It’s in a fantastic location, very close to a lot of notable cycling mountains, and places in a nice area of the town.

Firstly, I’m already pretty sick of these independent places that feel they can charge hotel prices (we paid £190 for 2 nights), but not even provide bedding. If I pay that much, personally, I expect at least a bed with some bed sheets on it. Secondly, after a nice stay, the owner of the property turned up around 45 mins before the official check-out time, asking when we were leaving (we were packing my car up, and it was obvious we were doing just that), but we felt like we were being rushed out of the door. She then spotted our bikes on the top of my car, and proceeded to quiz me, asking I’d dared to store them inside (we hadn’t, but the whole of the property has hard flooring, so it wouldn’t have been an issue at all, not to mention that this is a BIG cycling area). She then said we’d not cleaned the place properly, when we had (I take pride in leaving things as I found them). There was the odd crumb or two on the floor in the kitchen area (baguettes!), and we’d washed up some pots and pans etc from breakfast, that we’d left to dry (she expected them to be dry and back in the cupboards). We had also left some nice food (that wouldn’t have survived in the car, because it was very hot weather) for the next people who stayed there, but this was met with a look of derision, so I ended up chucking it all in the bin outside instead. The landlord then proceeded to make a point of hoovering every nook and cranny of the place, including the bedrooms, which were a little dusty in areas (and obviously hadn’t been hoovered regularly). A thoroughly unpleasant end to a nice stay from a pretty rude host, frankly.
