nearby and try kava. If you go to Fiji we highly recommend visiting Nabukeru village!

This is not the fault of the EVIDAN homestay, but the only thing we found difficult was finding kava roots to bring as a sevusevu to the chief. It meant we had to miss out bus from the airport and instead get a taxi to the market before arranging a pickup on the Yasawa Flyer. If Yasawa Homestays (the organising company) could help ensure that this gift is easier to find for travellers voyaging to this island it would be a lot less stressful.

We stayed at EVIDAN homestay and were hosted by the lovely Elia, Salome, Philip, Kale, and Philip Jr. We couldn't have asked for more warm and friendly hospitality as they welcomed us into their wonderful family. The homestay was a 5 minute walk from two beautiful beaches and the food that Salome and Kale cooked for us was absolutely delicious - we certainly never went hungry! We learned so much about Fijian culture from the family and we even took part in a traditional kava ceremony on our final evening, a real highlight. The facilities are basic but we enjoyed being part of a Fijian village rather than a resort. We had absolutely everything we needed and we would recommend everyone visiting Fiji to stay here!

I have been in Nadi homestay, that is a little bit outside the village (5 min walk) so there are no rules (i.e. sunglasses, hat) like if you are in the village. The room was basic but very confortable... in front of the sea with an hammock to chill out. Navi is an excellent host who can organise all the activities... (snorkelling, cave trip, village)... and his wife an excellent chef... I am missing them and I highly recommend this place if you want to experience a real Fjian life style...
