The communication beforehand and arrangements for meeting the host and collecting the keys were confused. From the description, it was not clear I would be in a shared apartment with strangers. At one point, and because it was unexpected and I was not comfortable with associating with the other people who had booked in, in the shared part of the flat featured in photographs, I felt insecure and considered whether to stay. Had I read the fulll reviews of Thomas from Gernany (who gave a rating of 7) and Olga from Belgium (rating 3) I would have understood that this meant one of four lockable rooms sharing two toilets, in an apartment block, all behind a single intercom frontdoor to number 65. I would have felt better had I known. Communications before arrival and arrangements for contacting the owner or resident host before arrival to gain admission to the apartment receive keys were also unclear.

The price reflects that it is for a room with a shower and wash basin in a shared apartment of 4 rooms with lockable doors, that has 2 shared toilets. When, on my arrival, I explained that the sharing of an apartment was not clear to me in the description, the hosts were kind and helpful and explained the arrangements to me and found me a safe place for my bicycle, My room was comfortable. I had use of a fridge, coffee machine, tea, and coffee. I think this place would score higher if the description was clear as, for me - a native English speaker - the name alone, "Chambre Chez Particulier", did not make clear the apartment was shared.

Attention: this is a shared apartment with a private shower but NO private WC. You will have to share it with other guests. And this is not clearly stated in the room description, otherwise I would have never ever booked it. The apartment has 4 rooms and 2 toilets: 1 toilet and 2 rooms per floor. The guests do not respect the rule that was communicated to us by the cleaning lady Eva upon arrival: use the toilet on your floor. After pointing out to her that a random man from another floor went to the toilet on our floor, she apparently changed her mind and told us „we live here as a big commune, so everything here is shared“. The man behaved cheeky and disrespectful. According to him, he is a frequent guest in this accommodation, and apparently feels entitled to behave as if he were the owner. Only one towel was provided initially, even though we booked a double room. When I asked for the second one, the same Eva told me that 1 room = 1 towel, but she will give another one „just for me“. Isn’t this ridiculous? The kettle was not working when we arrived, so I had to use the microwave to heat water during all our stay. Looking at the personnel, it does not seem that it is going to be repaired at all. There was no soap dispenser in our bathroom, just a pack of liquid soap laying on the sink. Apparently this device is too expensive for this accommodation. Later I realised why the pack was laying: there was a hole in the bottom, so as soon as you put it straight, the soap starts leaking. Finally, one of the guests from another floor brought in „friends“ to stay overnight. They arrived at 5:30 in the morning drunk and loud, and caused quite a stir in the apartment. The owner Hermine called and sent a note of apology the day after though, which was very nice of her. And of course no one in charge of this accommodation speaks English, which is quite normal in France though.

The apartment is really clean and has almost everything one needs for a short stay to explore the city. Quite close to the city centre, in a very quiet area. A supermarket Carrefour with long opening hours is 3 walking min away.
