How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe warm welcome from our host who made sure we were made to feel like friends rather than strangers. Lots of handy information advice guidance to make our trip more enjoyable. Joanne, our host had even provided in the fridge some but needy items for a refreshing drink on arrival and good start for breakfast the next day. This was much appreciated. This place is perfect. Quiet in the woods, walking distance to centre. You have a private entrance with small garden, off road parking that was ideal for us. It is well planned with modern conveniences while retaining a clean spacious cabin feel. A great view of the mountains too. It gives privacy and you are seperate to the host family who do not burden or in anyway intrude as this is more a seperate independent guest utility. We loved our stay. Our host was wonderful, kind, helpful, friendly. We will definitely be back for a longer stay next time we visit chamonix.

Verified reviewGreat place! Clean, nice hot shower, plenty of outlets, nicely designed. It might be a bit of a walk for some, but it was not in my case. Nice that the street was lit at night, too. Would recommend unreservedly if you don;t mind the short walk and stairs to the loft bedroom. I'd left my cap and the hostess delivered it to my hotel which was very kind, allowing me to avoiding walking back out to the residence. Thank you again!
Not a critique, but a recommendation. Some eggs, milk, granola, cold drinks, bread, cheese and jam would have been nice. Those are things that are relatively inexpensive and stood out at other stays in the area during this TMB trek. Just really nice to get up and have breakfast in place vs. having to go somewhere immediately and the place is not super close to any eateries. And you really want to stay there! :-)

Verified reviewPerfect size chalet for the two of us, set at the foot of Mont Blanc in a quiet location with fantastic views! The Chalet has an upstairs wc and downstairs shower room wc with a good size living kitchen dining area. Big screen tv with apps for Netflix and Amazon Prime video... location is between Chamonix and Les Praz. Both have shops and restaurants, which obviously Chamonix has loads more. Walk towards Les Praz you will have access to loads of routes for walking hiking and mountain biking. There's access to trains/ mountain train/ cable car
A restaurant on the doorstep! Hotel down the wasn't serving food/ bar?

Location is also great, 20min walking from Chamonix Center, which is great, the journey is beautiful to walk and it’s 15min walking from Les Pras which is nice too

Verified reviewWonderful little appartment in Chamonix and a very warm welcome from the host.The appartment is very confortable, with a great location, close to the city center and the railway and in the mean time isolated. We were very happy to find this little gem in a region that is very frequented by tourists and therefore,most of the time, the accomodation lacks warmth and is impersonal.

Verified reviewThe location was brilliant - only a short walk to town. The chalet was lovely with a gorgeous log fire and really comfortable bed. The owners were really friendly and helpful.
The chalet was well equipped however there were just a few things that would have been useful to have, for example a washing up sponge and hand wash in the upstairs toilet. Other than that, it was perfect!

Verified reviewThe place is new and very well maintained. Very convenient in all aspects. Within a short drive (2-3 minutes) from Chamonix, and a convenient store which has all you need for breakfast and more. Iain, the host was extremely kind and helpful, assisted us in choosing places for hiking and recommended restaurants. The area is amazing for nature lovers. Very peaceful and quiet, and if you need some action (shopping, pubs etc.), Chamonix center is close by. We had a great time, and were very sorry it ended. Hope to be back.
