Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaHot in room up stairs, no fan. Some people may find the steep stairs difficult.
Good size room, quiet at night, big bright shared bathroom (girls will love the mirror and lighting), big shower, good sized kitchen, good sized and well equipped lounge area.

United KingdomIt was all pretty good but the very steep stairs might be difficult for some. Tricky going up and down in motorcycle boots.
lovely old style French property. Safe area and a gentle 1 hour stroll into the middle of town. Felt safe to park my motorbike there. Toiletries were appreciated. hi

Czech RepublicEverything was good,.. cannot think of any thing that i did not like. Perhaps stairs may be steep for kids and aged elders. If you took a bus the property is about 7 min away by walk from the bus stop.
Good location, if you are working in Merignac or close to it. Comfortable for solo or couple. About 12 min walk to the main tram line. Ample restaurants and basic essential shops within 10min walking distance. Room was comfy and quite. Shared bathroom was good and clean.

United StatesThe location was a bit loud, there is a glass recycling bin right across the street which gets used at night. Depending on who else stays in the house, it can get a bit loud as the walls are thin (could hear snoring in the next room) and the floors are very creaky as people go to and from the bathroom and up and down the steps.
The host and cleaning staff were very nice and professional. I was able to check in early and leave my luggage in the living room after checkout on the last day, which I appreciated. Value for money was good!

MoroccoSteps to first floor quite steep and shallow (not designed for size 12/13, 48 shoes or for creaky adults with a cane, but manageable - me!) Height of cross beam above room 1 and to bathroom, less than 2m, bit of a problem when you forget and are 2m tall, banged head a few times! ;-)
Location quite accessible, 5 minutes to bus stop (#1 Gare St Jean) 8-10 minutes to tram A. pleasant room. Sandra was a big help going out of her way to be helpful. Half hour walk or so to 'downtown'. Quiet area.

United KingdomI guess it's not in the "best" district or location, a bit of a walk to any shops (and not much around nearby anyway). But very easy to get elsewhere on public transport. Very minor things like the kitchen facilities could've been slightly better (for example, lips/tops for cooking pots) but honestly everything was done very well. Absolutely no complaints :)
A beautiful house and very easy, professional check in and facilities. Everything was made easy and I would highly recommend to anybody looking for a place in Bordeaux!

SpainMaybe some towel hooks in the bathroom/ and or the bedrooms for the towels . You must remember to lock the front door behind you; it is not self-locking (guests should be made aware of this.)
I loved it - a great place very quiet and relaxing a bit of a way from the city but with excellent transport connections. Super comfortable bed and massive living room and kitchen space. Lovely and clean it felt like a home away from home. How anyone could diss it is beyond me. It is an older house of the Bordeaux style so I imagine all stairs are narrow and steep not the owners fault.

United KingdomI stayed here for 3 weeks as I work remotely and wanted to visit Bordeaux. The owner decided it would be ok to hire workmen to come in and rip up the carpet during my stay, kicking me out of my room during the day to do so. Apparently the plan was to lay wooden flooring, but I was left with no floor at all and dangerous wood cutting equipment was left everywhere (UNSAFE FOR CHILDREN). The bathroom was also left unusable. The workers stole some property from my room, and the host was uninterested and completely ignored me. On top of this, I only received hand towels for a 3 week stay. The stairs are extremely dangerous as they are really steep, definitely not suitable for older people. Finally, the cleaner would leave the keys in the door every day so I kept getting locked out. Again, the host was completely useless helping with this. This property may be the cheapest in Bordeaux, but it is cheap for a reason. I ended up having to claim the money back through PayPal as the owner refused to believe that what I had experienced was unacceptable.

FranceI came to the place, tried to knock - no reaction. Tried to call -first nothing, after several minutes then the owner finally called me back, she told me that she felt sorry but the room was not available because someone had already taken it for that night. She proposed me another address, I checked it was 43 min away by foot. After 25 min of waiting this would have been hard for me. I have immediately asked her to annul for no charge for me and sent the annulment request so that I am not charged for the services which had not been rendered (and not for my fault). The owner said was speaking politely and answered it was fine for her to annul and to reimburse. Still I see that the owner has not answered to the booking annulment request. To avoid the long pretense and litigation processes (I am currently studying for the French Bar examination and still need to practice drafting claims before the French tribunals), please kindly take my annulment request for granted and annul everything altogether so that this feedback does not appear
The owner was talking on the phone in the nice manner
