The property had al the amenities you need for a short stay. All the spaces were modern and spotless clean! The location, while not within walking distance of the old town, was convenient across the street from a supermarket which also offered parking.

The location is not walking distance from the old town of Blois.

Basically two separate bedrooms rented out. Apartment is large. Mini fridge and small table in very large bedroom. Cleaner does a good job. Close to station, local bus stop and very close to supermarket. Catch a local bus to various local castles. Or walk to one. Pretty town. Key was supplied onsite in time to check-in, then left onsite. Washing machine.

I had some trepidation not knowing what to expect as there are not many onsite photos, yet it was totally unfounded. I couldn't work out the coffee machine. User error I'm sure. If you are from far away, be aware that door locks may be different and require, say two rotations, not one and some jiggling. This is common here! I couldn't find the light getting out of the elevator into the dark.

Given the price of the accommodation I think you can forgive the shortcomings. It's not that far a walk from the station and it's a very beautiful little town. The host is very willing to provide whatever he can.

It would be nice to have a place to hang clothes after washing. The kitchen was in quite a mess. There are many ways to make coffee but with all the stuff on the counters it was a little confusing. I think he should simplify the kitchen by putting some of the stuff in the cupboards to make it easier to work.

    Property response:

Hello, I’m glad to hear you enjoyed your stay ! I apologize that the kitchen wasn’t perfectly tidy when you stayed. I usually pay close attention to this, but I will be even more careful in the future. Thank you for your understanding, Best regards, Reda

Elevator, large shower and large room. None are the norm in France. Close to Blois-Chambord Station. Can catch the cheap local bus to and from Chambord Castle (number 2 from the bus station a little past the main train station). Same for many other castles. There is even one in walking distance - stay on the same road for the least hills. I got three of four nights with the other available room free. The other guest on my first night was very pleasant. Mini fridge in my room made storing food from shopping at the supermarket across the road easy and saved me money. Housekeeper dropped by some days to do linens for departing guests and preparation for new guests. Clear instructions for getting in. Bus stops outside.

Had to jiggle the front door a little as the neighbour suggested. Obviously, I liked it all. Thank you.

Full use of fully equipped kitchen including oven, hob, air fryer, washer/dryer, microwave, to name but a few. Excellent shower and WIFI. Free parking available in the supermarket across the road, which is very handy for purchasing food to cook. Clear check in instructions provided by owner in advance.

Bed a little uncomfortable and could do with extra pillows but otherwise nothing

Was not impresses to be staying in a bedroom in the owners apartment. Facilities were broken, broken coffee maker even though owners offered free coffee, electrical socket in bedroom dangerous and not attached securely to wall. Shower door had a broken lock, was locked in bathroom both nights of my stay. Owner should not assume that everyone has access to SMS, I had to wait for two hours after arrival for access to my room, owner did not respond to a message left on his phone for two hours until the hotel manager across the road rang back again. Staff of hotel across the road were not impressed.

    Property response:

Hello, None of the facilities you mention are broken in any way. Among hundreds of travelers before, you are so far the first one to ever mention this. If you had a hard time using the coffee machine or the shower lock, I can tell it unfortunately had more to do with your lack of strength than the equipments themselves. I did prove it when I made your coffee twice and opened the lock. I do assume that every traveler has access to SMS or email, especially when they travel tens of thousands kilometers from home, and especially when I explicitly mention it in the message I send when you book. If you don't, just tell me before so we can organize accordingly : travelers should not assume that the owner is available 24/7 like a hotel receptionist. Next time, consider booking a hotel room instead. Regards, Reda

The ability to use the kitchen facilities. The shared bathroom was luxurious. Parking instructions and area were good.

You need to pay particular attention to the hosts instructions to enter the property which is one of 6 apartment blocks on site. There needs to be some additional instruction on what to do with keys and door locks once you are inside the apartment. We dead locked the host out of the apartment and had to get out of bed to let him in. Earlier, a second set of guests tried to enter our room, luckily our door was locked, so a numbering system is required on doors.

The apartment is very close to the train station Blois - Chambord, so if you arrive by train you don´t have to walk for more than ten minutes with your luggage. Everything I needed to know before my arrival was sent in a message the day of arrival in the morning. You can use the kitchen and there was some water and sweets for you in the room. The room has a small balcony. There is a supermarket and a bus stop just across the road. The bed was really comfortable.

The apartment is shared with other guests and the owner, so you can hear them (the sound isolation isn´t very good), but if you want, you can lock your room when you go out. I was missing some space for my clothes - there wasn´t any wardrobe in the room, so I had to leave them in the suitcase.

    Property response:

Hello, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay ! Thank you for your feedback I'm considering putting a wardrobe in this room Kind regards Reda

The place is very clean, the bed is very comfortable, there was a fan in the room which was very appreciated. Plenty of tea and coffee, washing facilities dryer , dining area , cooking facilities etc etc

The bathroom was shared with one other room however it was not much of a problem because the toilet and the bathroom are separate rooms and both are spacious and clean.

The location and the apartment size

The lack of communication from the owner once I was there. The exact apartment ( there were blocks A-F) but no exact address was provided accept 15 Avenue Gambetta, Blois. I was assured that I’d be met and while I had the hosts contact number he didn’t reply to my phone calls or sms. I was told by sms that he couldn’t meet me but his mother would. Luckily I had asked for his mother’s phone number. Eventually she replied with the exact address. She was very nice but didn’t speak English (ok fair enough) but when I asked for the wifi password she would only show me rooms until I insisted. Turns out you can only scan and wifi password which neither of my phones would do. I sms the host asking for him to reply with a password I could use- silence. I had no internet use my whole stay and I had been relying on it. He should stipulate scanned wifi only in his add. If this wasn’t enough, after a longdays drive at around 8pm the intercom rings several times. On picking up, it was a girlish voice saying: you have not told us which apartment number it is. I was very reluctant to allow the 2 people ( lovely father and daughter from Czech Republic as it turned out) entry at first. I had no knowledge this was to be a shared apartment. Yes it had 2 bedrooms but many places I have stayed with Booking.com have had 2 bedrooms and I have been the only guest. I found this incredibly poor management and communication by a host of a money making rental accomodation. I have travelled the world many times and have never had a situation like this before. As I single female traveller, I didn’t mind the other people staying. I EXPECT to be told so I would know they were sharing the apartment. Had I been asleep ( likely) or out to dinner ( people do go out for meals when travelling) these people would not have been able to access their accomodation. VERY badly done .

    Property response:

Hello, If you just read the instructions I sent on the morning of your arrival, like everybody else, you wouldn’t have faced any communication issue : house rules (like taking your shoes off…), WiFi access, how to access the apartment… everything is specified in it. Be glad somebody came to help you, because everybody is supposed to be able to get to their room autonomously - and almost everybody does, reviews speak for themselves Regards Reda
